Whenever you’re aiming for your personal best, it’s not the steep pass or the fast-moving squall that brings you down; it’s the nagging details that trip you up. Keep it together longer with the thoughtfully designed Fore Runner Vest. Lightweight and highly breathable, it has a close fit and a clean, efficient design that stays in sync with your motions for minimal bounce and maximum comfort when you’re running ultras or long, self-supported vision quests. The top-loading main compartment, made from weather-resistant nylon ripstop, keeps your hydration (2L reservoir included) and your choice of calories secure next to the body. It also features an integrated compression system and a quick open-and-close entry that’s simple to use, even at mile 78. A supple foam back panel, made from lightweight mono mesh, breathes to keep you cool and dry. Stretch pockets hold your flasks or hand bottles, and numerous small stash pockets give you options for storing your salts and gels. Airflow mesh throughout the vest has a soft edge binding for next-to-skin comfort. Made from 3.7-oz 100-denier high-tenacity nylon ripstop with a 6.25-oz 210-denier nylon semi-dull double-ripstop base. Both fabrics have a polyurethane coating and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Water Resistant

(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic multi-purpose bag I really, really like this vest. I use it mostly for trail and long-distance road running, and it easily fits 2L of water. I also use it on hiking and mtn biking trips and it also nicely fits a shell, snacks, etc. The pockets in the front are great grab places for my gels and phone -- if I have multiple snacks and don't want to stop running I do have to pull of the vest mid-run. Finally, I'm a D and purchased a small--I find the vest fits snugly right under my chest well with the multi-adjustable straps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around use item! Bought this as a minimal do-everything companion: running, cycling (off road or commuting), hiking, and dog walking. It has delivered in all respects. Extremely versatile, with or without the hydration insert. In spite of its size it is possible to stow (and take off) a protective layer along with other essentials. Recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hydration system weighs 124 grams For the other UL runners out there. I pulled the bladder and hose out and weighed it on the kitchen scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! I had a vision for ensuring I got my long distance run in. I wanted my husband to drop me off on our way to the beach with a backpack that had a hydration pack and enough room for pepper spray, my wallet, my phone, and a bikini, sundress, and flipflops for when I arrived at the beach. This pack was just what I was looking for. I compared it to two other packs in a REI store, and of course this one is the one I wanted and fit me the best. I debated about this pack for a long time because of the high price. The adjustable two front straps are really nice. Sometimes the line coming from the hydration pack gets twisted and points toward the opposite direction so you have pull the water piece over to you when you want a drink which I haven't figured out yet how to solve. Running with a pack certainly makes your back hotter (temperature wise) versus running without one, but its a sacrifice for water and transporting those items that wouldn't be accomplished any other way. I have an iPhone 4 which fits perfectly in the front little pouch, however if you have a bigger phone, it may be a tough fit. The outside pouch is nice too because with the main backpack closure pouch, you can easily fasten in things like flipflops. I have also used this pack for bicycling and it worked out great. Fits a nice little picnic lunch for two : ) Items within the backpack also stay dry from your sweat. I have not tried this pack out yet in the rain. Sometimes the water in the bladder will swish around and make noise, however I figured out if you squeeze out the air when filling the bladder, it should be quiet. It works nice running. I was worried it would be bouncing around alot or uncomfortable, however it is great and stays put while running. I recommend this to those in my situation that just want to carry a few things and have water for their travels. Definitely try on first, since we are all made differently, but this one seemed to be the best for me, an hourglass shaped woman, 5'8" in height and small/medium build.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from need better fit I bought this for trail running because I want a vest with stash pockets on the front. I am a 5' 9" size 8/medium female so I assumed I would need the size small since this item is unisex, but the small didn't fit over the shoulders. The chest was perfect, but the over shoulders needs to be adjustable. The mesh at the back of the neck and shoulders cut into me and would chafe my running tops, my shoulders and back of my neck. I wish the mesh shoulder straps attached separately to the pack with no fabric between them so it didn't feel so confining. Offering more fit information online would be a plus. Otherwise it seemed like a nice vest! I am bummed it didn't fit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Use for fishing on small boats The bag is good, but may be better if it 'sat' higher on the back. You can see, as pictured in one of the photos of the bag, how it sits lower on the back, close to the middle. For trail running, or backpacking/trekking in general, wait load should be positioned higher on the back, opposed to lower. I understand, this is not a backpacking pack and likely will fill with heavy items, but, regardless, I think its design would be improved if the shoulder straps allowed for the bag to be positioned higher, closer towards one's shoulder blades, and not low, how it is currently designed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ultra trail running vest! I used this vest for some trail runs (15 - 60k) in New Zealand and this was the best trail running vest I've ever owned and tried! It's super slim but still has a ton of volume - enough for the full water reserve, a rain jacket, a wind jacket, gloves, and a couple sandwiches and bars. I could keep some chews in the front pockets that were easily accessible. The only thing I would change is that the straps to tighten the vest are super long; I had to either bunch them up or just let them fly around. It seems like the vest would be ok for all body types even if they lost a few inches on each strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best designed hydration pack!! I got this running vest this year and can't say how much I love it! I wear it all the time, it's so comfortable to run in, holds my bear spray in one front pocket and phone in the other. The water bladder is innovative and works great. It's really a super well designed thing.
