Currently on my third pair. I'm a marathon runner who trains year-round. 5'3", 125lbs with muscular legs. I adore these shorts. These are by far the best running shorts I've ever purchased. The material is light weight, breathable, and soft. I have done short and long runs in these, hot and cold environments. They continue to be my go to shorts! If I could give more than five stars I would!
I exercise everyday by walking a long distance. I got the black shorts. They are very LIGHT and COOL. After washing the shorts in cold water, I laid them to dry. Tried these shorts for the first time this year and am in love! My thick thighs dont work well with the baggies (even though they are adorable!) and these were exactly what I was looking for! Love the waistband and pockets in the back!
I exercise a lot and needed a pair of shorts for HOT Oklahoma Summer. I wear this pair of shorts for walking. These shorts are very LIGHT and COOL. I have other shorts of different brands but this pair of shorts from Patagonia is the best. I recommend others to buy this pair of shorts. Thank you patagonia.com and the excellent customer service.
Love these shorts so much for hot Texas weather. I spend a lot of time outdoors and these shorts are perfect. Dry quickly, fit well (loose on me but thats how I like them - 58 about 150lbs), and the pocket in the back fits small essentials like keys and chapstick. I have three pairs already and cant wait for more colors!
I'm 5'7 and 135lbs and I normally order a size small in shorts/pants. I got a medium in these and I'm glad I did. These are my favorite running shorts! I used to only wear lululemon shorts (comparable size 2 lululemon to xxs patagonia) and then I got these shorts and they are now my favorite and have been wearing them for 6 months. Very comfortable and attractive. Wide waist band keeps them in place. Short length is flattering and allows free movement during physical activity. Fitted around waist and upper hips and loose fit at bottom. I'm 5'3 and 122 lbs (usually size 2-4) with slightly wider hips and curvy bottom and XS was way too tight. Small is perfect.
These are the shorts I reach for first- in a drawer filled with many others. Why? They are light, dry fast, and never cling, chafe or ride up. I am in-between a size small and medium, and went for the medium- they are ever so slightly large which is perfect and comfortable. Good waistband, nice styling and all around great running short. My go to shorts. I have them in three different colors. Im 123 lbs. I have a bubble butt so some of Patagonias stuff doesnt always fit me back there. The fit on these is perfect and they look adorable. Also perfect for days when Im in and out of the water, they dry very quickly.
I love these shorts - this is the 4th color/pair that Ive purchased. Theyre probably the most comfortable shorts I own & I reach for them a lot. Not too short & I appreciate the liner. Easy to run in. I love the hidden pocket in the waitlist for beach runs.
These are my second Strider shorts, they're that great. I love the way they fit and the way they're cut athletic and still flattering. Mostly used while rafting on multi-day trips.
I have never found a pair of running shorts that are both comfy and cute...until now! I am in love with these shorts. The fabric is so light you barely feel them. They fit perfectly and look great! I'm ordering another pair now.
Just what I wanted. Fabric is perfect. Not clingy at all. The small pocket is just right for keys and gels. and a loop too to attach my key! Want another pair!
Love the feel and fit of these shorts for running and I wear them all the time (though I might get an XS next time). My only complaint is the pocket system, which is a little sketchy. The best running shorts I've ever had. Very happy with my purchase! These are the most comfortable shorts I own, and I wear them every week. Extremely soft and fits perfectly. I'm 5' 5'' and 125 pounds.
I have worn many items from Patagonia, and I feel these were the worst. If you have any butt at all, they will not fit. I even ordered a size up and they were so small and rather uncomfortable. I find that your clothes are increasingly being made for those without any shape.
Hi Beth, thank you so much for your review. We're so sorry the fit didn't work out. In the future we're always happy to provide the exact garment measurements so you can feel confident in your purchase.

