When you wake to a chorus of frogs and gobbling turkeys, winter’s officially done. But wet grass and spring showers are not. Rugged and super-comfortable, our Field Pants provide comfort and protection for long days on the move. The stretchy 96% nylon/4% spandex base fabric allows full freedom of motion on steep terrain, while the tough, 500-denier nylon front facings offer extra durability and water resistance; both fabrics provide 50+ UPF sun protection. Belt loops and an elastic waistband ensure a close and motion-friendly fit. Additional features include articulated knees for full-range motion, two front slash pockets, and zippered back and thigh pockets to hold and secure whatever you need. Consider them the official pants of woodcutters, brush busters, bird watchers and anyone else feeling the urgency of the season.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Field Pants is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bird Hunting or Birdwatching These pants are lightweight but fend off the thickest brush. Perfect for warmer weather bird hunting or any field sport. I am 32x32 165 and Medium fits perfectly. Nice lighweight hiking pants!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hiking and General Outdoors Pants I have been on a quest to find some new backpacking pants. I finally wore out a pair I've had about 13 years that I loved. I've tried four pairs - and been happy with none of them. The fit is usually too tight, or in some cases, way too baggy. I also can't stand those pants that look like some Euro-tech mountaineering pants. I wanted cargo pockets, a comfortable loose fit, tough, quick drying, lightweight and wind-resistant fabric. I found them. These pants are nearly perfect! The fit is perfect for me - I am 6'2", about 205 lbs with a 34 inseam (in Levis) and the Large size fits perfectly. I could not be happier with the fit of these pants. They are not snug around the thighs, which most of the newer pants are. They are just loose enough. Awesome. The material seems bomber. I have yet to test them in wet weather, but I have a hunch they will be great. IF Patagonia wants to improve them - add a left cargo pocket and make the front hand pockets deeper. Seriously, that is about all I would change on these pants. DO NOT change the fit! Don't go Euro on me, please. These are fantastic pants!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pants For Nearly Everything Love these Pants, very rugged yet breathable and light weight. Only thing is I bought a medium, using the size chart, but the legs are a little long and the waist line requires a belt for all day use. I have yet to break them in so I am hoping they do not get too loose. I am 6 ft-165 lbs and I am considering a size small.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Fabric, Terrible Construction I bought 2 pairs of these pants for bird hunting in Michigan and Oklahoma. Usually the problem with field pants is the fabric wears out quickly. These pants held up against some tough conditions. The problem is the stitching in the crotch and the seat is just a single stitch. Both pants had all the stitching come out. Since I already had them altered to length I opted to have my local seamstress double stitch them in those areas. Patagonia offered a return but, I didn't want to have the same problem over again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost exellent These pants are so close to being straight up excellent, but too many small details I couldn't overlook. 1: The Bear Brown color has gray "patagonia" embroidery on the leg, did someone not want to switch it out to a brown to match? The Gray has gray embroidery, why not the Bear Brown have brown? 2: My work place has a rule, I cannot have visible trade markings on my pants, I would love to see the Field Pants have the same trade markings at the Quandary pants (tiny label at the waist) So I can wear these to work. 3: These pants do not come in black, I would love to wear these to work but my uniform requires me to wear black. 4: While I do not mind have just one rear pocket and one cargo pocket, it does bother me that the one rear and one cargo pockets on the same side of the pant (right side). I would love to see the cargo pocket moved to the left side, or just have 2, one on each side. I have already come to terms that most brands just want one rear pocket for what ever reason. 5: The size medium says it is for 31" -33" waist, it should be 32-34" waist. I am a 32" waist, and there is no way I not get away without a belt with the Field Pants Now, for the good: 1: Other than the waist, the pants fit me. They really do, unlike most pants that are meant to fit men with no butts and chicken legs and do not allow any layering underneath. The Field Pants allow me to have some room to layer and are still very comfortable without. This alone gets the pants 4 stars. 2: Despite having to restitch my two pairs of Field pants I own at the crotch ( they were shipped with bad stitching), they seem to be holding up with some rough use. I wish I could wear them to work to really find out though. If patagonia would consider fixing some of the issues I mentioned above I wouldn't hesitate giving the Field pants a 5 star review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great active pants I guess I expected the Field Pants to feel like a nylon version of Carhartt dungarees but I have been very pleasantly surprised by how light and stretchy these pants are. I bought them for hiking around the Yellowstone region this summer but have used them snowbiking, climbing in the gym, and working in the shop; pretty much nonstop since they arrived. I like the durability and wind resistance of the tougher front fabric and appreciate the stretch in the rest. No problems stemming while climbing. The oldschool double button closure at the waist is a nice touch, I wish more pants had that feature. Combined with the elastic waist sections it is a very comfortable fit. The size large fits me perfectly (I'm 34" waist with a 34"+ inseam). More colors will be added to my collection soon.
