Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Great Patagonia Top I have worn the Women's Micro Swell Rashguard tops (I bought 2) several times and love them. I only have to put sunscreen on my neck and face and legs showing now. The tops are comfortable and I wasn't overheated wearing them. I bought board shorts that go with one of them and look forward to wearing them both in the ocean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fit not good, bring back old long sleeved version I have been wearing your rash guards for years. This one is a big disappointment. I ordered the XS and it is still HUGE. It rides up and when swimming has lots of drag. Please please bring back the old model below, it fit slim and tight with no drag. http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/womens-long-sleeved-rashguard?p=71864-1

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why is the men's better??? I'm disappointed in you Patagonia. Women need great hard working surf gear too. Just took this rash guard on a week long surf safari in Costa Rica to chase waves. While the men's R0 top is fully featured with 4-way mechanical stretch, thumb loops, and a button loop to connect to your board shorts...this women's rash guard is missing all of those things. Surfing point breaks and pounding waves means I want my rash guard connected to my board shorts so it doesn't pop up when I fall off my board. Thumbs loops not only mean protection for the back of my hands from the sun, but keeps the sleeves down when doing long paddles after sweet rides into shore. Two positives about this rash guard -- the cut and fit is great. Not clingy and fits nicely and protected me very well from the tropical sun. But otherwise, needs work and is a much inferior product to the men's rash guard.
