Very light, wind resistant pant.

I work in an outdoor recreational store and I bought a pair of these and loved them so much I bought another pair in another colour. They fit great, are very light and are a lot more wind resistant than I thought they would be. Pockets are great as well. I use them for a casual pant, at work and hiking and actually sometimes to go rollerblading!

"Alpine"? Really?

Love nearly all things Patagonia, but these were a huge miss for me. The waist drawstring runs only halfway along your waist and then hits elastic, and there are no beltloops, so you can't tighten them, like at all. The result for me: Having to constantly pull them up as they sag down, which is hugely annoying on long multipitch climbs when we... Read Morearing a harness and trips into the alpine with a pack. Oh, and about that whole "alpine" thing? Zero weather resistance, and zero durability. The leg pocket ripped the second time I used them after brushing up against some rough granite here in New Mexico, and the knees are already going after only a few uses. These are basically just the super-thin joggers with the word "alpine" thrown in for marketing. I'm stuck with them now though... I'd look elsewhere!

Pants are very comfortable and

Pants are very comfortable and the purchase was very easy to make😃

Comfortable and not Baggy

fits is perfect - super comfortable without being baggy; if you hide the cinch strings in front, you can wear them to work

July 25, 2023

Strange design, very long legs

The material is super light and stretchy. Not like normal pants, more like warm up pants. I have a 29" inseam, and these were at least 6" too long in a size 30. Also not a traditional closer (fly and button) but more like sweat/warmup pants. Did not work at all for me, returned.

Hi Sean, thank you for sharing this feedback on these pants. It's true that the waist isn't designed with a zippered fly but rather partial elastic and a drawcord in order to be more comfortable under a harness or backpack, and to save on weight. We're sorry the features and fit were disappointing, and we are passing along your feedback about the inseam to our product designers. Thank you for returning something that wasn't going to make you happy. Please let us know if we can help you find an alternative you will love!

The inseam says 32 but easily 34

Fit is good but these pants run long Having them hemmed now

Hi Craig! Thank you for taking the time to write us a review on the Altvia Light Alpine Pants. We're sorry to hear the inseam was a bit too long. The pants feature a graduated inseam which we understand doesn't always allow for the perfect fit. We'll share this feedback with our design team to keep in mind for future seasons.

Awesome all-purpose pants

These pants are great for trail running. The waist doesn't slip down. The stretch in the fabric doesn't bind at the knees. For the same reason, these are awesome work from home pants going from my standing to sitting desk and being on video calls all day. They also work as casual pants in the evening. All around great.

Favorite Climbing Pants

I love the way these pants fit! Great stretch and movement. I have them in both size 30 and 31. I typically wear a 31 in jeans, but I prefer these in size 30 so I recommend sizing down. The seam at the top of the waist band is a little stiff but not a big deal.

March 25, 2023

Runs small

I typically wear a 31 in Patagonia. I had to get these in a 34, and they are still quite slim through the legs. They do look rough after a 2-week trip, so long-term durability seems questionable. Rips and snags easily against limestone, so definitely don't recommend for that. Very light so can also be used for nordic, etc.

Great climbing and hiking pants

Have stood up well so far to the Moab desert. True to size fit and very comfortable.

February 21, 2023

LOVE THE FIT!

The material is just right for temperatures in the high 30's to 60's. Your skin breathes well and fabric is non binding.

January 23, 2023

comfortable and versatile

i like these pants. they have good mobility a function. i love elastic in the back and run tie in the front. i also like that they do not have pockets in the back/seat of the pants. the thing i dislike about them in the low profile crouch. there is not enough room for comfort when getting the knee high up or when driving to the crag. perhaps a gus... Read Moreseted crouch would solve this-or just more material/room. also would love to see the same design with a light wait insulation liner.

Great All Around Pant

Amazing pant to go hiking/climbing. Has becoming my climbing gym pant. Literally wear them multiple times a week. Only gripe is that the sizing definitely bigger than expected. I have a size 32 of the normal Altiva pants and they fit perfectly. Needed to get a 31 in these and the inseam is still crazy long (coming from someone's who's 6&#... Read Morex27;1). Comfortable pants

Really comfortable and durable pants. I've hiked a ton in these and they still look brand new.

September 19, 2022

three season everything pant

This is my new favorite three season everything pant. Looks clean enough for casual pant and functional enough for high output hikes and runs

July 21, 2022

no fly zipper

I am very surprised to find that this fancy pant has no fly zipper, is this on purpose, if that is the case, it should tell customers, because it will be very inconvenient. I definitely will return it !

