Quandary Pants were made for sticky situations, like choosing which pants to wear for the next 15 days or for a hot and humid Tepui approach. They’re made with lightweight and stretchy 96% nylon/4% spandex with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish and provide 40-UPF sun protection. These technical pants are gusseted and have articulated knees for mobility. Built for versatility, you can roll them up and secure them with tabs and snaps at the knees. They feature a metal-snap closure, zippered fly, belt loops and drop-in pockets on the front and back. The side cargo pocket zips and secures valuables. Inseam (size 8) is 32".

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfort I love these pants! Comfort and fit are perfect, very similar to the rock pants I purchased a couple years ago. Patagonia you got it going on!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, but sturdy Needed some new hiking pants and am very happy with these! They actually fit my short frame without being baggy in the rear or too long. I'm 5'4", 111lbs and size 2 are comfortable...not too loose, not too tight. When I have a full backpack on, they slipped down the hips a bit, but using the drawstring helped keep them up. They were comfortable on chilly evenings and also during the heat of the day, plus I love the gray color! A friend I was backpacking with actually ordered her own pair once we got home!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance on Kilimanjaro I climb in these pants routinely and they are perfect for both indoor and outdoor climbing. The fabric is strong enough to hold up against jagged edges of rock, but still extremely flexible and allows great movement. The pants really earned their marks on a recent trek up Kilimanjaro. They were sufficiently warm for low altitude days and layered better than I expected when the temperatures started dropping. They are also super-quick-drying. I had an incident in nature's bathroom and by the time I got back to laugh about it with my group, the pants had already dried... these pants earned my undying loyalty after that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great in the Sonoran Desert Bought these pants because I'm beyond the age for shorts. They were great, kept me cool and unsunburned. Used them at the beach too and they dry in a flash when the waves caught me. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, but previous design was better Pro: Fabric is durable, breathable and repels both water and mud well. Pockets are well placed and fits well with one exception with new design of this product. Con: Main difference I noted in new design is wider waist. They must have known this and added a drawstring that, unfortunately, is not very strong and stretches out after the first few uses. Bit of a bummer when backpacking as pack pushes down the waist of the pants and I am constantly pulling them up or folding the top over. With the previous design, I never had this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wore these climbing 5 days in a row These are my favourite climbing pants hands down. I've had these pants for about 6 months, and have worn them every time I go climbing, these pants hold up great. I'm 5' 8" and weigh about 130lbs, I went with size 4 and they fit great. Love these pants!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Peru Took these beauties as my only pants to Peru for two months. After climbing up muddy slopes, sliding down rocky terrain, and hand-rinsing in glacial streams, these pants are my new favorites. They held their shape for weeks on end without a soak and still looked classy when we finished our trip by going out on the town in Lima. Their lightweight material mattered when we were counting ounces but the added zipper on the back pocket and thigh pocket were perfect for stashing trail beta or a passport. Plus they dried overnight even in the rainforest. Couldn't ask for a better replacement for the long-missed Rock Craft pants. Now I'm back for another pair! I'm 5'8", 150# and the 8s were a dream. Thanks for pulling through Patagonia!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for sport cragging These are my go-to climbing pants. The fabric is comfortable and durable, and the cut is flattering. I am 5'9", 140lbs, athletic build. I ordered these in a size 6 and a size 4. I am sticking with the size 6 because the rise is too short on the size 4 (I felt like I was exposing myself when bending over or high-stepping on a route). Plus, with the size 6, the pant is still comfy with a pair of long underwear underneath. I agree with a previous post that the waist is too big. There is a stretchy drawstring, which I replaced with a non-stretchy drawstring. The pants are too short for me, but I nearly always have them rolled up while climbing and hiking, so the ankle gap is not an issue for me. That said, I would love an option for a longer inseam.
