If we have any hope of a thriving planet—much less a business—it is going to take all of us doing what we can with the resources we have. This is what we can do.
I had purchased a jacket in January for a trip to Boston in late February. Im a SoCal native so warmth was important! This parka exceeded all my expectations. Comfortable, great weight, stylish and warm without being hot.
Bought one for myself and one for my husband. Love the warmth and design.
Like the double zipper as it makes it easy to sit and walk more comfortably.
Only suggesting that the zippers could be made easier to zip. Could the zippers be larger and beefier? It is somewhat difficult to feed the double zipper into the track with cold fingers .
This parka fits really well and is quite warm, even in cold temperatures. The length is ideal as your whole lower back is covered even when bending over to lift stuff. My only gripe would be that the front pockets a vertical. I would have liked to have slits on the sides for the pockets so you can put your hands in. Not a big deal but just more com... I have tested this jacket from 15-40 F. This jacket is perfect to wear with a t-shirt in 40 degrees, but any colder and you need to layer under it. If you live somewhere with mild winters this is a great coat, it's pretty stylish, very well made, the quality feels fantastic. The length is also great for me 5'9. I guess I need to just get ... Needed a warmer coat for Iowa winters and this is doing the job. Good length for the parka. Love the moderate weight of the coat and how well it blocks wind.
love this coat so much i got two colors. down fill is perfect for mn winter even below zero, with adequate layers beneath of course. the sherpa collar and hood is so cozy and warm that i don't need a scarf when wearing it. length is perfect for covering mid section. overall a great looking coat for work and light activities
Fits perfectly, love the double zippers when sitting in a car or just need more ventilation, love the hood lined with the soft, fluffy material keeps your whole face cocooned in warmth!
I got two of these back to back and within the first few days of wearing each the zipper at the bottom burst its seam under just a little tension. It's a serious design flaw that doesnt take much wear to break. Ive had other parkas that dont have zippers that rip off. Instead, the bottom zipper should run up, unzipping the jacket when theres t... Read Morehat much tension. This jackets zipper stays closed and puts all the tension on where the zipper is sewn to the fabric. Oh well, everything else about this jacket is amazing and I wanted to keep it, but Im not skilled enough at sewing to maintain the zipper. So, 5 stars for everything but the zipper.

Best and only parka for cold weather
This is a dedicated winter parka for colder temps. I was able to remain super warm in the low 30s while on a long walk with the dog. I imagine this parka is engineered for much colder weather. I searched for a thigh length parka with insulation and the downdrift parka seemed to be the best option on the winter sale discount! I love the length, pock... Read Moreets, fit, and insulation mirrors higher end coats of this category. I'm 6 ft 2 inches, 185 lbs. slender build and a true to size medium was a perfect fit. The drop in pockets are lined and really I don't miss side pockets as they are above and also lined. So warm! The chest pocket is small but nice to have if needed and I typically forget about internal pockets anyway, so it would be great if both zippered pockets were on the outside. I tend to pack out the drop in pockets as they are roomy and the best feature. The hood is really warm and feels over built. I tried other parkas, but Patagonia has the best fit, I have had more than a couple jackets from the brand and sizing is the true standard of approval. This is my first winter parka, but it's more than enough for the PNW winter days. I would say the length of the sleeve could use a inner ribbed cuff as the button closure is a bit too tight. Overall, it's an amazing parka that will last forever and keep you warm with any layer! Highly recommended if you need a warm thigh length parka.
I am 5 foot 10 209lbs. The large is a great fit. I wear it to and from work and to hike with my dog. Great for temps between 10 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Im in central Iowa where temps can fluctuate greatly and also have a heavy duty fjallraven sings down which is too warm for here but great when I head to northern Minnesota in the winter. Havent d... Wind protection is very good. Super comfy, hope to never buy a coat again.
I ordered this online & got the parka yesterday afternoon. Today I excitedly wear it for the 1st time. But not even 10 mins in when I knelt down to tie my shoe laces, I heard a single popping sound. Very warm and has a good fit.
