Great jacket - super light weight, warm, great color and nice styling. Sized up as it is labeled slim fit. The slim fit designation seems to be true in the shoulders and upper arms but less so in the lower body, where it fits like a Patagonia regular fit.

Poor quality came with loose stitching
My first coat from Patagonia ever and I really loved it, I still do. Its just it came with loose stitching near the hand pocket and will need to be returned or repaired because it will only get bigger (the hole).

Beautiful Jacket
Overall this is a beautiful jacket. Light weight and warm. It was just a little snug in the shoulder arm area so will be returning.
This is my favorite jacket, warm enough for cold weather use and also great for indoor when you feel chilly. Super packable and lightweight. I tried the large size first, way too tight. Xl works but a little loose. (Im 5-10 210). Buy this you will love it.
Very lightweight and keeps you warm, may need layers if below freezing. Only concern is down keeps coming out a little not sure if that's to be expected.
Love this jacket. Lightweight, warm, looks sharp and layers well. Some say its made with bits of real panther. 60% of the time, it works every time. 2 thumbs up!
I bought this for my husband. We have purchased Patagonia products over the years and have come to expect a certain level of quality for the price we pay. Size L doesn't seem like trim fit
I tried both the medium and large in this jacket. The medium felt trimmer than regular/normal fit, but the large felt like regular fit or perhaps even baggier than regular fit in the mid section. The jacket does its main job well - it is light and warm. The secondary jobs of pockets the jacket can pack into are ok but not great - the zippers on the pockets are a bit finicky (probably too small) and can easily get caught on the jacket fabric. When packed, the jacket is an irregular triangle shape (this is shown on the product page, but in pr... Read Moreactice the shape is more irregular). The resulting packed material is a bit squishy - I think the limiting factor on a tighter packing is the mediocre pocket zipper.
Overall a good jacket with some minor design flaws.
Very happy with this jacket. I'm 5'10" and 140 lbs. The fit is great, fairly form fitting with a bit of room for some thin layers underneath. Equally effective as a single layer on a cool morning or as insulation under a ski jacket.
Lightweight jacket that keeps me warm on cold days. However, the durability of the jackets material is questionable. There is a small cut near the jackets collar where the stuffing can be seen coming out. Not sure if its a manufacturing defect or material strength

Just wish your jackets had an inner pocket to conveniently hold things. Particularly when hiking or trekking its nice to have a place to place a small towel, snack, or even gloves! Otherwise its a great jacket!
Jacket is well made, ultra light and probably very warm. Unfortunately had to send back because although it fit my chest/shoulders, it was too baggy in the body for my liking. Customer service was super helpful. Would definitely recommend!
Bought this for hubs for his birthday - he cant fathom how light and comfortable it is while still being so warm. I keep finding him sitting at his desk wearing it because he loves how good it feels - hah! A success.
I'm 6'5" so I buy XL for extra length it offers. It's a little loose on me in the chest, but if needed, I can have a heavy shirt or fleece vest underneath. I like the fit around the arms, it makes for a warm, sweater-like feel, but not heavy or binding.

I got this jacket for my husband. He LOVES it. It is nice and warm, fits him great.he usually wears XL, but I got XXL because Patagonia usually runs a bit smaller than other brands. He loves the pockets too. They are deep and in a vary natural position.
This jacket fits perfectly, is lightweight yet has excellent insulating warmth, and is wonderfully compact. It shaves ounces off of similar jackets that are overkill for backpacking and climbing forays in mountain terrain.

It is pretty warm, but
It is pretty warm, but I haven't used it in cold temperatures yet. I think - 4 C was the coldest.
This is a replacement for my nano. I like it because it has a larger zipper and is easy to zip up. Zip up all the way to protect my neck from strong winter breezes. It's light weight and great for layering. My only suggestion is to replace the small pocket zippers. The pocket zippers as they are cannot be closed with one hand. other than that ... This jacket is perfect through a New Jersey winter except for a few of the coldest days. I like the fit - it's more fitted than a lot of clothes these days. I haven't tried it in any snow or rain but generally I would pull out other jackets if things get nasty.
My one request would be an interior chest pocket for my phone.
I was torn between Nano and Micro puff jacket but when Alplight went on sale, I decided to give it a go. Its warm and fits perfectly for me, and I am 5'10 and 180 lbs. I am worry about the longevity of the jacket with the material being bit flimsy so something to keep my eyes on.
I love this coat--super light and super warm. I read other reviews and was a bit worried about the slim fit, so I ordered a large, but it was too big--though it may have worked as an outer coat. Great mid-layer jacket!
I have worn this jacket several times now. I was just skiing in Breckenridge CO on a very cold day, 5 degrees without windchill, at Breckenridge. I wore this jacket with a Nano-Puff jacket under a Patagonia Shell and they kept me warm! Love the fit. Love the compact nature that fits mid-layer really well, and love the warmth!

