Sure, there’s jumping jacks, the hot-water-bottle-against-the-belly trick and the time-honored partner spoon. But when you need a touch more warmth, our Down Shirt makes life easier. Its minimalist, pared-down design traps your heat with 600-fill-power 100% recycled down (reclaimed from used down products) inside a lightweight, windproof 100% recycled polyester shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The center-front zipper has an internal storm flap and chin guard, and the construction of the two external handwarmer pockets (set into the forward side seams) creates two internal drop-in pockets. The whole jacket stuffs into either outside pocket.

100% Recycled Down

There’s a huge upside when you can turn waste into something beautiful; we’re doing that with Recycled Down. It’s a mix of 600-fill-power goose and duck down reclaimed from cushions, bedding and other used items that can’t be resold. The reclaimed down is washed, using detergent and thermal water at 34 degrees Celsius, then dried at 135 degrees Celsius (20 minutes longer than the industry standard), making it hypoallergenic. Recycled Down offers the identical performance benefits to virgin down.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Down Shirt is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ahh I love it! Got the Big Sur Blue for 119. Great deal. First bought an XL but it was way too large. The sleeves are already long (and I have long arms), so I bought the L. It fit perfectly. Very comfortable and warm, while super light. This is my first Patagonia jacket and I'm very excited about it. Now if only this LA heat wave in October will die down...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fit not so good I returned the medium as it was too loose around the torso, not what I would call a slim fit. I got the small and everything about the fit was good but the shoulders were too narrow and the sleeves a bit short (though I would have kept it if it were just the sleeves). The small was returned as well. Otherwise,I liked it but couldn't see paying that much (even on sale) for something that does not fit well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy every time I put it on I live in Ohio and this is the best investment I've made in an article of clothing in years. It's perfect for layering. I can comfortably wear a sweater underneath or even a heavier coat over it if necessary. It's incredibly warm, yet lightweight. Perfect for Ohio weather, fall, winter, spring, or a cool summer night. Ordered a size smaller than I usually would based on other reviews saying it runs a little large, and I'm happy with that decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for light weight garment and travel Being that I am a big traveler for work, having something that can fit multiple climates as well as having a backpack slung over it's shoulders - I needed a light jacket up to the task. This has performed for me time and time again on a plane, during light snow, a light hike, or walking around the city. The coat is great because it's not dressy by any means, but doesn't look out of place in a dressy situation. The name carries it a long way and the design is really noticeable amongst other down jackets. Patagonia really did a great job with this one. I feel comfortable layering it up or just using it as a light jacket. Keep in mind that it's not the warmest jacket and if you're using it under 50 degrees, I think you'll find you'll want a thick sweater under it. It's perfect to handle that shoulder season between Fall to Winter, but you'll want something heavier with chilly conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for those cool evenings! I bought this jacket about a month ago and added it to my collection of other Patagonia down jackets. The Men's down shirt is the perfect weight for cool Minnesota evenings. It is light weight and blocks the wind and is just right for temps ranging from 40's to 60 either as a stand alone outer garment or for colder weather as an undergarment. I'm a big fan of Patagonia and you won't be disappointed with this "shirt" which I feel is more like a jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple comfort Added the down shirt to my collection (have Nano and "puff"). Lightweight is great and with down I don't overheat. Easy to stuff in a backpack as needed.
