I have this same sports bra in the same size and its my favorite. I use it for running and CrossFit. I have worn my new purchase about three times and the stitching is already coming undone. This Patagonia sports bra is not my first. I own at least 5 different Patagonia bras. I have a small cup size but a large rib cage. That's why the Large fits me better. I like the Patagonia bras because they fit and they are comfortable. If you have a large chest, I would order a size up.
I wanted to try something a bit different than the typical job bra, as I am needing new ones, and haven't found one I like yet. This is a great one. It is soft, but supportive, stays in one place and nice looking. Was initially hesitant, but went for it and glad I did!
I only use this sports bra for low impact activities and casual wear. For someone my size (30DDD), it does not provide enough support for running or fast hiking.
I use this primarily for Pilates class - very comfortable in all postures. Especially appreciate the open back for efficient evaporation! Will wear sailing and hiking as the need arises. Also appreciate that i can slip under a dress - looks like a cami - and head back to work.
According to the size chart, I should definitely be an XS. Unfortunately the band was too tight around the ribs and restricted my breathing. I really wanted to love this, but it's just too tight. I would size up, but I feel like I'll have the same problem or it will be too large in the boobs.
I really like the material. The sweat seems to dry out better than other bras. It is also easy on and off. Pads are easily removed and inserted. It is comfortable, the best sports bra I have owned.
Comfort and support are fantastic & it is cute. Unfortunately, this sports bra does not hold up well compared to other brands, including those that are comfortable, supportive and much less expensive (though not as stylish). The stitching in the bottom band came undone quite easily, which caused the band to partially fall off, rendering the spo... Read Morerts bra unusable.

Extra comfortable
I wore it all day for hiking in the snow. It is extremely comfortable while providing support. Will recommend it a 100%
This is the best sports bra that I have found for running. I sweat a lot and until recently I lived in Hawaii which meant I was always hot when running.
I needed a bra that did not have a ton of material and did not come up super high in the front. This bra meets both of those needs.
I am a barely B cup, so I do not need a ton of material (simple... Read More, back cross straps for the win), but I still like that the bra is a compressive fit.
I have noticed that the bra is quite anti-stink for months and then one day it just is not anymore. But I just bought my 5th bra of this style, so obviously I still love it and just found that my bras wear out quicker due to the amount I wear them.
Would love to see more color options in this style:)
I am either a S or XS depending on design. Chose this one for walking and wanted a more relaxed fit so chose a S for this one. It's very comfortable, and I have the option to jog if needed.

Thanks for the feedback, Martha. At this time, we only have one bra that has adjustable straps, and it won't be quite as suitable for high output activities. Abrasive inner fabric
This sports bra is comfortable at first but starts to dig in to your shoulders after an hour or so. The inner fabric is mesh and bites your skin.
Hey Dana, thanks for the feedback. That sounds really uncomfortable, and that is the last thing we want when someone is wearing our gear! To begin a return please [click here](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html).
I can hardly tell um wearing it, pretty comfortable for my physical job, and running. Thanks for agreat product that I found, and I'm pretty sure I'll be purchasing more in the near future
Wore an older version of this bra every single on my 9 month trip around the world- hiking in Spain and Nepal, cycling through Southeast Asia and then rock climbing in New Zealand. It held up perfectly. Comfortable and supportive and attractive. Just bought a second. Pretty true to size. I am 5 ft 6 in, 130 lb, small b cup and small is good.
I'm a 34C and M is very snug and doesn't cover my breasts. Why a sports bra would have pads (which aren't mentioned in the description) is totally beyond me. Yes they are removable, but I think that to send women such things, especially as a surprise, is in poor taste.
Hey Oslo, thank you for the review. If you check on the product description for this bra, the padding is mentioned there. Nice support but a little snug
I am a 34B and according to the size chart I should order a size small. I feel I should've sized up on this for a little more comfort but, overall it provides great support while running, rowing, and hiking.

Too narrow for small frame with larger bust
I had high hopes this would work as a bra under a leotard. I loved the style. Excellent support
Full coverage, excellent support, I am planning to use it as a no fail swimsuit top!
Well constructed, flattering.
I ordered the medium and had to exchange for large in order to get comfortable full coverage. I wear 34D in a bra and prefer a full coverage exercise bra with no or minimal cleavage. Its a little tight but my other sports bras are REALLY old. So I may not be used to a properly fitting bra. Its still comfortable.
I've been looking for new sports bras, saw these and ordered 2. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because the fit is a bit odd - it seems there is a slight excess of material maybe because of the criss cross back or else the size. Great support, no spots that are too tight or too loose. The cross over in the back is cute and skillfully placed. It seems really sturdy like it will last for a long time.
Thank you Patagonia for making a sports bra that doesnt fit like a shirt. I am a A-B cup and its difficult to find a sports bra that doesnt come up to my throat and is flattering. I have been wear the Cross Beta Sports Bras for years now and been looking for something with wider straps, the Switchback is it!

