Frequently Asked Questions
We’re happy to look at any Patagonia item that needs repair to see if the damage is something we can fix. We don’t charge for most repairs, but more technical items (think wetsuits, waders, etc.) may be subject to a repair fee. Please make sure your item is clean before dropping it off at a store or mailing it to us or the item will be returned to you to wash.
There are a few ways to get your item repaired:
- You can permanently fix small holes or tears with gear repair tape, which you can find at most outdoor retailers.
- Visit a Patagonia-owned store, where our knowledgeable staff can perform minor fixes on-site, guide you through a self-repair or send your item to our repair facility. Please call stores in advance to verify that they are open and can accept your repair.
- If you don’t live near a store, we encourage you to check out our DIY Repair Tutorials to see if self-repair is an option.
- If all else fails, you can always mail your repair to one of our Canadian store locations.
If you choose to send in your repair for an evaluation, we ask that you cover the shipping cost. The repair work (in most cases) and the return shipping are covered by Patagonia.
We strive to bring your item back to like-new condition using similar fabric and hardware. If we do not have the original materials available, the integrity of the garment becomes our top priority. The color of the fabric used for the repair may not be an exact match, but we’ll do our best to find the closest match possible.

Our stores in Toronto and Vancouver are happy to accept your repair. Our knowledgeable staff can perform simple repairs on-site or guide you through a self-repair. More complex repairs may be sent to our team in the United States. Please call the store in advance to verify that they can accept your repair.
If you choose to mail your repair to a store, please print and complete the Repair Form and include it in the package.
Wetsuit and wader repairs require extra care and skill, so we handle them a little differently.
To get started on your wetsuit repair, please follow the instructions on our Wetsuit Repair and Warranty Form. Shortly after receiving your wetsuit, our repair team will reach out to discuss the next steps with you, including repair turnaround time and any repair costs, if applicable.
If your waders need repair, you are welcome to send them in for evaluation. Damage due to normal wear and tear or accidents, such as the occasional run-in with thorns or barbed wire, may involve a repair fee.
If you choose to send in your repair for an evaluation, we ask that you cover the shipping cost. The repair work (in most cases) and the return shipping are covered by Patagonia. We do our best, but sometimes we can’t repair your gear. Be sure to indicate whether you would like a merchandise credit or to have your item returned if it’s not repairable.

Our goal is to repair everything we can, but each repair is different. Sometimes, repairs on well-worn garments are straightforward. Conversely, repairs on newer items that have seen a lot of damage can be extensive and deemed unrepairable. We do our best to check each garment with accuracy and consistency before making a determination.
If you have a small hole or tear, a patch of Tenacious Tape is usually all you need. Tenacious Tape is a fix that lasts and does not affect the warranty or our ability to make future repairs.