I recently purchased a parka jacket with down feather insulation, and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. The warmth and comfort this jacket provides are outstanding, making it the perfect choice for those chilly winter days.
The quality of the materials used in the construction of this parka jacket is excellent. The down feathers in... Read Moreside the jacket are evenly distributed, ensuring that there are no cold spots and providing excellent insulation.
The parka is also designed with functionality in mind. It features multiple pockets, including two handwarmer pockets and a large interior pocket that is perfect for storing valuables.
Another thing that impressed me about this parka jacket is its versatility. It's suitable for a wide range of outdoor activities, from hiking and camping to simply running errands around town.
Overall, I highly recommend this parka jacket with down feather insulation. It's warm, comfortable, and stylish, making it the perfect choice for anyone looking for a reliable and high-quality jacket for the winter season.
Fits well and looks really good. Good length on me and it filled an outerwear gap I had. Double zipper is key as are the hand warmers. The fleece is perhaps a little absorbent for cold AND wet, but this coat served me well in a surprise Portland snow storm last night and was plenty in the low 20's with a t-shirt and merino mid-layer.
I can wear this jacket with just a shirt on and be comfortably warm up until around 10 degrees and windy. It would be even better if the fleece was throughout the whole jacket.
I recently moved to Boston in winter and needed my first good winter coat. I researched many other kinds but found this one had the right fit of style and warmth and seemed to be able to keep me warm in any temperatures. Great for walking a dog, that strolls around in the cold windy days
I always purchase size M from Patty for 20 plus years, no problems with size, even with sweaters, shirts.... Now I replaced my old jackets with new, I find the the arms are an inch too short, the shoulders are tight. I tried a L size and was just too big for a <6ft, <180lb guy?

absolutely love this parka. the sherpa lining adds comfort, warmth, and style. fairly light for so much coat. love that patagonia offers sizes in many categories to shorter & lighter men, unlike competing brands
This is an excellent, well fitting piece of outerwear clothing; the hood fits perfectly over my head imo. But if I had to nitpick, it could have used some open pockets on the inside and a split seam along the bottom to make it a bit more comfortable for when you have to bend down or sit. Overall, this parka is super warm and comfortable to wear. I tried a Small, but it was too tight around my chest and shoulders. Kudos to Patagonia and the expert design team!
Over all I like the parka. It is light weight yet warm. I like the fuzzy lining in the hood except that I would not extend it beyond the the front edge of the hood. It currently wraps around the the hood edge so that it is exposed to the elements. Other than that I am very pleased.
I love the cut of the jacket. Its nice to have a mid-thigh jacket for walking the dog in the cold. Its also very light weight. The fuzzy hood and hand pockets are awesome me. Some of the fuzz in the pockets is coming off, but I think its just temporary shedding.
I was looking parka that protects from cold, rainy and windy weather, I finally got it. It is warm and comfortable. Its stylish and looks nicer. It was proved perfect parka in single digits temperature and windy days. I loved pockets and hood. I feel grateful to support the mission of Patagonia to save Earth and Environment.
I needed a highly functional and versatile jacket for travel to Chicago for work during the winter. Really like this jacket, especially the hood - this is an important marker of quality -bad hood == bad attention to detail. I don't like the zipper pulls - they are small and finicky and very hard to use in cold weather - thinks numb fingers or bulky gloves.
I'm a lifelong Floridian who traveled to NY on the coldest weekend of the year (so far). I got this parka to keep me warm and was very surprised at how well it worked. This parka is very warm. I only wear a t-shirt underneath and it's incredibly warm. I wear it to walk my dog early in the morning and at night. I wish it had hood drawstrings to tighten the front of the hood but it's so warm I haven't had the need to do so.
Jury still out on whether it's warm enough for Canadian winter.
