Sure, there’s jumping jacks, the hot-water-bottle-against-the-belly trick and the time-honored partner spoon. But when you need a touch more warmth, our Down Shirt makes life easier. Its minimalist, pared-down design traps your heat with 600-fill-power 100% recycled down (reclaimed from used down products) inside a lightweight, windproof 100% recycled polyester shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The center-front zipper has an internal storm flap and chin guard, and the construction of the two external handwarmer pockets (set into the forward side seams) creates two internal drop-in pockets. The whole jacket stuffs into either outside pocket.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Down Shirt is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for light weight garment and travel Being that I am a big traveler for work, having something that can fit multiple climates as well as having a backpack slung over it's shoulders - I needed a light jacket up to the task. This has performed for me time and time again on a plane, during light snow, a light hike, or walking around the city. The coat is great because it's not dressy by any means, but doesn't look out of place in a dressy situation. The name carries it a long way and the design is really noticeable amongst other down jackets. Patagonia really did a great job with this one. I feel comfortable layering it up or just using it as a light jacket. Keep in mind that it's not the warmest jacket and if you're using it under 50 degrees, I think you'll find you'll want a thick sweater under it. It's perfect to handle that shoulder season between Fall to Winter, but you'll want something heavier with chilly conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for those cool evenings! I bought this jacket about a month ago and added it to my collection of other Patagonia down jackets. The Men's down shirt is the perfect weight for cool Minnesota evenings. It is light weight and blocks the wind and is just right for temps ranging from 40's to 60 either as a stand alone outer garment or for colder weather as an undergarment. I'm a big fan of Patagonia and you won't be disappointed with this "shirt" which I feel is more like a jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple comfort Added the down shirt to my collection (have Nano and "puff"). Lightweight is great and with down I don't overheat. Easy to stuff in a backpack as needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect in changeable weather Bought From 2 months . perfect jacket in changeable weather and FoR daily use. Didn't give 5 stars because the jacket definitely need a zipper in the internal pocket or the 2 externals. I would Aldo prefer an elastic on the wrist area ( when i ride my bike the air should stop on the wrists... )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light Weight I liked everything about this shirt, but decided to send it back for the down sweater which is just a little heavier, and a little warmer. Am going to be using it for backpacking mostly, but also day to day. If I was looking for very light weight, and a good layer, I would get this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely versatile This "shirt" is the most versatile piece of clothing I own. It is surprisingly warm and wind resistant despite how thin it is. On its own with just a long sleeve shirt on underneath it is comfortably warm down to the upper 30's. With a fleece on underneath it is comfortable at freezing and slightly below freezing. This was surprising for me because I bought this as a mid-layer, assuming it wouldn't be very warm on its own. It is very warm and wind blocking on its own. Worn under a shell and you can brave very cold temperatures. I am extremely happy with this product. Size is right on the money. I'm 6 feet tall, 170lbs and the medium fits perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Slightly odd fit, but comfortable and very warm Overall, I really dig this "shirt." The first time I tried it on, it felt a bit weird -- long, tight around the bottom of the shirt and baggy arms. But after a couple wears, I'm starting to like it more. The bottom of this shirt is meant to rest around/above your hips when you zip it up -- at least, that's what I found works best for me. The baggy arms isn't a big deal, especially if you layer it underneath a jacket like I do. On a warm bus ride, I found my body borderline overheating in this thing. Solid all-around down apparel.
