When that monster permit finally shows, you can’t afford to be wiped from heat and sun. That’s where the ultralight Sunshade Crew comes to the rescue: its airy, 100% polyester jersey fabric and 25-UPF sun protection work to keep you cool and comfortable in the high temperatures of the lower latitudes. Its technical features include thumb holes that pull the sleeves down to cover the backs of the hands, and a vertical-zip pocket on the front-left chest that keeps small valuables secure; the zipper is durable plastic to prevent corrosion in marine environments. The Sunshade can’t cure permit nerves—but hey, at least you’ll be ready when the time comes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a quality fishing shirt Had purchased 2 sunshade crew shirts. Great looking colors however poor quality. At the time of trying on the shirts both snaggged immediately Extremely dissaponted with Patagonia Needless to say both shirts where returned the next day for a refund

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hot shirt I was quite disappointed in this shirt. I live outside Charleston SC and spend tons of time on beach, board, and boat. Must be our high humidities, this shirt is just hot. Will wear it more in our mild winters. I can't imagine fishing in this shirt in the Bahamas or further south. I fished it up here and thought I would pass out. Still love you Patagonia

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not limited to saltwater pursuits I own three of these shirts and they are fantastic! The material is light so it breathes. Plenty of shoulder room in this shirt for single and yes, two-handed casting. Summer steelhead fishing in the Deschutes canyon can be pretty hot. This shirt helps make it bearable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stays Dirty Bought this shirt in white for a family trip to Florida. Wore it 3 times and it got a few scuffs on it and a bit dirty from standard wear and tear...and for being white. Got home and washed it, twice, and all the dirt marks are still there. It's basically ruined. Probably my fault for getting it in white but perhaps it should never have been made in that color if it can't get dirty. My tropic comfort in yellow cleaned up nicely. I'm a Patagonia junkie and this is the first product to ever disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!!! Fantastic shirt! I know it's hard to believe that a long sleeve shirt can keep you cool in the sun. But this shirt does it!! I need one in every color!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and cool in extreme heat I have two old crews from Patagonia that are similar to this new Sunshade crew. The first one is light and breathable. The second is comfortable with better 50 UPF protection, but too hot on the Florida flats in summer because it doesn't breathe as well. In deciding between the Tropic Comfort Crew II and the Sunshade Crew, I chose the lower sun protection and lighter weave of the Sunshade Crew. I am glad that I did as it has more than enough sun protection for my uses, and has proven to be light and breathable on the flats in extreme heat, more like the first crew that I bought years ago. Normally I wear a Patagonia Large in t-shirts, having a chest size of 44 and a neck size of 16 1/2. But at 6'4" with a 36" sleeve length, I have always bought Patagonia XL shirts and crews for flats fishing. The Sunshade XL actually fits me quite well. It's slimmer fit means that the XL is just slightly loose on my "L" body, but with the perfect sleeve length for my "XL" arms. It allows me to use the thumbholes, providing great hand protection with excellent mobility making it very easy to cast a tarpon rod. Since the Large has an advertised sleeve length of 35", most people will want to stay true to size, unlike I did. Overall a great shirt. Plenty of protection on the flats when worn with Patagonia's Sun Mask.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Sunshade Yet I've been relying on the Sunshade for years, and this is the best iteration by far. The fabric is soft and does not pull (like older Sunshade crews and hoodies). I found the fit of this version to be ideal - not too baggie and not to tight (I'm 5'11" and 160 lb, with knuckle-dragging arms, and the Medium is perfect). For colder days on the flats, I layer the Sunshade overtop a merino wool short or long sleeve. This version also washes really nicely, even when you slime it up. Bottom line - great product.
