The first sound of geese overhead tells us winter’s on the way. It also tells us to be ready for damp skies and wet brush. Rugged and super-versatile, our Field Pants provide comfort and protection for long days on the move. The stretchy 96% nylon/4% spandex body fabric allows full freedom of motion on steep terrain, while the tough, 500-denier nylon front facings provide extra durability and water resistance; both fabrics offer 50+ UPF sun protection. Additional features include articulated knees for full-range motion, two front slash pockets, and zippered back and thigh pockets to hold and secure whatever you need. Consider these the official pants of woodcutters, brush busters, bird watchers and anyone else feeling the urgency of the season.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight yet protective I have been wearing these pants the last 4 months chasing quail in southern AZ. They are perfect for our warmer weather yet stand up great against all the thorns and cactus. As usual excellent gear from Patagonia. I have been wearing these hard and no issues with seams or wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect I bought a pair of these and liked the fit so well I bought a second pair in the other color. I've used them more for travel/adventure wear than for hard core mountaineering so far, and have really enjoyed their fit and versatility. However, after about 2 months of light-duty use between 2 and 3 times a week, the grey pair started to have some pretty noticeable pilling from about the knee down. It doesn't impress the function, but has moved them from "pants I can wear anywhere" to the "pants for camping and hiking only" category. While I love the design of these pants, bought a second pair immediately, and wore them often, I probably wouldn't buy them again because of the pilling issue. I feel like the quality of Patagonia products is such that I should be able to expect more from field pants than what I got.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Near indestructible I️ have been wearing these pants in the woods of western Maine for 3 months now, and they have held up superbly. The only real blemish is a popped stitch on the left outside leg seam, which came from snagging on the remnants of a dead branch that was close to an inch in diameter. The elastic waistband is a little loose compared to standard pants of the same size however, a belt or suspenders fixes that easily enough. Highly recommended for outdoor adventurers or work pants for tough jobs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite pants for "the field" I bought these to use as pants for biology field work. Like others, I've had some problems with the crotch splitting, but the pants themselves and my experiences with Patagonia far outweigh the negatives. They're light, breathable, and quick drying. The cordura sheds water really well, and is in great shape despite being kneeled on thousands of times as I kneel on rock, dirt and branches for sampling. They have great mobility and have let me scale rocks and hop over logs comfortable. Like others, I've had problems with the crotch splitting, but my experiences with Patagonia were great. The threads on my first pair started breaking within day or two of wearing them. Luckily I was able to get through the season on a single layer of stitching. I thought they were just a dud, and Patagonia replaced them without hassle. The second pair did the same thing. This time I knew it was a problem with the pants, but I liked them so much I didn't want to give them up. Patagonia reinforced the seam with stronger thread, and even repaired a small hole, all for free! I appreciate that Patagonia stands by their products, and is willing to put in effort to even improve a good piece rather than toss it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too long Great pants but sizing sucks. Large pants at 31" long- would have liked other options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants for working outside! I bought these pants for working outside, brush cutting and yard cleanup and they are amazing. Light weight, room to move, won't over heat and durable. I would recommend these pants to people working outside. Depending on your waist size you might need a belt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pants I own These are the most comfortable pants I own by far and away. I am 6 foot 4 290lbs. They are super comfy with plenty of room for me to move when I'm outdoors. I also wear them in the oyster hatchery where I work. It's a tough environment surrounded by salt water. The pants have held very well.
