A DWR (durable water repellent) finish prevents saturation and increases abrasion-resistance. Inside, a brushed-tricot lining manages moisture and glides smoothly over underlayers. The two-way-adjustable, helmet-compatible hood has a laminated visor for optimal visibility. Other features include coated, watertight Slim Zip zippers, a fully featured powder skirt (with webbing loops that connect to any Patagonia® snow pants) and a pleated cuff gusset. Removable RECCO® avalanche rescue system at back of neck.

The construction of 2-Layer GORE-TEX® Products is unique. A GORE-TEX® membrane is bonded to an outer material, then combined with a free-flowing lining. The benefit: a soft, lightweight garment that keeps you dry and lets you move freely.

The GORE-TEX® membrane has 9 billion pores per square inch, with each pore 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet. These tiny holes are too small for water and wind to pass through from the outside. But these same pores are large enough for moisture vapor to pass through, so your body's perspiration is able to escape and you won’t feel clammy or uncomfortable inside your jacket.

Men's Front Country Uniform Jacket is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great jacket with a few weak points This is a great hard shell with sturdy construction(thick outer fabric) and slick/minimalist design. One main weakness seems to be the lack of pocket space, neither the chest pocket nor hand pockets are spacious enough to accommodate ski gloves and beanie. This may have to do with the intended users, namely PSIA members who usually have backpacks with extra space. In addition, there will be no objection from me to replace the cool embroidered logos with prints, as those puncture the fabric and have to be sealed again. Also the front Velcro name tag is quite distracting, it may help if a Patagonia Velcro patch is provided for those who do not use that for name tags. As for fits, to me a Medium would be great for around-town usage, but a Large is needed to accommodate layering. The lack of waist drawstring is another weakness, and the jacket seems to rely on the powder shirt to seal out cold/snow. Another point is that, since hard shells do not have attachments to anchor any inner layer(unlike 3-in-1), the sleeve's inner mesh liner is pulled out frequently while taking off the jacket, and this probably is not good for longevity of the Gore-Tex membrane.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Order a size smaller There is not much detail about the fit of this jacket but the fit is quite long and large at the waist. I'm athletic build - 5'10 and 170 lbs and the medium fits like a large. It would probably be great if you were looking for a long, baggy jacket. I'm going to try to exchange for a small. Otherwise the build and material feels great per Patagonia usual. The snow skirt seems like it would adequately keep snow out. The design is simple which is nice.