This is the most flattering sports bra I have ever owned. A true bonus. The best features are that it is very comfortable, doesnt feel soggy after a long run (I wore it for my 1/2 marathon), and it supports like a dream. Very satisfied
I have had almost a dozen Patagonia sports bras and swim tops and I'm always a comfortable Small (34B-ish). comfortable band fit, straps tight on low neck
Initial try-on got me excited because the band fit was tolerable - which is the only reason for XL. So while I cant give it a great review, it seems a decent sports bra for most women, the best feature being ease of putting it on and taking it off.

Perfect balance
For me - 5'6", 135lb, 34B - this bra is the perfect balance of comfort and support. Love the open back for hot summer runs. Fits great under a fitted cycling jersey. (The tags tear out easily - I'm not sure why they were a complaint in another review).
I've tried most of the Patagonia bras and like the Switchback Sports bra the best for fit, performance and durability.

This fit well and looks beautiful but disappointed on the comfort. The band was a little scratchy, especially the tags. This is a great sport's bra! It is true to size when I bought it, perfect fit. It keeps my back from sweating during physical activity because of the switchback design. It has good support and does not fit to tight around my ribs so I can breathe well. I would suggest giving it a try!
I love this bra because it can be worn for yoga without a top over it or under a shirt. The material is nice and soft and the straps do not cut into my skin. I can wear it all day with great comfort!
For the longest time I struggled to find a sports bra I actually enjoyed wearing - enter Patagonia. I first bought the Wild Trails sports bra and discovered what secure boobs felt like. Anyways, highly recommend :)
The bra is pricey compared to the garbage you can get off Amazon but the cut and material are way superior. If you have a smaller chest, this would be great for any sport. But me and my Es are sticking to wearing it as an everyday comfort bra. Love it!
This bra provides the right level of support and mobility. I'm 100lbs and it's a perfect fit. Although, I always remove the pads as they are pretty odd shape ;) Love it.
I've worn Patagonia sports bras for well over a decade and have noticed a reduction in coverage with each new version. It's so hard for me to find a sports bra that is comfortable around the band, has the correct size cups and keeps everything in, but this one does it. Supportive Enough
Great sports bra for medium support. Would not recommend high intensity training in it though. Super comfortable and fits true to size.
I've always struggled to find a good sports bra that fits well and is comfortable for long hours and finally this one does it. It's also is very breathable on hot days, definitely will be ordering more. I originally ordered a small and had to exchange it for a medium because it was too tight around the band
I'm a 36-38B (broad shoulders) and normally fit a medium in Patagonia clothes, but this bra runs small and is too tight. I like the look, fabric, and support otherwise so I will return it and try a larger size.
Literally the perfect sports bra - the only problem I have is that I usually wear a small in all other Patagonia product and I have to buy a medium in these. I am a 32b so have a small chest. Otherwise this bra is perfect for road biking, running and yoga.
Just got my second of these and it is my favorite running bra. I am a 34C in regular bras and usually get mediums in sports bras/swim suit tops. This gives enough support for high intensity activity but doesn't squish you. It is the most comfortable bra I've found for running and will likely order more in the future!

This bra is quite comfortable, but it would be so, so much better if the cup inserts were fixed. They float when putting the bra on and off and definitely get badly displaced in the wash. You could take the cups out, but if you are like me the extra padding on your breasts when working out and doing yoga is important.
I really love this bra. I was a bit hesitant about the wide open back and it not staying in place during high output activities, but this is definitely one of my favorite sports bras that I own. I wear it for everything!
I love this bra for it's comfort and shape. It's really great for everyday wear. I would NOT wear it for running or even mountain biking. I'm a D cup and it is no where near the level of support I prefer for high impact activities. But it is great for yoga!
I was on the hunt for a sports bra for so long because I just wanted something super simple without clasps. This one fits me perfectly and is so comfortable.
The chart said a medium would fit a 34d but the fit runs small. Also, I don't think this is for "medium impact", it really isn't doing much to hold. I've tried to like it due to its awesome design but I'm going to have to hold on to it and return it next time I'm in the city. Sad.
This is a sturdy sports bra, and the fabric is soft and stretchy. However, the strap design is so uncomfortable. For my body type, the straps may be too short in length from rib cage to my shoulder. I use this primarily for running. Highly recommended for smaller ladies!
I wear a 34A but sized up to a Medium because everyone mentioned these ran small. I definitely should not have gone a size up. The medium gives me a lot of movement. This bra does have a great shape, is well constructed, and will last a long time. I just wish I would have looked at the size chart.
I wanted to love this bra so much!! I'm a 32C++, 130 lbs, 5'7" for reference, Small or size 2 in everything. I ordered a Medium and feel like it's squeezing the girls to death, and pushing them out the top of the bra. No way could this be comfortable for anything I do. For a B cup or smaller, I think it would be PERFECT! The mat... Read Moreerial is amazing and I love the cut, just not the right style for me.

