Fair Trade Certified™

We pay a premium for every Fair Trade Certified item that carries our label. That extra money goes directly to the workers at the factory, and they decide how to spend it. The program also promotes worker health and safety and social and environmental compliance, and encourages dialog between workers and management. Fair Trade is one of the first tools we’re using at Patagonia to raise workers’ wages, improve their standard of living and move them closer to earning a living wage.

Organic Cotton

In 1996, with an increased awareness of the dangers of pesticide use and synthetic fertilizers in growing conventional cotton, we began the exclusive use of organically grown cotton in all of our cotton products.

The quality of organic cotton is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton, yet organically grown methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water. Growing organically takes more time, requires more knowledge and skill, and, for now, costs more. But it’s worth it.

To ensure we are buying cotton that is organic as defined by the USDA’s National Organic Program, we require numerous certificates issued by an accredited third-party certification body for every step of the supply chain, from farm to factories.

Women's Waffle P/O is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not perfect This is somewhat flattering but material is slightly itchy and the green color comes out when you wash it. I've tried to wash it twice and color still coming out. Fortunately, I didn't put it in with other clothes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Northern MN Go-to Summer Layer! Like this top! Breathes, but also has some loft, so I use it as a warmer layer when we're having chillier summer days. I started with the medium and had to exchange for a small. The fit in the torso is a little boxy, but the style doesn't suffer for it. I echo the recommendation to size down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT shirt! This shirt is great. So comfortable, looks good, not too hot or too cool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A solid purchase I bought two of these on sale and am happy with the purchase. The fabric is soft and the fit is great- the neck doesn't scoop too low and the sleeves hit right where they should. The colors are true to the web site and they machine wash and dry easily. Labeling indicated that the shirts were 'fair trade sewed' (or something like that), which is s bonus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from wide body, tight sleeves It doesn't look boxy in the pictures, but it is. I am between a M and L in Pata, size 10/12 everywhere else. It's rare I size down, but the L in this was ginormous. In the M the sleeves are tight, but the body is more normal. The waffle is substantial and didn't shrink.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from big in the body I am hopelessly in between sizes in Pata clothes so I never know whether to order a M or L. If they would offer the garment measurements on the website (hint, hint), it would really help so I don't have to chat for them every time, or pay for returns every time... anyway this top is pretty boxy through the body and more fitted in the sleeves so order down in you're not sure. The L I got was pretty huge. The fabric was thicker than I expected and stiff too, but would probably soften with wash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So warm! I bought two of these shirts hesitantly about a month ago. I have typically found waffle knits to be heavy and a little scratchy. I was so surprised the first time I wore them--they are not only soft and very comfortable, but nicely warm as well. They are now my go-to shirts on chilly mornings when I head off to teach my first yoga class of the day! Really awesome fabric, Patagonia!
