Purchased for use on bikepacking and camping trips, when keeping things light and saving space are necessary. Not a climber, but paired with a jacket, which I always bring on outings, this piece is just so danged useful.
I've used this bag in a variety of temperatures from 30F to -10F. Having this bag means I don't need a dedicated winter bag. As it gets colder, I wear warmer hooded jackets as needed which I have with me anyway. When it gets below 20F I use it with my jackets inside a 40F synthetic sleeping bag to create a warmer bag that gets me to -10F.... Read More Since it can be humid in the Northeast the synthetic over bag helps with moisture management. I was vacillating between a regular and a long, had an opportunity to get a used long and I'm happy with it. There's more room for more layers when it's really cold and the extra wiggle room is nice in more moderate temperatures. It's well made, light, and versatile.
I usually crawl into my sleeping bag with a jacket of some kind still on, then end up having to take it off and zip into the mummy position at some point during the night. With this design, I can simply sleep in my jacket and move my arms around freely all night. Sadly the backpack trip I ordered this for was cancelled due to fires. Might still get...
