bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Women's R1® Pullover is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new work staple! Perfect layering piece for spring, fall, and winter. I work with horses and I love that I can just brush the hay and hair off with my hand. I love the slim fit so that I can wear a vest over it, and the smooth finish on the outside means outer layers glide right over. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 Season I work outside in the elements all year long (in Idaho with 4 seasons) and absolutely love this shirt! I have a couple of smalls but since having a baby and gaining a few extra belly pounds, I now am more comfortable wearing the medium and have ordered another 5 (one for each day of the week, ha)! I also enjoy wearing them during my outside activities. I enjoy wearing them on cold and windy spring days, during the winter, and on brisk fall days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from W’s R1 Great warm layer, love the emerald color. I’m 5’8” 150 - 160 and got the L, fits great with long enough arms and room to move. Could be a bit more forgiving in the chest circumference, that is way 4* instead of 5*.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pullove I bought this a month ago. Using it for layering while skiing and now while hiking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this! The fit of this is really good and pretty flattering . I am usually a small in Patagonia baselayers but needed a medium in this to wear it over clothes comfortably. My favorite part is the color (Lupine), which is gorgeous and perfect for every season. Downside is that the pocket is in kind of a strange place rather than at the bottom of the torso, but is presumably what makes the fit more flattering than a regular fleece or sweatshirt, so it's a tradeoff. It kept me v. warm with just a merino baselayer down to about 55 degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the chest pocket! I've had this pullover for about a month & I love it. It's warm, lightweight, and functional. I love the easy access pocket to put my id, cards, and cash. Would definitely purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for winter running Fantastic fleece that is warm and built for outdoor activities. It was all I needed for a 35F run over a UnderArmor ColdGear shirt. The R1 is meant as a base layer to be tight fitting (with plenty of room to move), and will feel tighter than a regular fleece. I'm 5'3'', 106 lbs, 32A, and the XS fits perfectly. I highly recommend this product. Would love to see some more versatile colors (women don't have to wear only pink/purple).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved this product but this year's a little small Like others, I have LOVED this item (last one was from 10 years ago or so and I still wear it!). That is why I wanted another. Got it for a Christmas gift, tried it on (size M, my standard, 5'7", 140 lbs) and was bummed that it felt tight in the arms, across chest and up under pits. A jacket over it really makes it feel binding and it doesn't feel like it has enough stretch to accommodate. Not as stretchy as my other definitely. However, I love my old shirt so much that I will try it again in the future.