Perfect fit shorts
Love love love these shorts. Comfy, lightweight, and dont ride up! I like mine a little loose so I got a large instead of a medium and glad I did.
I have these shorts in 4 colours, would buy more if available! I wear them bike riding and hiking, and they keep me cool and comfortable. Shortest shorts I have ever owned, but still flattering. I LOVE these running shorts. They are super lightweight and comfortable. My only critique is that the liner in the shorts fits like bikini underwear and is kind of tight for me so it rides up a bit when I run. These shorts have a fantastic waistband (the best I've tried from Patagonia, and I've tried them all), great material, nice length, great fit. Very comfy. The only (huge) drawback is that the "pocket" is terrible (like all Patagonia's women's shorts). "Semi-secure"? Why would anyone want anything to be "... Read Moresemi-secure"? That just means it isn't secure. Huge design fail that I can't believe was passed - why would I put a phone or credit/ID card in an open unsecured pocket where they will just fall out? It's also too small for a phone and is awkwardly placed on the waistband and at the back. The older version apparently used to have side pockets that were secure and big enough to hold both a wallet and phone. These running shorts redesigned with two functional, side, secure (zippered!) pockets that are big enough to hold a phone would be perfect.
The shorts looked better on the model than in real life. They sat much lower on the hips than I expected and the slit also seemed more forward-facing in real life. These also have built-in underwear which wasnt apparent to me from the product description. However Patagonia returns are wonderful and I was able to exchange for another pair that I lov... I got the red shorts, and I really like the color contrast.
They have a lot of stretch which is nice.

I love these shorts for hiking in hot weather! I will most likely order another pair! I do miss the adjustable draw string and zipper pocket that the older version had. The older version fit much better. More adjustable. All in all, still happy with these shorts.
I don't think you understand, I hate shorts. I really hate short shorts. These, however, are incredible. They fit perfectly *everywhere.* They don't ride up. They don't fall down. The material is lush. I will be buying more without a doubt.
I often feel that Patagonia's bottoms don't usually fit women with bigger thighs that touch, or larger butts, or wider hips. However, I love the material, the color options, and what the brand stands for.
Thanks,

I love these shorts. My sizing is kind of weird though: I have a medium pair for running because they best stay in place when they are a bit snug. I also have a large for lounging and less strenuous activities where having them be loose is more comfortable.
Really like the waistband on these shorts. I bought these for running but I have larger than average thighs that are muscular. When I lift my leg or try to run in them they are a little tight and/or not stretchy enough for the motion.
I am 55 and 135-140lb (thicker in the middle) and the mediums fit well. The waistband is soft and forgiving but stay up well. I run 6-7 days per week, some trails, mostly roads. I mostly love these running shorts, with just a couple drawbacks. If these had a little more liner coverage and a zippered pocket they would be perfect. I did have to return and size up one size and customer service was great.
I own two pairs of these already, but I would definitely buy them in every color if I could! Perfect short for the gym or any other fitness activity. I specifically bought these shorts for a vacation to Texas in the summer. I wanted a lightweight, durable short that could dry easily if got wet from the water park or ocean. I love the lilac color! The small fit snugly on me and sat a little too low for what I needed the shorts for, which isn’t running so for running shorts they might be perfect. I am 5’9.5” and 130 pound and the small was snug enough that I could wear them as a swimsuit bottom in calm waters.
It can be hard for me to tell if I should get the XS or S in Patagonia's clothes. I went with XS and probably should've sized up to S. I love the pattern of these shorts, but there are a couple things to note.
1) The pocket on the older design had a zip closure. This one just has a waist tuck pocket, which makes it difficult to carry something heavier like a key without losing.

Really good quality, I like them a lot but I bought them to wear at home and I’m unlikely to wear them out of the house. I’m a little extra curvy on the bottom so these ride up on me when I walk around, but they're great great for home!
This shorts runs really small compared to the last model. Additionally, the fit is more like lululemon speed up short. Disappointing sizing
I have 3 pair of these shorts - love them for running. But all 3 are size smalls (purchased several months apart) and the latest pair (small) are tiny compared to the others. Unfortunately I live overseas and the return process is too arduous or I would send them back.
I like everything about them - waistband, length, colors - except for the limited pockets. There is only one and it’s envelope, not zippered. Otherwise, these are great!
This is my first pair of non-baggie/barely baggie shorts from Patagonia. I love the color of the lavender/grey short- and the length is what I expected.
