Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old school classic! I purchased my first Wavefarer cap last year as I liked the plain design without decals or fluff. Once I received my hat I was pleasantly surprised at how large the fit was and awesome the flat bill turned out. The fit is large - it runs large. I have a large head so the sizing doesn't cause me any issues. I use for any outdoor activity, generally this hat goes wherever I go. In reference to the 'weird point' from previous review - its a vintage cut which replicates some of the older style baseball caps of the 70s and 80s - flat bill with lots of head room. The point is folks, it's meant to look that way. The material is also very durable even after 50 washes. I just ordered the forge grey color just so I have a back up in case this design gets discontinued. Keep up the great work!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best summer hat I've found so far for a big head I've been looking for a hat that will do well in the heat and in the water, this is it so far. Love the material, it's super light weight and dries quickly. The band around the inside soaks up sweat and so far it hasn't stained from sweat yet. I have a bigger head so the Low profile caps usually don't work. This one is the perfect size though it seems to tighten up after being wet, so it's a little snug once it dries. The only thing I'd change about it is the snaps on the back, id rather have a nylon clip to synch it down, and the bump on the top of the cap I'd get rid of ( didn't work well under a helmet)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from all around great hat for any outdoor adventure bought this hat in the desert camo color on sale from the Santa Cruz outlet. I've taken it on plenty of outdoor adventures and keep it in my car so it's always ready to grab when I need it. the flat brim provides plenty of shade for your face and the ample depth allows room to pull the hat down partially over your ears. It's light and breathable and has a padded mesh headband that feels nice on and easily wicks away moisture. there's a mesh flap on the inside to hold the form in the front, but I like that it can easily be cut out to have a deconstructed look and feel. this is a classic design done right and hopefully it sticks around in the catalog for the long haul. I will be purchasing more as needed or if there's a new color I can't pass up. good for the water or on the mountain and anywhere in between.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wayfarer I Cannot See a Thing In This Cap I ordered a S/M - huge on my lil' pin head, guess I need one of the lower profile caps. Swallowing me whole down over my ears almost completely - good for incognito pursuits I suppose . . . . comes w/flat wide brim - imagine one could mold it into a curved brim if desired. The material is nice though - did see a comment reviewer that indicated cap appeared cheap - is well made, just big, big I cannot see a thing in this cap Sir!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really bad I'm shocked - usually a big fan of Patagonia gear, but this is horrible. Material feels super cheap, fit is poor, shape is ridiculously bad - looks really awkward. There is a weird point in the middle on the top, no size (using adjustable snaps) is comfortable. I've had other Patagonia hats, and don't know how they messed up so badly on this one. Bought on sale and only reason I'm not returning it is I don't want to spend more money on the dang thing. Will wear surfing/traveling, and will not be sad if it gets lost.