It is also warm and extremely light weight. It looks great and fits me perfectly.

I recently purchased the Light Weight Alp Jacket and found it to be the perfect jacket for everyday winter use. Comfortable, light weight, but plenty of warmth on the coldest days.
Unusable pockets because of cheap/ poor zipper design
Will be returning this Christmas gift. Great coat otherwise but it does not have the standard small metal zipper piece attached to the zipper, just a small cord directly attached (saved them 10 cents to skip the piece?) SO the zipper wont open and close properly and gets snagged. Too bad since the coat is awesome but cant use it.

Great but no loop to hang!
Glad I got this particularly on the Winter Sale but living in a place with limited closet space, I'm hanging everything up on hooks. This is one of the only products (among dozens) I have from Patagonia that doesn't have a loop to hang it up! Not even the product tag can be used for that. Really like the fit and look of this coat. Pockets are deep enough to stow gloves and still have room for keys and phone. Its warm, yet thin enough to wear under a shell. Only thing missing is a loop on the inside collar to hang from a hook.
Perfect jacket to wear in cool to moderately cold weather.
This down jacket is perfect to wear alone in temps between 45-55 degrees. It works well as a layer beneath a shell. It is extremely lightweight, comfortable and store (folded) in to a pocket-sized bundle.
I really like warmth and light-weight of this jacket. I think the new design of pockets resolved the issue of zippers tearing off adjacent pockets of the one I had before. Great jacket. I'm 5 10 and 185 lbs. The large fit great. Super lightweight and warm. Finally replacing my down hoodie from about 15 years ago that I mailed in and Patagonia repaired for me at least twice to keep it going through the years (and at no charge). Great product, great company, well worth the price.
Normally wear a size large in Patagonia jackets. This down jacket is a very slim fit and was too tight in sleeves, armpits and across back. It appears to be well made however so if you are on the slim(very)side, go for it. I had to return it.

The AlpineLight jacket is surprisingly warm given the lack of bulk. A great jacket for winter temps in double digits. Not warm enough for single digits and lower without adding a shell or other layers. It's perfect for around town, hiking, and under a ski shell. Happy with this purchase.

Made for matchstick men
The body of the jacket is fine - BUT- the sleeves are made for guys with spaghetti arms. I can barely get the jacket on and off and it sits so tight that it won't last and the down is completely compressed around the forearms. I have other Patagonia down jackets - even some smaller (XXL) are not nearly as tight. Will have to return

Did Patagonia change the jackets to a slim fit cut?
I love the jacket, but I have ordered two different jacket sizes now and the arms are too slim cut on both. I have an athletic frame and 6'1" and have fit the large at Patagonia in everything for the last 10-15 yrs. It was my go-to, now I am stuck as the arms are cut too slim and even cut under my armpits. great look and fit
The jacket was a Christmas gift. The extra small was too small, I had NO TROUBLE exchanging it for a small. The customer service i received was great. The quality of the product is top notch. Congratulation on a great product and superb customer service - a rarity these days.
I had Patagonia microfiber jacket before and get rid of that due to poor quality of stitching. Threads and insulation keep coming out. I thought it is one of a kind issue so I purchased a new jacket but so disappointed that I am already seizing some loose stitching threads.

I wanted a light warm jacket like I had in the Army. This jacket definitely meets those expectations. Its light and not difficult to move in. It keeps me warm when I am only wearing a t-shirt underneath and it is -2. The feathers falling out happens with all brand jackets, it not just Patagonia. This is absolutely the best jacket I have in my vast Patagonia jacket collection!! Super warm, ultra light and fits great. If there was any negative it would be only two pockets.
Lightweight, reasonably warm, and packs small. I use this for long term travel and am overall very happy with it, despite the high price.
My perfect version of this jacket would have these changes:
- smaller stuff sack pocket (it can compress much more than it currently does)
- more athletic cut (1-2" trimmer around the waist)
- 70-100% more ... Read Moredown fill. For very little extra weight, it'd be much more usably warm in a wider variety of temperatures.
- true black color (this has a blue tint that camera phones will try to turn blue in some scenarios)
- matte

Great jacket for cold weather, extremely light weight and can fold into a small size.
I had to replace my 6 year old ultra light down. I had to size up because the large fit great with a t shirt but needed extra room for layers. I love the new pockets. Well, this year we are getting a ton of snow in Utah. I went on a 5 mile trail run with my dog on a on a high 20 degree evening, over a foot of fresh snow on the trail. This Jacket performed amazing. I wish I could attach some pictures. Definitely the right gear for the adventure.

