The Torrentshells do exactly what pared-down rainwear should: They keep you dry through steady showers or thunderboomers—and they do it with breathability and zero excess. These H2No® Performance Standard rain pants are made from 2.5-layer nylon ripstop (now 100% recycled) with a waterproof/breathable barrier and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. They feature a simple pull-on style with an elastic drawcord waistband, articulated knees and water-resistant side zips that extend from cuff to thigh for easy pull-on over boots, while doubling as vents. With two zippered pockets (the pants stuff into the left pocket, with carabiner clip-in loop) and partly elasticized cuffs that adjust with a snap-tab closure.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Weatherproof

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use for biking and coaching I use these to commute to work in the rain, and they definitely keep everything dry. There is not vent so it can get a little warm when biking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from COMFORT/ATTRACTIVE During the recent frigid weather in NYC, along with wet snow, these pants were a blessing - not stiff, easy to put on and kept me cozy during the dreaded talk walk - even pockets for plastic bag for picking up (word I am not allowed to say on your website)! Now traveling to Chilean Patagonia to give them a real test.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and light I'm 5'4" and XS fits well over leggings. Wore it on a rainy day and snow and kept me dry. FYI...this is a shell only. Not insulated!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice fit I bought these because my current wind/rain pants are way too thick and take up way too much room in a backpack. I"m 110 and 5'4". The small fits perfectly and can be easily stuffed into a backpack, taking up little room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Monsoon-worthy! I wore my Torrentshell pants every day this past week as San Francisco was engulfed in a typhoon, My Husky "Wolfie" loves this weather and reveled in his twice daily walks. I remained completely dry and warm, thanks to my Patagonia Torrentshell pants and rain slicker

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cut, reliability, functionality I am so thrilled that I got these to replace my cheap-o Frogg Toggs. I was concerned that the slim cut wouldn't clear my fleece pants base layer but the articulated knees, stretch waist, and zippered cut make them easy to put on in a flash. I used to wallow around, drag excess leg length in the mud, and felt generally slowed down by my rain paints. Now I have increased stride length, efficiency and comfort. I also appreciate the thoughtful details that allow me to get these on and off very quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and easy protection I have worn the torrentshell pants for years, and only this year needed to buy a new pair. Easy for travel, boating, fishing, hiking, this is a no-brainer!
