When it comes time to exercise the wandering spirit, some people use airplane mode. We use the Capilene® Lightweight Zip-Neck. Capilene® Lightweight is our lightest-weight, fastest-drying and best-wicking baselayer. The fabric’s subtle grid pattern sits lightly and comfortably on the skin; the smooth outer face glides easily in any layering system. Highly breathable for high-exertion and warm conditions, the fabric is 100% recycled polyester treated with Polygiene® permanent odor control. Features include a long center-front zipper for venting body heat, self-fabric collar with internal neck tape for chafe-free comfort, full underarm gussets for unhindered shoulder mobility, elastic thumb loops for secure hand coverage, flatlock seams to minimize chafing, offset shoulder and side seams to lie smoothly beneath pack straps, and a drop tail for additional coverage. Fair Trade Certified™ sewing.

Men's Capilene® Lightweight Zip-Neck is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what it used to be Bought a couple of these on sale because I already owned several of the Capilene tshirts from a few years prior. Assumed quality/build would be the same, clearly I was wrong. Wore right down and piled almost straight away with limited use. Returned and replaced both, still happening. I was told that this will happen with general wear but it hasn't happened with any of my Icebreaker Merino clothing over a longer time period. I never had any trouble with my older Capilene shirts. What gives Patagonia?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Multipurpose tool Having used Patagonia's base capilene layers as lightweight cycling apparel for many years, I continued the tradition. The long zipper front helps with ventilation and the fabric is super silky. I got a large which was generously cut; I could have done with a medium. I'm 5'10" and 165 lbs. After a week of mt. Biking with only one rinse, the shirt did not hold a stink!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from whispy fabric, not durable this thing has some good properties, like drying fast. and... that's about it. the fabric shows bad pilling after 4 days of use for backpacking. also, it was recommended by staff as being as durable as cap daily. not so. I put my cap daily through heck and back. the only wholes I put in it was when some sparks of a bonfire landed on it. the lightweight is just that. looks good, but it wasn't meant to last more than a week...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and very light I love both the zip neck and the crew for hiking and backpacking sleepwear. I'm female, 5'2"/105# and the men's xs fits perfectly. Hey Patagonia - how about a hoody version?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit and feel Not really my favorite/go to piece, but it fits very well and it is what it says it is, so I easily give it five stars. I've been increasingly disappointed with the thermal weight zip tops, which have been my go to shirt for many many years. The necks and overall fit on those has changed to the point i cannot wear them anymore. So, needing to find something else to wear 300 days/year, I see myself switching to this top. While obviously not as warm, it fits perfectly, and the neck is more substantial. I can throw a cap two top over the top and that will work when it's colder. I've finally figured out/discovered why the neck feels so skimpy/lousy on the new Thermal Weight version. It's because they're getting shorter, and maybe a bit looser too. The loose, baggy feel might be because they're getting shorter and don't even cover my neck. I went back to a few of my old Capilene 4 tops, from a few years ago, and the necks are way taller and a bit snugger. The overall effect is a much cozier and nicer feel. Also, this lightweight top has ample room in the back when my arms are extended forward, something that the Thermal Weight top surprisingly doesn't have any more. The current iteration of that piece is a lemon, at least for me. I'm 5'11", 150 lbs, so quite slender, and not at all used to having a medium of anything feel tight in the back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits great, perfect for hiking I'm 6' tall and ~200lbs and I got a M which fits great (I like it on the snug side). Put it to test on every day hikes for a week wearing my son in the back pack up and down the Alps. I sweat a lot and this shirt dried up super quick and after a week of heavy use it still smelled fresh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent wicking and comfort The first time I wore the men's cap Ilene was on a three day ski mountaineering trip in the Oregon Cascades. ee had variable weather but predominantly sun and warm temps. I wore the shirt the entire trip and was always comfortable. No chafing, excellent wicking and it never stunk. this is a replacement for a 12 year old capilene base layer, and the fit has improved dramatically. I carried a sixty pound pack and was accustomed to having the shirt ride up in the back. Never happened with the new one. A huge thank you for carrying purple in men's!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I own several Patagonia pieces that I have put through the wringer over the years. I have always been impressed with the quality and attention to detail. This zipneck however, was a huge disappointment. The texture of the material is not comfortable, and feels worse the longer you sweat in it. I would look past the feel of the material if the shirt "worked". After just one light run, it stinks. It retains odor even after washing it. This was a complete waste, and will likely sit in the bottom of a drawer. There are much better alternatives elsewhere.
