The brief fits like a bikini

They are still functional and you can't see this from the outside. But I wonder how long they will last.
Bring back old style
I bought my older versions about 4-5 years ago. Wear like iron. Perfect. Newer style is smaller, less comfortable, itchy, and not the same. Also, why can't we have good old beige? Why do companies always change tried and true styles?

I own about 15 pairs of the old version, which means they are all a few years old. I really could use some replacements by now, but the new version is so little and uncomfortable, I will not wear them.
Hi Karen, we're so sorry to hear those briefs aren't comfortable for you! If you haven't returned them already, we'll be happy to help you [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) them for a refund.
Wouldn't call it a brief style!
So, just like everyone else, I purchased these after my older model version wore out. I read these reviews but told myself to not be swayed and give them a good try. First impression was not a good one as they did fit more like a bikini or hipster style. They are low cut compared to any other brief style I have tried. The material is much lighter w... Read Moreeight and thinner than previous models as well. They did cover my larger butt well, which is surprising because they look so small and insubstantial. But, as I promised I said I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and to my surprise they didn't bug me at all. Like, I literally forgot about them all day. They stayed in place without pulling out wedgies or the waistband rolling down. Keep in mind this is under fitted leggings (pack out tights) so they get help staying in place with tight clothes. I guess the real test will be when I wear a skirt or loose pants. I have a 31" waist and 42" hip so I fall between a medium and large. If I end up buying more I will probably buy a large not because the mediums don't fit but just to see if they might come up a little higher in the front.
Please bring back the old versions
This new version is horrible compared to the old ones. There is much less material...the fit is way off. Also, the top band consistently unravels after a couple of wears. I have some from many years ago that are still not unraveled. Sending them back is not a solution. Please just make them good quality and fit!!
Not the same as older version
PLEASE bring back the older version! Ive worn these for years, and recently added a few more. The newer version is inferior. You had a winner; you cant improve it, so why try? Please go back to the old design, fabric and quality!

Bring back the old style!
Not enough stretch. They do not fit as well; very disappointed. I will have to find another brand after many years. My old style is giving out.
Thank you so much for providing your review of these briefs. Feedback like this is immensely helpful in improving our products going forward, and we've shared it with our Product Team. I am joining the chorus of women who swore by the older Active Briefs and are so so disappointed in the newer ones! Bring back the old fit
I fell in love with Patagonia underwear awhile back because of the fit. For some reason, the last batch of Patagonia underwear didn't fit as well. The hipsters were cut lower, further below my belly button. They are okay and not as good as the former design. I hope you'll bring the old design back.
Not the same quality as the old pairs
I have purchased Patagonia underwear for 13 yrs and in the past 3-4 yrs all Patagonia underwear (I have three different styles in various sizes from small to large) have changed for the worse. Not like they used to be
I have been wearing the Active Briefs for over 10 yrs. The new ones are not as well made nor as comfortable as the older versions. The elastic leg openings are flimsier. Womens active briefs
Ive worn these briefs for many , many years. The newer purchases are inferior to the briefs from 5 or 10 years ago. The fit is smaller, the fabric is inferior. The elastic frays after a few washings.. bring back the old designs and materials..
Hi Amy, thank you for taking the time to write a product review. We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with the Active Briefs and have passed your feedback along to our Design Team. We have updated the fabric package in the last 5-10 years for added wicking, softness and odor control. Though this shouldn't cause the elastic to fray in the way you're describing. We'd recommend [sending](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) this back to us under our Warranty.
Quality has diminished in the last few years
My Patagonia underwear, which used to last forever, now are all fraying, in the elastic around the legs, and also in the crotch. These are just not durable undergarments anymore. Great underwear ruined by tag
These underwear are lightweight, fit well and moisture wicking. They had potential to be my new favorites! Unfortunately there are long tags inside. I cut at the dotted line to lose most of them and now it is scratchy and annoying. This greatly adversely affects their comfort.
bring back the old styles
I've worn - and loved - Patagonia underwear for decades. It was difficult to order this time - there isn't a way to know how much of the buttocks will be covered or where it will hit on the hips: the Hipster and the Active Brief look essentially the same. I soon discovered that the measurements on this - while initially looking exactly like my old pairs - were just a bit off. Depending on my style of pants and the activity, these new ones might sit just fine or they might fold over at the abdomen Or they might twist and shift over the back side. Often both. I've returned them. I am so disappointed and echo the many other reviewers who have asked for the previous underwear styles to be made available again. Please identify all the measurements: not just the hip/waist. A graphic comparing the styles would be so helpful. And please bring back the old styles.
Thumbs Waaay Down on the updated design
I've been buying Patagonia's Women Active Briefs for years and rely on their quality and comfort. This updated style is poor on every front. Hi Kristen! Thank you for the feedback. We're glad you were able to return them. We've passed this along to our design team. At this time we don't have a timeline to share on a revamp of these. But do know, that designs take about 36 months from design to production.
I Also Want Them to Bring Back the original Fit and Style
I have been wearing the active briefs for 10 years now and wish they would bring back the wonderful fit and style. The newer runs fall apart sooner and are less comfortable. Why destroy the design and make of a winner?
Thanks for the feedback Laura! We've passed it along to our design team.
I was so excited to see the active wear briefs available again. Im 63, size 10, and just not comfortable in bikini anything. These briefs are still a little low cut for my taste. Panties in a Wad
When I first started using Patagonia ladies briefs about 8 years ago, I could not be happier. They were superior to any other I had ever tried. I went from a medium to a large overnight, and there were no French fries in between. If that doesnt make a gal sad, then I dont know what would. I have 8 year old underwear that I am still wearing that have absolutely no stains in the crotch area and arent faded but my 3 year old underwear are all stained and faded. Third, 2 pair of my newer underwear are falling apart, the elastic and the fabric around the leg openings are coming undone. How many more reviews asking for the old style are needed? The tags are awful, the fit gone woke. Like many other items, the updated fit has decided those with curves need not apply. I have at least 10 pair of these undies, some at least 10+ years old. They have lasted forever. BUT the older ones fit SO much better. They sit up just below the navel and hug my curve there. Ok, but not as good as the original briefs
Not as good as the briefs of about 12 years ago, which are hanging in there, but aging. But a somewhat ok substitute, but why did they alter a great product? This new one, more lines. And I will bet its not going to last12 years.

Bring back 2015
One more vote for Bring Back 2015. I am despondent at the loss of the old Active Brief. Like others, I am wearing old pairs until the bands roll up and even considering taking them to a seamstress, which is weird. Please bring back the old style!!!! Not like the old active ear briefs!
I am an active 68 year old (hike, climb, canoe, camp etc.) I loved the old style active brief from Patagonia style # 32404. Great style, comfort and wearability. Excited, I bought them, only to find when I got them home they were the exact same size as the active hipster. They sit lower on the abdomen and measure a smaller distance from waist band to crotch. Why they say this one is a brief when it appears to be the exact same size as the hipster I don't know. I gave the hipster pair and my newly purchased "briefs" to my daughter. I will not be buying this product 32396 even though it is now back in stock. Please, please bring back the old active brief for women like me. I would happily buy ten pairs or more of the old style right this minute.
