bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Micro D Gaiter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I just got this neck gaiter in the mail - it is perfection. The fleece is substantial and the size is exactly what I wanted. The circumference of the gaiter is just right, it fits flush to my face and back of my head (no extra room for wind of snow to sneak in), and the length is equally excellent (long enough to come down just past my clavicle for that added comfort and warmth). In other words, not one of those flimsy gaitors that have you wondering why they are in the adult section of the store. Honestly, the picture on the website doesn't do this item justice - check out some of the google images to see for yourself (that's what I did)! Thanks Patagonia, and maybe consider putting up some dimensions on the website to help potential customers make the right choice (yes, this is the gaiter you want).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cozy fabric & perfect design Just received and can't wait to use in upcoming cooler temps. Most scarves add bulk and get in the way or are made of wool which I can't wear. One and done, brilliant!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for winter steelhead fishing! Spent four hours today steelhead fishing on the Niagara River in 25 degree weather and this gaiter was one of the best Patagonia purchases I've made in awhile. Kept my neck and face toasty warm the whole time. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it Have bought all colors to replace all my old, worn gaiters from years ago. Should have done sooner, what a heavenly difference from this cozy warmth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have The simplest thing. It's pure genius. Don't even realize you you're wearing it. No chafe, no perspiration, no cold wind gets in and no warm air gets out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps the warm in! I recently went into the BWCA for a day of exploration. When I left the truck it's thermometer read -23. The high that day was -8. I was out from sunrise to sunset dressed in Patagonia from head to foot. My neck gaitor played an important role by sealing off my torso at the neck. It kept the warmth down inside my jacket and prevented the wind from chilling my neck and chin. This piece is a no brainer to keep out the wind and cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from warm Just the thing to add to the frigid, cold mountain bike ride! It keeps the neck and chin warm and does not allow the build up of perspiration. If the jacket has a rough top, it protects as well. I have not used it for such, but it would probably come in handy if you had to stand around in the cold, say, watching a parade in the late fall.
