These earned me the trail nickname "fancy pants"
I'm really impressed with these pants, so much that I'll probably end up buying another pair. I wanted a pair of lightweight pants for backpacking which I could wear without a belt. I really dislike convertible pants and so I prefer a lightweight pant which won't get too hot. These fit and move well with lots of thoughtful details. p... I showed my friends and they nicknamed me Fancy Pants. I've been called worse! Con: Pronghorn Tan color is a very light tan, almost sand colored. Shows dirt a little too easily. My next pair will be a darker color. I'm 6'2" 195lbs. I usually wear a 36 or a 35 waist. 33 inch inseam is perfect for me.
We really appreciate all your detailed feedback, Barrett!
One Pair of Pants for Everything
I have 3 pairs of these pants to hedge against a change to what I consider perfection. My oldest pair is 4 years old and worn continuously. I now use these for everything: wear at home, climbing at the gym or outside, work, X-C skiing or running in the cold with a layer underneath them. Don't change a thing! These pants are my favorites.
Rock climbers with no butt
Recently happy to lose weight and fit 33/34" waist jeans comfortably. However, so many brands make pants for really narrow hip stick figure cartoon character legged men. Lacking some quality
They fit and look nice, decent water repellent material. My only complaint is after my first time using them the stitching on the right butt pocket pulled and is noticeably lifting. It looks like an old pair of pants would after repeated use and wear (in that one specific area)

Waistband works loose
I just wore these pants three days in a row hiking in Sedona Arizona. I was constantly pulling my pants up because the string pull at the waist works its way loose. The crotch has a strange fit also. My plan is to exchange them for some other style. I would not recommend them.

Some of the best features of these pants are the pockets. The zippered pocket on the right side is great for phones and is below the leg loop of my harness. The material is very comfortable when climbing and pretty breathable. I like how the cuffs are adjustable, but that the bungee is so light that you dont even notice it until you need it.
Heed the other reviews. These pants are unwearable. They are very low rise and very tight in the crotch. The "gusseted crotch" is more like a tapered leg, not enough fabric and not in the right place. Can barely walk in them, no way I would ever attempt to hike or climb in them.

Perfect in mind but not in body.
The pants are killer, well made and super comfy, built to do the job...BUT... they are cut to fit Chouinard!!! You can't get an inseam past 34" and that's no good if you're over 6'. I had to return the pants, totally bummed. Jackets fit though!

Would Love These in Long
The fit is true to size. I wear 31" waist Patagonia jeans and cords. I recently used these on a climbing trip in Colombia. There were bugs. The pants performed well, but my inseam is 34"-plus so these don't fully cover my ankles, especially when I'm moving. The mosquitoes feasted on my uncovered ankles. My (and my itchy ankles)... No belt loops
No belt loops and really baggy way to large
Hey Ken, thanks for the review on the RPS Rock Climbing Pants. We're sorry to hear it ultimately did not work out. To check on the features for each item, you'll want to scroll down on it's product page and click on the "Specs & Features" button. This is where you'll find if pants have belt loops or not, and any additional features. The design on these pants is a bit more streamlined, and you're correct, it does not have belt loops but it does have the OppoSet Adjustable Waist. For a similar pair of pants with belt loops, we recommend checking out the [Men's Venga Rock Pants](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-venga-rock-climbing-pants/83082.html?dwvar_83082_color=NVYB&cgid=root).
Very small around the crotch
This pant has very small fit around the groin and waste area. Im not going to go into detail about it as other reviews have talked enough on it. I would like to see the pants be bigger around those areas as well as maybe get a tapered leg option. The material is great and love the design and the pronghorn tan but unfortunately it was too small.
We appreciate your feedback, and we're sorry these didn't work out. If you haven't already returned them, please reach out. We'll be happy to [help](https://help.patagonia.com/s/)! Also you might prefer our Venga, Gritstone, Altvia or Hampi Pant. Thanks for the review, Rafael!
Great fit, Great pant
I needed / wanted a pant for me to wear for almost everything I would be doing. These pant do just that. Fit and move every which way I do is great. No bulk yet all the pockets I need. Tapered leg is comfortable, never restricting and if needed, can be drawn with shock cord at the bottom.
Pronghorn Tan--Is NOT Tan at all
I was expecting a pant that was in the beige/brown/tan palette of colors. This was a pale yellow--nothing at all like it looked on the screen and definitely not what I expected. I'm working on returning them. :-(
Hi Robert, thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We're really sorry to hear that the color was not what you were anticipating. We've reached out to you directly with return assistance.
Poor fit has become a norm for Patagonia pants
It appears that the Patagonia designers have decided that men neither have external genitalia nor gluteal muscles. How one would climb in these without compromising their ability to have offspring is a mystery. That said, the durability of the material, the DWR coating, and location of the pockets are all spot on. Now if they only fit
Hey Shorin! Thanks for the detailed feedback on the fit. We're really sorry they don't work for you. You're always welcome to return them.
Literally the best pants on the market.
I have 5 pairs of these pants. The first pair I purchased over 5 years ago strictly for rock climbing. Those pants are still in my kit. I recently purchased two pairs to wear to work because they are the most comfortable pants I've ever owned. They are amazing.

I wrote a review a while ago, but after wearing these pants a little longer and compared them with other climbing pants, I would like to update/revise my review about these pants. I wore these pants for a fall season of light cragging and they held up fine and were very comfortable. However, two days of summer CO alpine absolutely destroyed these pants. The best climbing pants I have tried!
Lightweight, breathable, super-durable, extremely fast to dry. Perfect fit under the harness and wont prevent me from any stretchy movements (even though my stretch sucks). Good lightweight rock climbing pants
I've been wearing these pants for rock climbing for a little over 2 years now. They're lightweight, stretchy, and non restrictive. I do like them a lot, but I just wish they're a little bit more durable as I got holes everywhere now due to heavy usage.

Climbing in style
Ive only worn these pants gym climbing once or twice so far but the fit is perfect, they are super light, and they allow for whatever type of movement you may need for the kind of bouldering I do. Cant speak yet to the durability as I have not had them that long or used them on real rock yet but I hope they last forever!
Great summer pants for traveling
Those are my number one pants for traveling. More summery as the texture is soft and stretch; it sure looks very climber-oriented. The final sin of the pants is how they severely lack crotch room unlike any pants I have purchased, it makes me wonder if Patagonia had eunuchs in mind rather than climbers when designing these pants. If Patagonia could fix the issues while maintaining the lightness and packability of the pants they would be great.

These pants year in and year out are a great workhorse in my arsenal of pants. I have taken them both indoor and outdoor climbing, and they work great for the most part. Another great pair of pants. These are my go to in hot weather. Nice and light material wicks a bit of sweat and keeps the breeze flowing. Perfect for cinching above the calf on hot days, or around the ankles when the afternoon wind is blowing up your skirt. Cut is good for me, I almost can’t get them to bind on me (the baggies pants, in contrast, bind badly on me in a comparable size). Something to watch out for is the way the butt pockets are sewn; it’s true there are two layers of material there, but the only thing making the pockets are two lines of stitches that form the bottom edge of the pocket. So once in a while these stitches wear through after too much butt-scooching through boulder fields and if you look into the back pocket you can see all the way down in the pants. It’s an easy fix of running a straight stitch across there and they’re good for another several months- but that’s the only real flaw I’ve found with these pants. Overall great rock climbing pants.
