Read More Close
The Micro Puff® Hoody delivers the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any jacket we’ve ever created. This unprecedented combination of warmth, minimal weight, and compressibility—even when wet—offers the versatility of synthetic without compromising the benefits and feel of down. The revolutionary PlumaFill insulation (65-g 100% polyester) is featherlight and compressible, offering down-level warmth that still traps your heat when it’s wet. A nylon ripstop Pertex Quantum® shell, with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, blocks wind and snow. The garment’s design maximizes performance and minimizes useless fluff. Features: zippered handwarmer pockets (the left pocket doubles as a stuffsack with a reinforced carabiner clip-in loop), a pair of sleek internal drop-in pockets (made without excess, using the backside of the handwarmer pocket bags), a light and simple under-the-helmet hood, and elasticized cuffs and hem.
Features
  • Ultralight nylon ripstop Pertex Quantum® shell is water-resistant, windproof and treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish

  • Innovative quilting construction complements the insulation by stabilizing and maximizing the loft of the PlumaFill strands with minimal stitching
  • Center-front zipper has wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Two welted zippered handwarmer pockets; left pocket doubles as a stuffsack with a reinforced carabiner clip-in loop
  • Under-the-helmet hood construction is light and simple
  • Elasticized cuffs and hem seal in warmth

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Men's Micro Puff® Hoody is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it but... I purchased the jacket 2 month ago and I have been wearing it in San Francisco and on a few hiking trips. In my experience it works very well when the temperature is below 50 F (10 C). Above that temperature I sweat a lot on my forearms. I love the lightness of the jacket and that it packs very small. I have also noticed small fibers of down coming out by the sleeve. Overall its a great jacket, but it does have a small range of temperatures to use it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect! Aside from the janky thrift store zipper and boxy fit, I love this jacket and I wear it all the time hiking, backpacking, skiing, naturalist work and go-to midlayer in cool weather. Better than expected wind resistance. Extremely comfortable, I hardly notice it. There's no reason to not have this jacket in your pack - it weighs nothing and compresses into a ball. It's always on my body or in my quiver. Hood fits well over bare head, cap or beanie or under a helmet and its warm. The shell is very thin but surprisingly durable - I've had it under a pack many times. However, it does shed insulation through the seams that I frequently need to trim. I have no use for the inside drop-in pockets and would prefer just one inside chest level zip pocket. I look forward to future iterations with an improved zipper and fit, but maximum respect to Patagonia for an amazing debut!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Jacket Bought this 2 days ago. Tried it on and was amazed how warm it was for the weight. This jacket will be perfect for Montana spring and fall. It fits so perfect and unlike my other Patagonia jackets this one has plenty of room in the shoulders. It will be perfect for fly fishing. Patagonia nailed it with this one! If I had the cash I would get a second one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Jacket!! This is my sons review and on the strength of opinion got one for my self. Worn mine every day. Very warm when used as an insulated layer, better than down, when used like this. Can’t wear anything over it unless it’s sub 5deg. Great when it gets funky, machine wash, quick dry. So practical. Also works as wind blocker when cycling, but also breathes so not too sweaty. Have a concern about how tough the material is if walking through the rough bush and snagging on branches ect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Windproof & Warm! I've used this hoody every day for 6 weeks, the thing is extremely versatile whether you wear it as an indoor sweater or on cold, windy outdoor 6-mile dogwalks. I'm 5-11/160 pounds, the Medium fits with enough room for 2 layers underneath. It's not the least bit stretchy (not a NanoAir), but it doesn't have to be – the "Regular Fit" is quite roomy. I love the extreme lightweight feel, the way the hood fits over a ball cap and the 'metrosexual' aesthetics of the shiny Pertex Quantum shell. My only suggestion would be for Patagonia to add 1-2 inches to the length, with a drawstring hem...but leave the PlumaFill as is, the stuff is amazingly warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lightweight Jacket I received this coat as a Christmas gift, and I really love it. First off this coat is more of a lightweight coat, but it is surprisingly warm. I have worn this coat for two months and have worn it many days in subzero temperatures. On those subzero days I have worn a sweatshirt or quarter zip with a vest with the micro puff as the top layer. I have been plenty warm with this combo. If you are buying this coat as a standalone coat in subzero temps with no layers then I would not recommend it. I am a person who likes to layer up in cold temps, so I have the option to pair down layers if need be. This is the perfect coat for that situation. This coat also has a very cool sleek look! It has a regular fit as Patagonia claims. I also have the nano air, and the micro puff is not as slim fit. It is definitely a little baggier. Overall I definitely recommend this coat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tech evolution, works as advertised, but ... I bought this Hoody sight unseen in September during the customer advance preview. Since then I've taken it backpacking in Yosemite and the Eastern Sierra. Also all-around everyday use. Amazing piece of gear. Instant warmth as soon as you put it on. Feels great on naked skin when worn with a short sleeve shirt. I've used it with my R1 jacket underneath. Sometimes under my Alpine Houdini in wet or very windy weather so I can use the Houdini's waist drawcord to seal out the wind. The large inner pockets are functional and useful for a number of things such as gloves, phone, etc. Hood fits and works perfectly for me. I like how I can zip the collar all the way up so the hood covers the back of my neck if I don't want to use the full hood. As one reviewer said .."this blows the current nano puff hoody out of the water". Agree completely. It weighs almost nothing. It's now my go-to jacket. Glad to see new spinoffs from this (jacket, vest). Great job Patagonia!! With all this said I'm giving it only 4 stars as this is my second Hoody. After a few weeks the first one started showing spider web size filaments pulling out from the seams almost everywhere. I started snipping them off, but it got to the point where I thought this certainly shouldn't be happening. Took it in for an exchange, however I've got the same problem with the new one. I note other reviewers have experienced the same issue. Surprised no one from Patagonia has chimed in on this issue. Finally, this jacket needs a proper hanging loop and not an extension of the Patagonia logo that's sewn it. It itches when it contacts one's bare skin on the neck. Still a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The future Plumafill is the future of ultralight outdoor products! Would love to see Patagonia make a ultralight plumafill sleeping bag.
