We decided the wheel was a pretty good invention after all, so we added two of them to our rugged Black Hole™ bags and created this superburly, smooth-rolling duffel. Highly weather-resistant, it will protect your gear from rough handling and hold everything you need for an extended trip. Its main compartment is accessed by a zippered U-shaped lid, which has a pair of zippered mesh pockets on the underside to hold small items. A zippered exterior pocket provides a secure, easy-access place for your boarding pass, energy bar or paperback. The sturdy frame sheet protects the duffel from baggage-handler abuse and keeps your Black Hole™ upright, even when it’s loaded to the max. Oversized wheels deliver a smooth ride, whether you’re crossing the tarmac or following a cobblestone street. Carrying options include the main webbing handles (with snap closure), a telescoping handle or the two haul loops on either end. You can lash additional gear to the outside with the four corner-mounted daisy chains. Made from 15-oz 900-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Black Hole Wheeled Duffel 120L is rated 3.7333333333333334 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from field worthy This bag holds my bulky gear (dive gear, tripod, fins) and it's handled air travel, boats, docks, rocks, everything with simple functional style. Well designed bag, two straps to hold stuff in place, two zippered pockets inside, one outside, great wheels, good handle, and the whole thing is light enough I get to use most of my 50lb luggage allowance on actual gear. I have the smaller version as my carry-on and LOVE both of these bags. They did not disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Luggage Out There This is by far the best luggage around. After going through many suitcases that were broken by airlines, this luggage lasts and manages to stay looking great. It is easy to pack, and the wheels are functional in gravel as well as on pavement. The colors are great and the suitcases are super easy to locate on the baggage belt!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for surf trips I have been using this wheeled duffle for more than a year and its been with me for several surf trips! I like that the fabric is durable and water repellant because its been put through a lot of weather and non-gentle airline care. I prefer the malleable structure (versus a hard case, or the canvas fabric wheeled bags) which fits a surprising amount of stuff when I come home with extra souvenirs. To be honest, I only take it with me as a carry-on if its on the lighter side (not packed to the max and heavy), so I have not encountered the problem that others have about it getting flagged at security for being too large. Usually if its packed to the max, I just check it so I don't have to bother lifting it over my head into the overhead storage. My boyfriend has the 60L Black Hole backpack, which I have borrowed as well and would recommend as a go-to for an easy carry-on bag. Sometimes they make him put it in the sizer, so it just depends on how stuffed it is whether or not is passes. The reason I chose the wheeled duffel instead of the backpack is because I am only 104lbs and 5'2", so packing the backpack up to 50lbs is just under half my body weight, so I'd prefer to tug that load on wheels ;) My only criticism is the wheels are not as smooth and agile as other wheeled bags on the market, but for the other benefits and depending on how adventuresome your travels are, I think it is worth the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Checked in Luggage I replaced my old ll bean that lasted 50 international flights as checked baggage. My bar was high. I did a lot of research online, but found I needed to do a head to head comparison in a brick and mortar store to make a decision. The rolling Black Hole blew away the competition on the following factors: -competitors have bags that are either too big or too small-this is perfect size to meet airline linear inches limit for checked baggage. -competitors are heavier. this is a very lightweight bag. -this is as good as or better quality than any competitor. Additionally and not insignificantly: -bag is slightly formed, it holds clothing better than a totally amorphous bag. So gear/clothing doesn't slosh around. -bag is easy to roll, with sturdy, large wheels not my highest criterion, but a plus. -bag looks good and is easy to spot on a carousel. So there you go. I bought my bag in a store, but felt compelled to write a review online to help others out. Well done, Patagonia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for a long sports trip Purchased this at the end of 2016 ski season as a replacement for my 15 year old DaKine bag which finally fell apart. Primary use will be for western skiing. I take 3 bags out several times each season: boot bag (pack straps, carry-on), ski bag (rollers) and gear/clothing bag (rollers, now the 120L Wheeled Black Hole Duffel), so I can get around w/o assistance. Won't ski till winter 2016, but just used the Duffel as sole bag on a 5-day blue water sail from Bermuda to Newport. It was super: totally scratch-resistant through baggage handling on flight out, easy to handle around the cobblestone streets and floating wharfs of St. George while I was hooking up with the crew and kept everything nice and dry through the open ocean trip. I have owned Patagonia gear for over 20 years, participate in your Pro Program through PSIA and can't speak highly enough of the company and its products (some of mine go back the full 20 and still look and wear as new). In an age when the term "value" is kicked around like a pingpong ball by thousands of companies in hundreds of industries, you guys are one of the shining exceptions; you really get it. Thanks for years of ingenuity, quality and integrity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bag has been around the globe I travel a lot for work and for the past two years this bag has been my only luggage for clothes and work equipment. It has been a very reliable travel companion to at least 15 countries and many months on the road. It's withstood over 100 airport luggage carousels, miles of rolling, often on dirt or gravel, and exposed to salt water on open ocean boat trips. It's big, which means it's easy to over fill it (I carry a travel scale) but it's also easy to pack because the top flap opens wide. I'm just starting to see some wear on the bottom fabric, but everything else, from the zippers to the handles, is holding up great. If this bag ever wears out, I'll buy another.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This thing is HUGE! I purchased this roller used at a REI garage sale. It had been returned due to a bent wheel axle. I'm not even sure how the axle was bent, as it is a solid piece of steel, and I could not bend it back using channel locks and a vice. Anyways, the wheel was easy to remove, and my local Patagonia store gave me a new wheel when I brought in the bent one. Just like that, this thing is ready to rock and roll! I tend to pack light, so my gf usually takes this bag. So far it has survived baggage handlers in Maui, a winter trip to Chicago, and being dragged through the snow in Tahoe. The outside of the bag is holding up fine to the wear and tear of travel, there have been zero issues with the wheels since I've had it, and the telescoping handle is much stronger than in other rolling luggage. I'm only taking away 1 star due to the original bent wheel axle, since I've noticed that trend in some other reviews.
