We stand behind everything we make, including our wetsuits. But wetsuits require care if they are going to perform and wear the way they were intended. Patagonia is not responsible for wetsuits that are abused or show normal wear and tear over time. Scratches and fading are inevitable, as are tears from the occasional close call with a fin. Our neoprene-free Yulex® wetsuits are made of 85% natural rubber/15% synthetic rubber by polymer content. Replacing a petroleum-based material with a plant-based one, they offer the same warmth and performance attributes as conventional stretch neoprene while reducing CO2 emissions by up to ~80% in the manufacturing process. Derived from sources that are Forest Stewardship Council® certified by the Rainforest Alliance, we blend the natural rubber with chlorine-free synthetic rubber to increase ozone- and UV-resistance and meet our rigorous standards for strength, stretch and durability. With an anatomical, motion-focused design that maximizes comfort and flexibility while minimizing weight, the R4® Yulex Front-Zip Hooded Full Suit is 5.5mm in the torso and thighs, 4mm in the arms and lower legs, and 3.5mm in the hood. The torso, legs and hood are lined with high-stretch, fast-drying 51% recycled polyester/44% polyester/5% spandex inverted microgrid; the arms are lined with high-stretch, fast-drying 100% recycled polyester jersey; the face fabric is 85% recycled polyester/15% spandex. The floating front-zip features a corrosion-proof zipper and asymmetrical flap for better seal; the Salmi® zipper is fully replaceable to extend the suit’s lifespan. Supratex kneepads and ankle cuffs provide excellent abrasion resistance and increased durability. 100% external seam sealing; all seams are triple glued and internally taped. Adjustable hood opening has cord lock for custom fit. Easy-access key loop included. Suggested water temperatures: 38–48° F/3–9° C.

Women's R4 Yulex Fz Hooded Full Suit is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warm, but very tight I bought this suit as I wanted the warmest suit with a built in hood for the cold waters of Tofino, BC. It lives up to its warmth promise, but I had to have 2 different guys help me get into and out of the hood, and the first shoulder out of the small opening of the front-zip so I could get out of it. I even went a size up!! (I'm a 0 or 2 in Patagonia everything and bought a size 4 as I heard the suits run small). The Yulex fabric does not stretch like Neoprene, which is probably why it's good with keeping water out of the ends. Unfortunately this suit is not offered with a back-zip (I ended up exchanging it with an R3 backzip, which is just as warm and easier to get in/out, though I have not used it in winter surfing water - as the AMAZING Customer Care associates made an exception!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great. I took the R4 to British Colombia and did some shallow water freediving and it worked great. I took the advice from the other reviews and got a size up. They are tight but wetsuits are suppose to be a little tight. The water was 46 degrees and I didn't feel the slightest chill. I spent about 40 minutes in the water too. I really loved it and I'm prettt happy with it. My only word of advice would be to have someone there to help you out of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So disappointed I own the R1 in an 8T that I bought two years ago and it is the most comfy perfect fitting suit. I wanted a suit with the hood attached as anyone knows cold water knows it makes a difference. Well, they do not offer anything under the R4 with hood attached (of course the men have all the options). They do not have the tall now, but I still bought the size 8....way too small. Ordered the size 10. Still a little small and way too short but the people I spoke with at Patagonia said it would form fit. I know an R4 would be thick but this may be the most uncomfortable wetsuit. I tried to surf in it three times. It is very very warm which I loved but I could not surf in it due to its stiffness. Maybe a good diving suit. I miss the tall option and wish Patagonia offered women the same variety as men as I would like to support ecofriendly wetsuits.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from fit problems I usually wear a Patagonia 2, so I ordered a 4 in this suit. Way too small, and particularly short, nearly impossible to put on/take off. I'm 5'6" at 125 pounds. Now looking at the size chart, maybe should've ordered a 6, but a Patagonia 6 is usually huge on me. Didn't wear it in the water. Seemed like it would be toasty yet a bit inflexible. Where are the Women's Hooded R3 wetsuits? Where are the Tall Women's wetsuit sizes? Where are the Women's rash guards with board shorts connectors and thumb loops? Men have all these options.