Right Balance Between Warmth and Weight
It's warm well below freezing without the bulk of many other cold weather jackets.
Construction and materials are top quality. Fit is a bit boxy. The chest measurement from a M to a L is a 4 inch difference. Im 6' 2" and 185 lbs with an athletic build. The M fit perfect to my body but length was too short. The L length is perfect, but the chest and overall fit is too boxy. This makes the jacket pretty drafty as well. 2 ... Super lightweight though maintains warmth with down insulation. Very comfortable. Wear on mountain hikes and around town. Can be easily compacted into jacket pocket with clip in loop when needed. Happened to buy during great sale price in cool green color. This was a great purchase!
Excellent warmth to weight ratio, unfortunately I found my jacket to leak down with very light usage around town. I used my torrentshell jacket to protect the outer shell but the inner lining had a couple spots leaking down. Haven’t had these issues with other Patagonia products. It is normal for this to happen, particularly in newer products when the down has not had an opportunity to settle. There is no reason for alarm, and this phenomenon should not affect the performance of your jacket. Washing your item can help encourage the down to settle more quickly. For me, everything about this jacket works. I love the slimmer fit, and the amount of warmth that comes out of this lightweight jacket is very impressive.
The fit doesn't work. I am getting this to replace an old Medium (the outer fabric has worn too thin to repair further). Spiffy and cozy
Great looking iteration of the classic Patagonia light down jacket. Fits well and keeps me warm.
Purchased this lightweight jacket for an upcoming Haute Route trip this spring. Took it ski touring in the Wasatch for five days for a test run and the fill is already starting to be dramatically displaced in the underarm area where your pack straps make contact.
Hi Ian, washing and drying is a great way to help redistribute the down. We recommend using cool to cold water on a gentler cycle in your washing machine. You can use a gentle powder detergent to wash that item. Once washed, you can place your item in your dryer on a low heat setting with either two clean tennis balls, or two dryer balls. The balls will help restore the loft of the down and ensure that the item dries evenly. Please note, drying down items can take a while, so you may need to use more than one dry cycle. It's important that you use a low heat setting and check to make sure your item is thoroughly dried before removal from the dryer.

Pocket zippers are hard to close.
I tried to wear this jacket for a month but the pocket zippers were so annoying I have decided to send it back. I love the way it looks. Just not a practical coat.

Good construction

The right amount of warmth for the weight
Love it, nice fitted style. Puffy in the right spots. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that I can't understand how it doesn't have a loop so I can hang it. Is it that fragile (not that I've seen) that it can't support a loop? I would also like to see inside chest pockets. Outside pockets are nice and large.
I bought this jacket a few months ago and while I havent used it extensively Ive found it to be super comfortable, light, warm and true to size. It doesnt break the wind, but when paired with an outer shell will be great. My only issue is that my jacket has a few small threads on the inner sleeves that are irritating against the skin (if wearing a ... Super light and surprisingly warm. The fit is great and does not feel bulky on me. I love the material and the packability. Only negative is the outer material can be ripped easily. Other than that, it's an excellent jacket for hiking, climbing or casual wear. Looks great!
I really like the design of this jacket, though it fits a bit snug compared to other Patagonia jackets I own. If you plan to wear this with a base layer only it is probably good, but I wanted the option to wear with mid-layer and it felt restrictive as a system. The jacket overall is warm and comfortable, maybe a runs a bit small and super lightweight. I wish it was a little better at wind protection. There is no hook to hang up the jacket, which is very frustrating.
Was disappointed with the loft of the down fill. It appeared to be skimpy. The fit of the coat was awesome but didnt feel it would be as warm as I imagined.
Stylish light weight jack. A must have if you live in a cold climate
I got this for a trip to Antarctica. This is a light weight warm stylish jacket. I take it on hikes for when we get a temperature drop and the light weight makes it a no brained pack item.

Great warmth, wind blocking, and ultra light. The material feel is super soft and weather-proof. The size is nearly to size. Just a very slight small. The fit, design, finish, and pack ability is excellent.
I was looking for a coat that was slim fitting and where the sleeves weren't super long and something that I could travel in. The fit is perfect and it doesn't feel bulky. I like the blue color also..not obnoxious CAN GSE blue but nice and subtle.

Light, Warm, but not durable

Great coat but needs a hood!
Loved the hooded ultralight from a few years back, and picked up this year's AlpLight and for what it is, it's a great down jacket. Standalone or as a layer, it's warm yet still super light. Only thing that would really make this great is if they offered it in a hood! Please Patagonia Insulated product mgrs, bring back the hood!