I just purchased this jacket on sale, my second purchase in as many years after returning a Tres-in-1 last year because the S wasn't big enough for me and because I didn't really want a two-piece in the end. I live in Montreal, and while it's not getting as cold as it used to on a regular basis (a different problem..), we still see temperatures well below 0 F on occasion. I have to say it's been an ongoing challenge deciphering the warmest Patagonia jackets online. I know the company doesn't do temperature ratings, and I've seen mention of a new 'warmth index' but can't seem to find it actually listed anywhere. And I know that a lot of factors weigh into how warm I'll feel in the winter, especially layering, etc. The fact is, I wanted a single-piece jacket that looks sharp that I can reliably throw on on top of a couple modest layers more days than not when it's pretty cold here in the winter. The jacket is holding up so far, but I just doesn't feel *that* insulated, and I worry I'll still have to rely on a heavier, 20 year old jacket by a competitor that I've been meaning to put to pasture (after one good repair) for a few years now. I'm also at a loss for an alternative in the Patagonia catalog, where I would very much like to stay.
I been torn between Fjallraven and North Face and along with Patagonia parka is his winter. Ultimately went with Patagonia downdraft parka and I am happy with my decision. I did buy the jacket during 40% off timeframe so pricing and functionality standpoint, it is a perfect parka for me.

Read Moreguide and it was accurate. I went with a large based on the guide and I'm glad I did. I usually wear my clothes loose fitting and the coat is a little more form fitting than I'm used to but it is not binding. The sherpa lining is great and actually extends down below your shoulders a few inches. I would like to find a similar coat that has the sherpa throughout because I like the cozy warm feeling it gives. The coat hits me mid thigh, right where I like it. The sleeves stop an inch below the bend in my wrist. The sleeves are tighter than I like but they are not binding. The cuff is small. It is almost too small to get my dress gloves inside and too big for my gloves to go over. They have a snap that allows you to make them quite snug and they seal up well that way. With my winter gloves over the top I got not drafts up my sleeves. I usually get an XL to get more room but then the neck is always made for the neck of an NFL lineman and it is way too drafty. The neck on the Large was perfect. The coat zips up snug around the neck and is tight against my chin. I love the hood but drawstrings would have made it perfect. The buttons are all crisp and hold well. The zipper works smoothly but the paddle is way too small to operate with winter gloves on. The pockets are nicely sized and located. I especially like the sherpa lined hand gloves. I went to the dog fields today to try it out. It is currently -5 F, 10mph winds out of the NE, sunny and windchill is -18F. I had a hooded sweatshirt on under it cause I always wear one. With a stocking cap and gloves I headed for the field. Initially I felt a little cool, comparable to being in a short sleeve shirt in the house set at 70. That's doable. I had the coat zipped up tight, wind to my back and sun in my face. My arms feel a little cooler than my core but it was tolerable. 10 minutes into the walk I had to unzip the coat about 10 inches because I began to overheat. On the return trip and facing the wind I left the zipper down for most of the walk. Eventually I zipped it back to the top and I remained very comfortable. The coat blocks the wind well, even along the zipper and flap. I felt no drafts going down my neck or up my backside from the bottom. My first outing went well. Admittedly, I was very active. I don't know yet how it will work for just milling around and standing around outside but I am optimistic. Overall I am very pleased. It is much more comfortable, fits better and is warmer than the $500 Northface coat I tried earlier this winter and I got it on sale for half the price of the NF coat. I am glad I bought it. I would recommend it to a friend and I think you will like it also.
Love the light weight and lined pockets. Keeps me very warm. Hood and zipper helps regulate heat in less sever cold (missed the December cold front). The waterproofing proved effective even for longer walks.
Fit is perfect and the material feel is awesome. Gets very warm and stays warm outside. Only complaint is that I would love if it had sleeve inserts instead of the button clip to tighten the sleeves at the wrist.
Pategonia delivering per usual. Im 6ft tall, athletic build/bigger shoulders. I got the jacket in blue and its not only super warm but also sleek! Expensive but you pay for what you get
This parka is incredible! This winter, I've been in the hunt for the perfect winter parka and I've absolutely found it in the Downdrift. I really liked the way it fit when I first put it on. It is not too heavy or too bulky, has a nice texture at touch and had plenty pockets (the 2 chest pockets are insulated). Great hoodie coverage. I think overall it is very stylish.
I love this coat. The medium is a perfect fit for me (6ft, 175 lbs). Slim and stylish, yet not too tight.
