Whether sitting out the night on a tiny ledge or climbing multipitch ice in January, the Fitz Roy Down Parka delivers incredible loft and forced-bivy-level warmth at only 19 ounces. Traceable Down (800-fill-power goose down from geese traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked, as certified by NSF, an independent third party) traps your heat inside a fully baffled 100% nylon shell (with DWR (durable water repellent) finish) that sheds snow and moisture, and utilizes a special high-sheen fabric construction in the hood, shoulders and arms for enhanced water resistance. The helmet-compatible, single-pull hood has an internal heat-locking high-loft chamber on the back of the neck, and internal draft tubes eliminate cold spots along the 2-way center-front zipper. Cut long with a full coverage drop-tail hem (dual-adjust cord locks lock in warmth); three exterior zippered pockets (two high handwarmers and an exterior left chest); and one large, internal drop-in pocket for warming frozen gloves. Soft, low-profile, internal elastic-bound cuffs push up easily, and the included stuffsack has a built-in clip-in loop.
  • Lightweight and durable 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® fabrics throughout; a high-sheen Pertex Quantum® Y-yarn fabric on the hood, shoulders and arms has interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance DWR (durable water repellent) performance

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Women's Fitz Roy Down Parka is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very warm! I am enjoying wearing this garment. It is warm and very light weight. I got good service and the sales associate found a black one for me at another location. The jacket is a bit puffiet than i wanted. However I am very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fitz Roy Down Parka I purchased this specifically for keeping warm while ice climbing. I tend to get extremely cold when I stop moving. The parka fit really well over my hardshell and keeps me comfortable while not moving for extended periods of time. I'm very busty (32G) so typically I have problems with restriction in the chest from getting things to close over my chest and maintain full shoulder mobility. It's very puffy but easy to moving in without feeling restricted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a sleeping bag for your torso! I've been using this jacket for about 6 weeks in Montana, and it's been COLD. I love how small it packs down and fits in my pack while I'm hiking. The large inside pocket is awesome. Super cozy. I smile every time I put it on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a great coat! So warm but also lightweight. It makes me happy to put it on because it's so incredibly cozy. It's surprising that a synthetic material can be so soft next to the skin. Definite a great choice when you need extra warmth. It's puffy but not ridiculous. Also, I was worried that it would feel too flashy for me, but the photos actually make it look a bit glossier than it is in person.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! Now my go-to parka Have had my eye on the Fitz Roy for a while and finally got one. Probably the most comfortable & warm parka I've ever owned. Lightweight, comfortable. Hood snugs in nicely around your melon. Length is just right to cover your butt. I'm not sure how it would hold up to a lot of precipitation, but in cold snow it's dandy. Enthusiastically recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Parka Some folks might say that this parka makes you look fat. Honestly, who cares - this parka is light, packable, and extremely warm. It is comfortable and bundles you up in a way that feels sleeping-bag-like. Wearing it at a lake on a -6 degree day or wearing it on the capitol to march for human rights... either way, it's great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not exceed expectations I bought this jacket hoping it would be warm enough to camp in sub-zero temperatures but after testing it out on the slopes and snowshoeing at night, I know it won't be. I've paired the jacket with merino wool base layer, Patagonia down shirt and Patagonia Gortex shell and I was cold when I stopped moving. But the jacket did keep me warm around town in milder temperatures. The jacket also run large. I am 5'2", 115lbs, 34-27-35, short-waisted and I bought the extra small based on some of the other reviews but I still found it to be fairly roomy and a bit too long so it sits awkwardly around my hips causing the bottom zipper to unzip as I move around. Even getting the jacket on sale (nearly half price), I still don't think it's worth the $$$ as it can't be used for it's intended purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent It's warm and light. However, you shouldn't continuously wear this coat with a backpack on; the down has either gotten thinner in the shoulder area, or has migrated away, which leaves me with cold spots.
