bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Women's Micro D Jacket is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favorites! I love the fabric of this fleece jacket. I would've loved a hooded version but this one is great too, with it's high collar that zips up to the neck. It's light-weight, breathable and is a nice layering piece or a stand-alone jacket on days that are slightly chilly (50-60 degrees Fahrenheit). It's a regular fit, so if you like it snug size down. According to the size charts, I'm a small (36-inch bust and 27-inch waist) but I found the small to be too large so I got an XS and it fits just fine with room underneath if I want to wear a bulkier shirt. The navy blue is gorgeous, not too dark. Looks great on olive skin. (See photo.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly versatile Simple, everyday fleece with a relaxed fit and super versatility. Great for walking the dog, throwing on over running and yoga gear, hiking, and relaxing. I'm 5'6" athletic, 140 lbs; medium is cozy and gives plenty of room for layer underneath. For such ease and versatility, Patagonia would do well to make this in more colors!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT layering piece! This micro d full zip jacket is my all-time favorite layering piece. It's warm, without being bulky and fitted enough to fit under another layer without being tight. It was great in the summer for air-conditioned theaters and restaurants, and great in the winter under my nanopuff jacket. Great piece for traveling. I'll be buying another color this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight zip up Ordered this jacket on a whim and LOVE it!!! Unlike some of the negative reviews stated, this jacket is what it is described. If you read the description and watch the video it shows everything. I can see this being a key piece in my wardrobe for the next few years. The tall neck will be great when it gets chilly and I forget a scarf. It is slightly overpriced for what it really is, but I'm not super shocked. If they were $20 cheaper I would be buying another in the blue color! If you are looking for a light weight fleece though, THIS is your buy!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it, but... This jacket would have easily received 5 stars if the stitching on the sleeve hadn't began to unravel after its first wash. The fit is flattering, shows off the curves a bit which I love. The best part is the neck is a little wider so I can comfortably zip it ALL the way up without feeling constrained.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Huge, stiff neck is awful I am very disappointed in the new neck style of the Micro D jacket. I have 5 of these from 3 years ago that I love because they fit great, are multi-seasonal, and easy to pack. So I was happy to see the jacket version come back this year and ordered Black and Emerald (which is a nice bright green teal). Unfortunately, the 2015 model has a neck that’s too wide, uncomfortably stiff, overly high, and too bulky for a 100-weight fleece jacket. When the neck is zipped up, it's so high that if I move my head to look down, my lips go below the top of the neck (and if I had lipstick or gloss on, it would get on the jacket). Even without looking down, the neck comes up well over my chin, again too much for a 100-weight jacket. With the neck open and turned down it’s not much better, as it looks like 2 big, stiff wings across your upper chest. The rest of the jacket fits great (I'm 5'4, 110 lb., and got XS) but it should have retained the lower, softer neck it used to have (which the 1/4 zip version fortunately still has). I’m returning both of them.
