bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beautiful color I ordered these for a waterproof snowshoeing pant but although they stretch they were too tight in the thighs so I returned them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from versatile and comfortable I bought these for use as snow pants. While they are not insulated to be warm enough on their own, they are versatile as warmth can easily be added with a solid base layer. I wore them for some ocean kayaking (in RI) on a mild day this week, without a base layer and they were great to break the wind and keep me dry. The week before I wore them on a 5 hour snow shoe excursion and they were equally awesome. I'm 5'6", 130lbs and size 6 was great- the adjustment with the button and pull tab at waist was key to make them a little less baggy and more secure. Love the blue color!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but Nice but do not have athletic fit, small thigh, and do not fit over downhill ski boots !!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from maybe I ordered the wrong size.... I purchased these in a size larger than what I normally wear in Patagonia hoping to be able to wear a base layer under them for hiking/shoveling/walking the dog in the snow. The size larger were tight in the legs and butt, and gaped about 3-4" out in the waist. I ended up sending them back. I am thinking now of ordering the size I would normally take because I really wanted to love these pants, but I am afraid they will be way too small in the thighs and butt. I have been searching for a soft shell pant that I can layer, and I am having a horrible time finding what I need! The construction and design was nice- just what you would expect from a Patagonia product, just the sizing was so far off for me. I normally wear an 8 or medium in Patagonia pants. I ordered these in a 10. I also thought the rise was way too high. If I pulled them down to where I liked them to sit, right around my upper hip area, then I had so much fabric in the crotch area I could not walk properly. Hoping the size 8 will fit without being too tight, and will stretch and be comfortable. I will update if they work! :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable and excellent fit I had originally set out to buy the sidesend pants for hiking, climbing etc. Unfortunately Patagonia was sold out of the womens long in a size 6. These were recommended to me in store and I liked what I tried. At first they felt a little too tight in the rear and inner thighs, but they loosed up after wiggling around/wearing them and now they fit perfect! I have worn these with a mid-weight merino wool base layer skiing and hiking in the Wasatch. I was comfortable with that setup and the temps were between 10-20 degrees. I have since taken them climbing in the gym and Joshua tree. The higher rise fits well under a harness and the gusseted crotch makes high steps a breeze. I like that there is a cord at the bottom of the pant leg allowing you to tighten the opening around a boot or keep it out the way of your climbing shoes. So far these pants seem like they can do it all for 3 season adventures. The only cons I have are that they do not come in a longer length, which would be nice for me at 6'1". With boots the length is just barely long enough to keep my legs covered. The internal adjustable 'belt' that is controlled by the top button of the pants is a cool idea, but doesn't work the best in practice. After climbing or skiing for a while it loosens up. This isn't much of a problem for me because the pants fit quite well at the mid rise, but I could see this being a problem for someone with a different shape. I weight 155 and have a lean/athletic build that is more bottom heavy. I wear a 28/6 in all of my Patagonia pants and these were no exception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hiking pants ever My husband bought me these in black last summer...a little spendy but they are so worth it. They fit perfectly and the thigh pocket is just right for zipping in my phone. Recently bought the bright blue version of these: love having the pop of color rather than wesring black pants all the time. They are terrific, too. Have skied and snowshoed and hiked and climbed in both pairs and they hold up. Nice work, Patagonia! Only have two suggestions: please make a variety of fun colors (eggplant/maroon, green, orange, hot pink?) and add a tall length (I'm 5'11" and they could be slightly longer...their length is OK when worn with hiking/winter boots but a bit short with other footwear.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pants I LOVE LOVE LOVE these pants. They are awesome. I have taken them to the snow 40' weather, they kept me warm and dry. I wore them hiking, jeeping, and now i need more pairs to rotate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very dependable and comfortable! I bought the black pair for our 2 week trip to the north and south islands of New Zealand. We camped most of our stay and did a lot of excursions and a few hikes. Although it was spring, there were different weather patterns, including lots of rain. This pair made it easy to wear and wash and it would be dry within a couple of hours of hanging. Since NZ is very casual, I could even get away with wearing these pants out to dinner at a decent restaurant. Worth it!
