Separated by an hour’s drive, Vancouver’s bustling Robson Street and Mount Seymour Trail share two traits–a feast for the eyes and a lot of rain. Lightweight and travel-friendly, the Torrentshell provides full storm protection whether you’re making your way through drizzle or slogging through seriously soaking conditions. It has a supple 2.5-layer, 100% recycled nylon ripstop shell with a tenacious waterproof/breathable barrier to block drenching rain and vent your internal combustion. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish increases water- and abrasion-resistance. The hood features a laminated visor that holds its shape in the wind and 2-way adjustability for a personalized fit. Internal and external storm flaps cover the front 2-way zipper; the external flaps have hidden snap closures for added protection. Plenty of pockets keep you organized, including two chest pockets, two lower top-loading front pockets, and two handwarmers lined with fleece for skin comfort. An internal adjustable drawcord keeps out wind and cold air. Lower hip length.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Men's Torrentshell Parka is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Parka! Why did you change the cuffs? I have bought and returned this jacket twice. Patagonia seems to be the LAST company to make a rain shell in parka length!!! Why? I have an old Patagonia Storm Shell, 10 or 15 years old? It's a dark eggplant color and had the zip-in fleece option that is still awesome. It wasn't available in black back then. I wanted something I could use for travel AND wear over a sport coat when commuting to work in bad weather. Love everything about the new Torrentshell Parka, except the cuffs. The Torrentshell jacket (too short to wear over a sports jacket or suit jacket) has velcro cuffs and the sleeve are long so your hands can be inside the cuffs when it's pouring out. The Torrentshell Parka has elastic cuffs with two snaps designed to keep the heat in and wind out. The problem (design team) is that it forces water right on your hand which really sucks when it's 35 degrees and raining hard. Cold soaked hands. Ugh, so tormented after I returned my defective LL BEAN Goretex trench. I agree with the Patagonia mantra to have one item that you can use for your recreational activities and for work. The problem is that fewer items can cross over as they are optimized for outdoor, sport specific use. I REALLY hope this can get some attention from the leadership at Patagonia. I am such a loyal client, from board shorts and SPF shirts, to fleece jackets, R1, R2, Nanopuff jacket and vest, to a variety of shirts. I love what Patagonia stands for and it bums me out why the sleeve/cuff was not consistent on this parka. I am incredibly confident that this would be a best seller if the cuff issue was changed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great everyday rain jacket I had been looking for a good everyday rain jacket for a while found this amazing jacket online. I really like the look and feel of the jacket. Great for everyday wear on the rainy north west.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just a bit snug... Outstanding quality, as usual however its pretty tight under the arms for a "parka". with a shirt the fit is acceptable. With a lightweight fleece: OK as well..barely. With a 300 Polartec...really tight. Was hoping for a little looser fit but WILL make it work.