Comfortable and supportive
I find this bra to be true to its description- supportive enough for trail running for B size (but probably not for bigger). The straps are comfortable, and seem to put less stress on my neck than other crossback bras. I haven't tested it long enough to know if the stretchy straps will keep their elasticity in the long run, but for now its gre... Read Moreat. It will also make a nice stand in for a swim top when I run to a lake to swim.
It could probably work well for other activities, but since mine fits snugly I'm only using it for running (but I think this is just a function of the fit for me).
Perfect and comfy for long trail runs under a tank or longsleeve. Just wish the manufacturing label wasn't so big - it chafed on the first few runs and I ended up ripping it out.
I own two of these bras in M (5'7", 140 lbs, 34B) and use them for all activities high or low impact - hiking, mountain biking, running, skiing etc. I am a fan of basic bras without a lot of bell and whistles and this one fits the bill - supportive but minimalist. I also appreciate the odor control treatment. My only complaint is that I d... Read Moreespise the removable pads that are in this sports bra (I also hate the removable pads in bathing suits). I immediately removed them because they are annoying - they make the bra much less quick drying and move around in unfortunate manners. I was returning other items in my order so I enclosed the removable pads, too. Hopefully Patagonia will reuse them and they won't go to waste. Maybe offer tops with or without the pads when you are ordering?
I was looking for a sports bra that has padding to hide my "headlights," but not to make my boobs look bigger, and this bra is great for that. The pads, however, fold up, move around when putting it on, so that kind of annoying. Also, it has started to pucker along the top seam in the middle of my chest (I'm guessing from stretching ... switchback sports bra
I like the softness of the band and it is wide enough to not bind.
I wear a 34B size and for me this bra was perfect. I usually do weight lifting and box jumps and I feel wearing this piece I have the support that I need. Love the fabric!
Overall it gets the job done for trail running. Nice support. Still not sure how I feel about the straps. They look cute but it hits the shoulder blades and takes some getting used to. I do like the fit of the band.
It does the job without being too much of a bra. I like the look of the straps, too. I wish they were adjustable, or just a little longer for me, but the fit is still comfortable. I own three. This is my go-to workout/outdoor life bra.
This bra is awesome in the cups, neck and shoulders-only complaint is that sometimes rides up or pinches in the sides/back area after long (and I mean loooooong) day of wear. Not enough to stop me from wearing it.
I bought this bra to run in but love it so much that I mostly wear it for daily wear. I love that the back is minimal. I did just buy 2 more so that I can use them for running. I'm a 36/38 b/c cup and I find it supportive enough when I do wear it running. I even bought one for my sister-in-law and she reports that it worked great on her long r... Read Moreun.
This is my 3rd switchback sports bra and definitely my favorite model for running and cross country skiing. It’s very comfortable, even for those hot weather longer runs.
I am an A/B 34. This bra gives barely enough support to go for a hike and I couldn’t even wear for yoga or a swim top because as soon as you bend over your boobs fall up and out of it.

Small
Im 5'6" 120.The medium size is much more what I would consider small. It was not just the circumpfrance but the band width too. The fabric and shape was cute.
I am a petite 5’3” and 125 pounds barely a B cup and the Switchback bra size medium way is too tight. Disappointing because otherwise comfortable and cute, will return the unopened one and buy something else.
We're sorry this was too tight! Please [let us know](https://www.patagonia.com/customer-service.html) if you have any questions regarding our return process.

