Additional Information

The ultimate cold-weather midlayer, our hybrid-design R2® Jacket provides exceptionally breathable, quick-drying warmth in our most compressible Regulator® style.

Read More Close
For northern latitudes, frigid starts and cold weather, the highly refined construction and fabric of this Regulator® fleece traps heat and breathes freely to keep you warm and comfortable across a wide range of conditions. The main body relies on high-loft Polartec® Thermal Pro® 63% recycled polyester fabric, which is superlight, wicking, compressible, stretchy and soft. R1® Polartec Power Grid® high/low grid panels wrap each cuff and run along the underside of the arms and down the sides to improve fit, mobility and comfort range. The cuffs’ spiral-seam construction won’t constrict your forearms when you push up the sleeves, and the softly lined inner collar and kissing-welt zipper garage go easy on the neck and chin. Other details: sonic/stitch seam construction on all zippers reduces bulk, offset shoulder seams stay clear of pack straps, zippers close the external pockets (one chest and two handwarmers, above harness line), and the handwarmers’ pocket bags double as stealthy internal mesh drop-in pockets.
  • Exceptionally warm, directionally knit Polartec® Thermal Pro® fabric is breathable, compressible, wicks moisture and dries quickly
  • Polartec® Power Grid® on side panels, sleeves and cuffs improves fit, breathability and abrasion resistance
  • Technical fit, underarm gussets and raglan sleeves increase mobility and comfort under outerwear and packs
  • All zippers have Sonic/Stitch seam construction to reduce bulk and improve suppleness; soft kissing-welt zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Spiral-seam construction at cuff allows sleeves to push up easily without constricting forearms
  • One left-chest pocket and two high handwarmer pockets have slim zip installs, clean-finished zipper garages and are harness- and pack-compatible; two interior drop-in mesh pockets

Regulator® fleece insulation provides phenomenal compressibility, light weight warmth, and moisture transport, whether used alone or as part of a layering system.

The lofted hollow-core fibers of Regulator fleece insulation conserve body heat while allowing body moisture to wick uninhibited. They’re also lightweight and highly compressible for packing.

Regulator Fleece Insulation provides exceptional breathability to keep you dry on the inside and while Regulator fleece provides the same amount of warmth as a much bulkier fleece, it does so with lighter, more compressible materials. Since you stay both dryer and warmer, you’re able to maintain your comfort over a wide temperature range, which results in fewer layering changes and a lighter, less bulky pack.

Women's R2® Jacket is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from my favorite of the Rs My first was r1 and it's been a staple go-to layer, but often found it lacking warmth and coziness. I still grab it for layering when active outdoors, but more because it's several years old and I don't mind beating it up. But the r2 is my favorite - warmer and so cozy. I don't want to use it as a technical layer because it's too nice! I also purchased the r3 but in men's (on sale and w's r3 had terrible color choices) in size S and it makes for a roomy and warm layer. I'm 5'1 and 95 lbs and have r1 and r2 in XS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit I originally wanted to purchase an everyday type of fleece jacket that I could wear over bulkier things. When I got this jacket I was a little wary of it being so fitted, but I love it. It's very comfortable and unlike most fleece jackets, it is flattering. I'm 5'3 140 lbs and the medium fits me perfectly. It's cozy warm and I've been wearing it all winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm but breathable I love this polar fleece. I have mostly been using it for ski touring. Overtop of a baselayer, it keeps me warm when we stop moving but is breathable enough to wear for high outputs. It also fits really well, I am 5'7" 145lbs and the medium is snug but big enough for a thick base layer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely Disappointed I had purchased this jacket approximately 2 years ago. My luggage was stolen and the jacket was inside. I was absolutely SICK! It had been my all time favorite jacket. I ordered a new one immediately and could not believe the difference between the two. The older jacket was perfect for windy days-definately wind proof and kept me very warm. It was perfect for layering when I traveled to Antactica. The new jackets material is so skimpy that I would probably feel a 5 year old blowing at me. I have been an avid, avid Patagonia customer but I am going to rethink my purchases if the company is going to make such shoddy products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable! I bought this about a month ago and I absolutely love it! It's form fitting, has longer sleeves and a longer torso to the jacket as well, that I love. If I could buy all the colors I would!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cozy and Cute! This has been my go-to piece for fall in the Rockies. The warmth to weight ratio is great, and I love the fitted/feminine fit. I have worn in almost every day since I bought it! I'm 5'5 127 lbs and the small fits great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for. I wanted a layer that would work in the mountains and woods and look good at work. This fit the bill.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring Back the Old Version I purchased a second R2 after falling in love with my first one. Unfortunately, this one does not compare. My old one has thumb loops (missing in this version and essential for seamless ski jacket layering), elastic on the bottom (the new version looks sloppier), and, most importantly, my old version had a sewn and reinforced collar. On the new version, the collar flops down and folds in on itself, very unattractive and frustrating (its so bad, you can see it doing it on the model photos). Please, Patagonia, bring back my favorite fleece!
