If we have any hope of a thriving planet—much less a business—it is going to take all of us doing what we can with the resources we have. This is what we can do.
If you're buying this, honestly, you probably already know how patagonia shirts and clothing in general fits; generally billowy and oversized.
If you have an athletic build, this isn't going to look that good on you, IMO. But again, you probably know this.
This thickness is real nice; the thickest t shirt I own. Feels like it will last a... Read More long time.
Patagonia goes on and on about all the environmental stuff, but the shirt came wrapped in a plastic bag. A little disappointed in that. Why??? The envelope mailer was fully cardboard/paper though.
Hi Eric, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Patagonia products arrive at our DC in boxes. The boxes that arrive from the factories are often broken, torn, or open upon arrival. This exposes finished products to dirt, moisture and damage. The polybags (those clear plastic bags that your product comes in when you mail order it) protect them during transport.
While at the DC, gear is stored, processed (moved around on a conveyor belt transport system) and packed. We have researched the effectiveness of polybags by sending products through our internal DC process without the bags, and we found that about 30% of products were damaged beyond the point of being sellable when they were run through the shipping system without a polybag. This is unacceptable, because the most environmentally responsible thing we can do is ensure the products we make are sold to customers and used for decades.
We're currently looking into a bio-based material called Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) that could be a promising material to use to make polybags that are both bio-based and biodegradable.
In the meantime, polybags can be returned to us. We bale them at the Reno DC, and they are turned into material for decks on houses. Customers and wholesalers can return polybags to us at our retail stores or by shipping them to us.

Runs a little big
Love all these responsibilit shirts. Ibe bought them almost exclusively because they fit the best and are long enough for my heigh (6 foot 3). This one specifically runs long and is almost annoyingly long. The shirt is great quality as always but the length is just the sore spot. Would still recommend!
Really cool unique color and art. Nice mustard brown that you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. 70s era font on the back. Huge fan. Also its made from recycled plastic, so its worth the buy.