My favorite sports bra
I'm 5'6 127 pounds 34B/C. I wear the medium. This sports bra is super comfortable. I wear it for everything now,all my outdoor fun as well as work as I have a few. If its "super impact" like running, I'll wear another sports bra but otherwise this is the only one I wear for everything. I'm not a fan of bra's, espe... As the added bonus, I have a cast on my arm right now and its easy for me to put on and off.
I bought this bra about a year ago and it has held up well. I'm 5'9, 160lb, and usually wear a Patagonia medium, so that's what I bought. Bust size 32D. I wear it all the time and just bought another on sale because I'm afraid I'd wear mine out! I see other reviewers said the elastic band around the ribcage didn't hold... Read More up well, but mine has. I probably wear this bra 4-5 times a week on runs, hikes, and bike rides, or working outside at my job. It is cute and supportive. The fit is snug and kind of flattens my boobs, but I like that in a sports bra- I'm able to run in it without bouncing around. The large would probably work for me as well, but I like the support of the medium. So, while it may not work for everyone it definitely works for me!
Not nearly enough support for size DD, was very disappointed in the bra because I read reviews that seemed to indicate it was pretty supportive. Disappointing.
Keeps the girls in place - will repeat purchase for sure
Love this switchback sports bra. Not only does it keep the ladies in their place, but it switches up the potential chafing areas with the unusual strap orientation. I really love it and plan to buy another one!
sports bra - I bought a M and the Size is true. I am 5'4 130 size B. If the straps were adjustable that would help with the fit being perfect. Great material moves with your body.
The design looks great for this bra, but as mentioned by others the elastic doesnt seem to be robust. It has already started disintegrating after a couple of wears.
We're sorry to hear the elastic has started to disintegrate. Please feel free to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) it back to us under warranty.

Supportive and flattering
I've only worn this once so far for a weight lifting workout. Will see how it holds up during a run but it felt very secure and made the girls look 👌
I love my barley bra, and cross beta for climbing and yoga and wanted something with a little more support for running. The switch back seemed to fit the bill, but apparently not my lats. You know it "Suffocation... no breathing." It didn't go great, it just wasn't meant to be. I am 5'4 125 a 36A and a small in all Patagonia clothing, I passed this poor lil guy beaten and tattered on to a friend a good size smaller than me who loves the thing, so there is also that :)
I am an athletic 34B and the M fits me well for both low and high impact activities. The Switchback is comfortable - no digging into my shoulders and not excessively tight around the chest. For several years I have had a variety of Patagonia sports bars in regular rotation. This one is not my favorite, the elastic band around the base of the bra rolls and as a result gets uncomfortable with wear.

A new favorite!
Supportive and cute, I don't know what more I could ask for in a sports bra. I haven't purchased a bra from Patagonia in quite some time and this one is pure gold. Infinitely superior to their Active Mesh Bra that I was used to. Perfect for running and hiking. I normally wear a 34C and bought a small, its tight but I like it that way.
I absolutely loved the style of the old switchback bra, with the straps that wrapped around from the back and fit into little claps in the front towards the bottom. I have five of those bras and they remain to be the only bra that fits my 28F chest and actually gives me real support. It was something special. This is just like every other sports br... I did have a slight uniboob when I purchased and wore this bra. My complaint is the strap around the back - It's the same thickness as the straps that go over the shoulders. It's fine in the shoulders but more support is needed in the back. I LOVE the barely bra and returned this bra to get a second one of those.
I bought this bra in Large as I have many times in the past..
Your bras are now made differently, THE SIZES ARE NO LONGER ACCURATE.
You must have changed who you have produce these items..
I went up to a XL and it too fit terrible.. Not even comfortable any more..
This bra gave me uniboob and flattened me out-- not really a big deal. The biggest issue though, is that the straps are very thick and cross right over my shoulder blades. Most cross-back bras don't do this, but this one crosses higher than most bras because of where the straps are sewn on the band. I don't have alot of back fat, but the ... I bought my first Switchback a few months ago and fell in love. I plan to keep buying this style and replace my old sports bras! The back is sassy and the front provides coverage and lift. I am a 36C in a size medium.
I am 34 D,size medium. This bra provides pretty good coverage. The open pattern in the back is attractive. However,it makes a major uniboob and does not offer much support. The straps could probably be adjustable and this might provide a better fit. The material feels on the lower end of quality for a Patagonia product. I returned the product.
I wish I had bought five of these. I absolutely love this sports bra. Super comfy, very supportive; I'm a 34C and got a Medium and it fits perfectly. Use this for running and hiking I will definsee felt be buying this again and would highly recommend!
It's really disappointing that Patagonia can't be bothered to make a high-impact bra for anyone above a B cup. I'm a 34D and I got a medium. It's good for yoga...that's about it. I'd like to support environmentally responsible companies like Patagonia, but I guess I don't have that option when it comes to bras.
