Good organization
It is surprising how much I like this bag. With room for 4 rods and reels, plus much more. I use it for road trips and air travel.
The configuration is nice. Hold 4 reels, and as many rods. But the case is 4in too short to fit 40in piece rods. Just too bad since most 2 pieces rods are that length. I will love Patagonia to make a longer version (42in interior) and additional colour.
Thank you for the feedback, Martin! We recommend checking out the "Specs & Features" tab on the product page to get all the details on a product before purchasing. We do have the internal volume listed for this case, "36" (91cm) internal length, big enough to fit four-piece rods up to 11' (3.35m)". Our apologies for any disappointment! We'll share your feedback with the product team. If you'd like to begin a return, please [click here](https://www.patagonia.ca/returns.html).

Well made, does the job, but...
Well made, does the job, but the fabric and overall build is not quite as bomb proof as the black hole series of duffels. It is probably plenty durable, but maybe should get a different name so as not to disappoint those who own the heavier, bomber black hole duffles. All that said, I would buy again. Its a good price compared to other such cases o... Read Moren the market.
Used this on a recent saltwater trip. 8,9,10 wt rods, 3 reels and 2 extra spools, flies, 7 tippet spools, 8 Maxima spools, tools and all other gear fit easily. Even shoved clothing around my gear and in the front pockets. Ended up using this plus a 55L Black Hole Backpack and fit everything I needed for a week in Mexico with space to spare. Case se... Read Moreems rigid enough to withstand checking if you pack right, but would label it as fragile for safer airport handling. Gate checked it but I preferred to take it as a carryon. Got some push back a time or two because of its extra long size (other gear manufacturers have shorter options for 9ft rods or shorter) but overall was accepted by airport staff as a carryon. Love the capacity of the exterior pockets!
This is an awesome product! The case seems rigid enough to protect the rods and reel and everything else yet not so heavy where it would be a pain to cart around. The material is good quality and durable for many years of future use. It has more than enough compartments for everything I would basically need. I found that I can fit 5 to possibly 6 f... Read Morelyrods in their rod socks in it. I could fit my 11' 4 piece trout spey along with 4-5 of my 8'-10' rods with room to spare. You could easily fit 5-6 reels but I will probably only pack it with 3-4 reels. I could almost fit my 11' 9" 4 piece switch rod in its sock in it but it was just an inch to short, but I think it could fit up to an 11' 6"/11' 7" 4 piece switch rod in its sock.
Along with the rod and reels I'll be packing 3-6 average size fly boxes and tippet spools. The flatter pockets will fit all of my leaders, tips, heads and extra fly lines, as well as nippers and hemostats. There is still room for gloves, buffs and any other soft goods.
I really look forward to packing this in my truck for my trips out west and I no longer will have to drag around a half dozen rod tubes and my reel case. This will take up less space and will get just about everything into one case. Awesome product!!!!
I keep all my trout Spey equipment in this case and it keeps it all organized.
I also started using it as my shotgun case and it protects my gun and shells perfectly.
STOP, save your money and go elsewhere, it's no better than any Chinese made rod case on the market. Bought this case with very high expectations of it matching the quality of all my Patagonia gear. Limited storage, inside fabric won't hold up to long-term use and doubtful of secure outside protection for rods. On top of that, was sent in... Read More a box that was large enough to hold 3 cases. Used a half-roll of strapping tape to patch box for return. Poor quality experience all around from Patagonia.
Hey Ken, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that this rod case was such a disappointment for you. The material is made from 300-denier postconsumer recycled polyester fabric coated with a rugged, recycled TPU laminate; so it should definitely stand the test of time. The modular dividers also let you customize the organization of the interior case. Nonetheless, we're glad you were able to send it back for a refund. Great idea
Hallelujah to Patagonia for a great idea. Here are two suggestions:
1. Immediately duplicate this product to hold two rods and two reels.
2. What about Spey rods? Adding this rod case for my 12-6 and 13 ft Spey rods would be perfect.
Keep up the good work.
