Yes, we built the Tropic Comfort Crew II for the tropics, hence the name. But hot weather at any latitude requires a shirt that blocks the sun and helps you keep your cool through long days of fishing. It’s now made from fast-drying, ultralight Capilene® Cool Daily fabric—prints are 100% recycled polyester, heathers are 100% polyester (50% recycled)—the same material as our Capilene Cool Daily styles—that stretches with your body, provides 50+ UPF sun protection, wicks away perspiration and keeps things fresh with Polygiene® permanent odor control. A relaxed fit with gussets under the arms makes the design remarkably motion-friendly, and longer sleeves with thumb holes provide additional sun protection for the backs of the hands. A favorite of diehard anglers, the Tropic Comfort makes you feel good another way, too—it’s made in a Fair Trade Certified™ facility.
Features
  • Comfortable, ultralight jersey offers the best in sun protection and is ideal for any outdoor activity; same fabric as the Capilene® Cool Daily styles
  • Classic, relaxed tee silhouette with gussets under arms; won’t ride up in back while casting
  • Thumb holes for added sun protection for the backs of the hands
  • Fair Trade Certified™ sewn
  • 210 g (7.4 oz)

Odor Resistant

Polygiene® odor control permanently protects your garments from smelling like a middle school locker room. Sweat itself is odorless, but it creates the conditions that bacteria need to multiply, and some of those bacteria produce odors. Polygiene permanent odor control stops the growth of odor-causing bacteria on fabrics, so you can wear more and wash less.

Active only on the fabric surface, Polygiene permanent odor control does not interfere with perspiration or with the skin’s natural bacterial flora. Polygiene particles are more than 100 times larger than nanoparticles and therefore are too large to penetrate to the skin’s barrier. Polygiene-treated fabrics have received Medical Class 1 approval in Europe, the same class that includes bandages.

UPF Fabric

Lacking fur, feathers or scales, we humans have to think up clever ways to protect ourselves from the sun. Products with the UPF designation provide built-in sun protection that won’t wear off.

To achieve sun protection, Patagonia takes a varied approach, depending on the degree of protection desired and the fabric used. Elements of the strategy can range from yarn selection to fabric construction to the use of special finishes (especially for light colors which generally provide less protection).
