Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The grip helps! I picked these off the rack, not realizing they had the nanogrip inside. I was skeptical, but they really help to keep everything in place. Especially since the back is cut a little smaller than my other Patagonia swim bottoms...and I have a much larger butt than the model in the photos! I use these for swimming and surfing, so I'm glad I got the nanogrip.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Little backside coverage I'm 5'5, 120 lbs and the small fit me great, but I had to up-size to a medium to get a little more coverage on my butt. I just made the exchange - not sure if this will work or not. I hope Patagonia will update this swimsuit next year with a little more coverage on the backside!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Athletic butts be bare Tried an XS and it did not cover my crack. I usually wear an XS. Exchanged for a S, and still too short. Wish the seat covered more from Crotch to crack. If you have an athletic butt, size up and it still may not cover you. I'd add a picture but It wouldn't be family friendly. Hope Pati redesigns these for next year. Love the fabric and the tie sides. "Butt" this year , I'll be sending it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Order a size up, but great bottoms I ordered this suit for a recent trip to Mexico, hoping it would stay on better for swimming and body surfing. It was great for normal swimming and snorkeling activities, I could tell the difference of it staying on, but definitely was no match when body surfing, even when tightened down. Good thing I have a pair of board shorts for that.... I am an all-around size medium (5'10", 145, muscular skier legs) and had to swap up for a large, just so that the material covered my crack. Might have been because of my long legs, but the size medium provided less than minimal coverage. Super cute suit though, and a size large fit perfectly when tightened down. I guess the only downside with ordering up a size for a little more material is that I almost have the side ties completely cinched down, so no more real estate there to tighten down.