We're sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with our minimalist style of the Men's Altvia Light Alpine Pants. The lack of a front zipper is to provide all day comfort while hiking or climbing in a harness. We also wanted to provide an ultra lightweight pant for those who are climbing and need to count every ounce. Please feel free to reach out to our [Customer Service Team](https://help.patagonia.com/s/) if you have any questions regarding your return of these pants. We also passed your thoughts along to our Design Team. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Patagonia Men's Altvia Light Alpine Pants

This is probably the most comfortable pair of pants that I own. The fit was true to size. I am 5' 10" tall and weigh 160. The size 32 fits me perfectly. So far I have used the Altiva Light Alpine Pants for hiking. I believe they would also be great for backpacking, rock climbing, and running in cool weather. At only 9 ounces these also ma... Read Moreke a great travel garment. They take up little room in a backpack or travel bag. The draw string is a favorite of mine too many stretch waist pants leave that out. They look great around town too. From crags to the restaurant in the same pants!! Recently came down with COVID on a camping trip and found they were super comfortable to wear at night and for the long trip home.

Slim look and feel

This is a handsome pair of pants, substantial enough to hold up for a long time.

April 17, 2022

Wonderful

Excellent piece. Very comfortable, for any kind of activity

April 10, 2022

Awesome pants

The pants are super light and breezy. Easy to go to the gym in as well as work.

March 29, 2022

Best pants ever

This is my 3rd pair of the Altvia pants - they are by far the best pants I have ever owned and can be used for outside or with a sports coat. The zippered pockets are a major selling point. The only downside is all 3 pairs are slightly different - this information was not identified on the site during the buying process. I was disappointed that thi... Read Mores pair in particular has an elastic waist, no fly zipper and a drawstring versus the other 2 that had buttoned waistband, zippered fly and belt loops. Still love the comfort and will live with the differences

March 25, 2022

Comfy

Husband thought they were super comfortable and would be nice for snowshoeing/xc skiing. However he couldn't bring himself to wear the bright blue.

March 24, 2022

Climbing pants

I have these in 33 and they were slightly large, so I got another pair in 32 and they were perfect.

March 22, 2022

great quality great fit

These stripped down version Alpine Altvia LT pants - are just about perfect for every outdoor activity - aside perhaps from Sub-zero mid winter skiing: too light weight....however add some capilene pants and a windproof and you are good to go. They have everything need - but nothing you do not. Design, construction, quality are superb.

March 21, 2022

Runs long

If it's goi ng to have a waste size it should also have an inseam length choice. Ordered 31 waste and the pants were too long.

Very comfortable and easy to move in

Bought a second pair one size down and they are a closer fit to what I expected. I use these at the climbing gym and they work great!

February 28, 2022

Booom!

Another perfect piece from Patagonia! Looks amazing, very comfortable and awesome use of materials. It is a slim fit, so I got 33, so it fits my legs. Waiting for more colors

January 4, 2022

comfortable and durable.

November 8, 2021

Altvia light

I like the fabric and weight. I dont like the waist band as it does not adequately keep the pants up when Im using them actively. I would suggest elastic coupled with a better waist cord. I also find the pants a bit long and with too much fabric towards my feet.

October 27, 2021

Perfect Fit, Love the Details

These are excellent climbing and running pants. Super comfy, and they are plenty long for taller peoplemy inseam is 34"+.

June 28, 2021

Nice, but too Long!

Nice pants, but the inseam is too long. Patagonia, I really appreciate that you all finally started to make more technical and casual pants with short, regular, and long insteams. With these, however, the one regular inseam does NOT work well for people with shorter legs. The pants bunch too much at the ankle and get damaged by brush, rock, and cra... Awesome comfort, circumstantial durability

Extremely comfortable, you'll want to wear them all the time. The blue color resemble scrubs, but still very nice. Work well for climbing, hiking/running, or work. Superb Range of Motion

These pants have been very comfortable and have a great range of motion. The fit is a little large and tightening the drawstrings only tightens the elastic in the waist band -- the drawstrings do not go around the entire waist.

April 24, 2021

COMFORTABLE

Very comfortable and great fit. Perfect for climbing in the fall and late spring or just to wear around town. I plan on buying a second pair

April 6, 2021

Super Comfortable, Great Stretch

I bought these pants for rock climbing in the southeast because of the stretch, breathability and durability for the weight. Great running pants

I wore these on a 10 mile run in 30 degree, windy weather this AM and they were about perfect. I did not even think about the pants the entire run, even with a gel, keys and doggie bags in the pockets.
