The alpine bouldering of the Rocky Mountains means long approaches, gnarled rock, fickle weather conditions and the occasional leap of faith on the downclimb. Through all of that, our multifaceted Sidesend Pants remain unfazed. Their 4-way stretch provides exceptional mobility and comfort when you’re bouldering, backpacking or traveling in dynamic terrain. Sidesends feature a stretch-woven fabric blend of 91% recycled polyester/9% spandex that’s treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to shed moisture. Lightweight, breathable, wind- and abrasion-resistant, they feature articulated knees and a gusseted crotch that allow the full range of mobility. A curved waistband provides a contoured fit and reduces any downward migration. Four pockets keep you organized, and a slightly slimmed-down, tapered silhouette ensures your feet stay clear of excess fabric. Inseam is 32".
  • Comfortable, multifunctional all-season pants made of a midweight, stretch-woven 91% recycled polyester/9% spandex blend; wind-, weather- and abrasion-resistant with 4-way stretch technology; with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish and 50+ UPF sun protection
  • Slim fit: cut to sit on the waist with a regular rise. Slim through the leg, close at the thigh and slim to the ankle. Seat, thigh and leg are slightly more fitted while still providing freedom of movement in any activity. Best for lean-to-medium builds wanting a sleeker look that doesn't compromise mobility
  • Curved waistband contours to the natural shape of the hips and provides a close fit to keep pants in place during movement; metal button closure with zip fly
  • Two slanted zippered handwarmer pockets; one right-rear zippered pocket; one zippered drop-in cargo pocket on right leg
  • Front and back knee articulation and gusseted crotch allow for full range of motion
  • Available in three inseam lengths: 30", 32" and 34"
  • 6.2-oz 91% recycled polyester/9% spandex with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, 4-way stretch and 50+ UPF sun protection. Fabric is bluesign® approved

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Sidesend Pants - Reg is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable pants! 2nd pair of these. Fit is great and very comfortable. Only complaint is only one back pocket. True to size (40x32).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice material but too slim The description on the website is accurate. These pants are slim fit, and better for those with a thin frame. I am of medium build and found them to be way too constricting. The material felt like it would be very warm, if these pants came in a larger cut, I would have kept them for sure. I returned them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great features, amazing fit, won't last Bought these pants for the water resistance. After one wash, I noticed the pants were a little discolored. Figured it was an oil stain, until I poured a little water on it. The discoloration is from the DWR washing out. It sucks up water now... Literally after one wash, the primary reason why I got these pants are no longer there. I've had these for a week

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design Shortcomings This is the lowest I have graded a Patagonia product. The issue is the quality and consistency of design rather than the quality and consistency of materials and manufacturing. My issue is the zippered drop-in cargo pocket on right leg. It is smaller and shallower than the zippered drop-in cargo pants in simple guide pants, guide pants, or field pants. It would be helpful for those of us loving your pants not to have to guess on pockets, belt loops, two way zippers, etc from products designed for somewhat similar purposes. While a small notebook and a smart phone fit in the simple guide pants, guide pants, or field pants, they do not fit in the Sidesend Pants as the Cargo Pocket is approximately two inches less in height. I recommend that your match your world class quality control with world class standards for simple features. Make pants, with zippered pockets, belt loops, two way zippers, and pockets that are consistent from product line to product line that are intended for similar purposes. Yes Patagonia needs a pocket advocate. Good fit on the pants and the materials and workmanship are outstanding. Flexible and functional except I can't put my iPhone in the cargo packet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great comfort and movement I bought these pants for colder trails and coaching duties. Sneaky enough to wear at work after a walk to the gym. Really comfortable for kicking around or athletic movements

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pants. Wish they made them low rise though Love these pants they are cool. Great for bouldering outside in the cold. I wish there was a low rise version. The length from the crotch to the button is so long that these pants make me look like Steve Urkel when ever I wear my pants higher to get full range of motion. I wish Patagonia made pants tailored to younger guys that prefer pants that don't reach their belly buttons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nicely made but ... Very well made, fit exactly as described. The slight downside for me is that they don't breath very well. Moderate activity gives a bit of a clammy feel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This replaced the Simple Guide Pant? This seems very similar to the Simple Guide Pant that appears to be discontinued. I like that pant a lot, though it's a tad warm for summer climbing. Great in the alpine or shoulder seasons though.
