Like a perfect pitch of climbing with just enough protection, our Adze Hybrid Jacket lets you move without hesitation. The front, back and top of the arms are protected against cold and wind with a Polartec® Windbloc® polyester/spandex stretch-woven fabric that’s lightly insulated with a comfortable, warm and wicking fleece grid backer. Meanwhile, low-bulk, unlined, stretchy double-weave soft-shell panels run up the sides, under the arms and down into the sleek, modified Variable Conditions Cuff, offering enhanced breathability and mobility. Zippers secure the two handwarmer pockets (placed above harness line) and the internal chest pocket. The no-bunch hem adjusts with a cord inside the handwarmer pockets. With a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.
Features
  • 3-layer, Polartec® Windbloc® stretch-woven polyester soft-shell fabric stops wind and resists precip with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, while a fleece grid backer insulates and wicks moisture
  • Stretchy, breathable, double-weave soft-shell fabric on side panels, underarms and cuffs has a DWR finish
  • Soft-shell fabric on inner collar and wind flap is durable and abrasion-resistant
  • High, harness- and pack-compatible handwarmer pockets and one interior chest pocket have brushed tricot lining
  • Modified Variable Conditions Cuffs fit over gloves and allow sleeves to push up easily without constricting forearms
  • Flat-cinch, no-bunch hem adjusts by pulling cord in handwarmer pockets and releases with cord locks at side hem

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Windproof

Polartec® Windbloc® fabrics block 100% of the wind and provides maximum protection from the elements. The soft hand, stretch, and DWR (durable water repellent) finish combine to make this the highest quality, most comfortable windproof fleece product on the market.

Polartec Windbloc fabrics incorporate a polyurethane barrier membrane that allows moisture vapor transmission while completely blocking wind and water, eliminating the need for an additional shell. This reduces the weight and number of layers needed to protect and insulate.

Polartec Windbloc is durable, quiet, and non-pilling, and has enhanced stretch and recovery, making it ideal for activities when movement is intermittent, and when cold and inclement weather demands high-performance outer protection.

Men's Adze Hybrid Jacket is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A warmer Adze for spring. The Adze has for years now been my choice for Nordic skiing and similar sports in winter. When the highs start creeping into the forties and fifties, this is a better choice. The lighter panels under the arms move out heat lots quicker. The lighter cuffs skip the bulk of ripstick closures and go under gloves easily, and although they could be easier to roll or push up when not needed, they don’t feel flimsy in coverage of the wrists. Heat retention during stops is quite good. After-exercise chill is minimal; it’s routine to be comfortable for hours after the tour. Although many might want a thinner piece to avoid overheating in fast forward, I find the ability to handle longer stops more important on hikes or tours on which varying paces and abilities, plus that ol’ demon Contemplation, dictate lingering or slowing down in cold and wind. And the heat dump will keep you happy if you adjust head-, neck- and hand wear. My only complaint, which I have found surf-able, is the zippers: both outer hand pockets and the main zipper require kid gloves and jam. A lot. Not enough of an issue for me to take significant points off, though. I quite like this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I LOVE IT! I love this Jacket. I have owned this jacket for going on 5 years and I have never been cold wearing it. This jacket feels good, I have tried on several hundred jackets trying to replace this one since it is starting to fall apart (after 5 years). I just don't think I will be able to find one that fits like this one, is as comfortable as this one, or keeps me as warm as this one. The only complaint I have about this jacket is the material on the sleeve has started to fray on both sides, and where the velcro attaches to the sleeve, it has started to destroy the material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Layering Piece I received this jacket as a gift and I couldn't be more pleased. I own quite a few Patagonia products and didn't have initial interest in the Adze Hybrid. However, this jacket is now easily my favorite layering piece. With temps below zero this week in Minneapolis, I wear it over a baselayer, under a down vest, with a shell over the top. This jacket has proven far better than a hoody or typical fleece because it's so sleek and slides under other layers nicely. I'll note that I typically wear a large in Patagonia and this jacket wears close to the body in a medium (one size down), which feels excellent. I would absolutely recommend this jacket to someone looking for a stretchy, breatheable alternative to the Synchilla products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad zipper Attractive jacket and great weight. My zipper also gets stuck in the transition from the collar. Sounds like this is a design flaw based on the reviews here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems Solid... ...but as noted by others the zipper seems to stick right at the collar-to-jacket transition point. It just does not flow smoothly. The fabric seems really good and durable. Hoping to get many years out of this as I do with all my other Patagonia products. I’ll plan to update on this one on 5-6 years....!!!! Got the XL for layering.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from cuffs need to be adjustable. Not as good as the older one I one and still wear. Make the garment better instead of removing good features.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great jacket, but... The hybrid material pills after regular wear (arm movement). Sleeves are about 1.5" longer than normal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Performance! I bought this jacket specifically for skiing in spring conditions. I recently wore it skiing in Mammoth Mountain in late May. Temps were in the high 30s F, with winds 10-30 mph. With a single thermal base layer, the jacket held up very well against the high winds on the chair lift. I'm about 6' 5" and 225 lbs. I'm in between a Patagonia L and XL, but went with a XL to accommodate various base layer options.
