Surf Cloudbreak all morning, kite Swimming Pools all afternoon—the Fiji timetable ain’t half bad. Protecting you from the elements both in and out of the water, the Stretch Terre Planing Hoody is made from the same fast-drying fabric as our Stretch Planing Board Shorts. Its superlight, 100% recycled polyester has 2-way mechanical stretch, 50+ UPF sun protection and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish; the fixed 3-panel hood with adjustable drawcords protects from sun and wind and has a snap tab for easy stowing. The full-zip design has a single-pull drawcord hem, and durable elastic cuffs have thumb loops to keep sleeves in place while paddling or kiting. Two self-draining, mesh-lined front slash pockets are secured with corrosion-proof zippers and have zipper pulls for ease of use. Hidden entry detail at bottom left yoke provides kite harness compatibility; a harness can be hooked in from underneath or worn over the jacket.

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Stretch Terre Planing Hoody is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight and cool I layer my waders over nano air pants and hoody then the terre planing hoody as the top layer. It's light weight, dries quickly and the pockets are mesh so water drains easily where as my torrent shell pockets used to fill up and hold water if I waded deep enough. Haven't worn it in summer yet, we'll see if I use it or just stick with the tech sun shade hoody.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect layer over Nano-Air hoody! Although only DWR, I hunted for 2 days in light and moderate rain and had no leaks at all. It breathed surprisingly well during high exertion and packs down to almost nothing. Best of all, it's suprisingly quiet. Even with both the Nano-Air hood and this hood up (during cold, rainy conditions), I could still hear surrisingly well. If you've ever been annoyed at the swish swish of most nylon hoods, your going to love the relative quiet of this peice. Of course, as with any coating, the waterproofness won't last as long as a membrane layer, and it will required some maintenance, but Oh SO worth it! It stretches, it's quiet, it works in a wide variety of conditions, and it's good looking enough for street ware! As Patagonia recommends for DWR, it shouldn't be depended on as a lifesaving waterproof layer when in the backcountry, but I doubt I'll go anywhere without it. These few ounces of weight are well worth it, and my backpack wieghs less than 12 lbs fully loaded for a week long trip. I also used it to work out in during colder/wetter weather and it's great. Of course, it doesn't breathe as well as a non-coated wind resistant only layer, but when unzipped, it's fitted enough, stretchy enough, and light enough to make up for the minor breathability disadvantage of a DWR product. Just make sure to not order it too big if you're going to do really high exertion sports, because you'll likely unzip it at some point. With a little more testing, this may prove as revolutionary a piece as Nano-Air insulation already is!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so water resistant Recent rains in California allowed me to test the water resistance of this hoodie. In a moderate rain my back and shoulders were soaked within 10 minutes. Not good protection in a persistent rain and wind event. Better suited for a light sprinkle or heavy fog. Fits good and I like the features but not a do everything jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Simple as that! I was looking for something lightweight and durable to withstand just about anything I put it through and this is exactly it. I am pretty rough on clothing so this jacket is perfect for what ever I need. Fits really well and looks great too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great simple lightweight jacket I really like this jacket for every activity outside. I have worn it on my bike, hiking up in the mountains, late afternoons on the lake, during light drizzling rain while in the city, and just hanging out around town. Jacket is super light and packs down into a small ball to be stuffed in a backpack. Only issue is the length is a little long but no big issue. I have a Medium - 5'10" and 165 lbs

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Able to withstand a Monkey Bite! I just got back from a two week surf-trip to Bali, and this jacket was amazing. I actually have two of them (the blue and the grey camo) - a small and an extra small. I bought a small the first round; however, after wearing it several times before my trip I felt like it was too baggy ( I am 5'8 140lbs.) especially if it were to get wet. So, I ordered the grey camo in the extra small and it fit perfectly. At first I was going to sell the small on eBay, but I decided to keep it as a back up. Basically, I wore the grey camo as my travel jacket, and I took the blue along on my surf excursions, which worked out great. The weather in Bali was hot and tropical and the jacket was breathable and kept the sun off - a must after surfing for hours. As a travel jacket it was perfect! Total flight time for the trip was 20 hours on a plane and I kept the jacket on the entire time - it didn't wrinkle and kept me warm when they would crank the air up. On a side note, I went to Monkey Forest in Ubud and while taking a picture with a monkey, it got spooked and bit my arm; however, it didn't go through the material of the jacket! Not sure if Patagonia will put this in their product description, but needless to say the material is strong! I don't kite surf, so the tag connection is a moot point for me. I do wish it had chest pocket or an interior pocket for a wallet or passport. I hate putting my wallet in my hand pocket because I'm always concerned of something falling out when you use the pockets for my hands, which is why I gave it a 4-star. Overall, rad jacket. Patagonia delivered on this one.
