Of all the companies to work for, why Patagonia? Patagonia cares for me and the environment, offers me ways to better myself and challenges me to grow and explore all of my passions and be close to the ocean and the mountains. I feel lucky to be part of this company.
Biggest benefit of working here: A flexible schedule and promoting a balance of family and work; great day care.
How does our culture fit into your life? It makes me feel young at heart because I’m able to continue to do the things that I’m passionate about, like being close to the ocean so I can surf and use my outrigger.
Has Patagonia changed you in any way? I feel like Patagonia changed my perception of what is important: to care for the environment, as it’s all we have.
You’ve done an enviro internship and served on the environmental grants council. How’d it go? I had the opportunity to serve on the environmental grants council from 2000 to 2002, a great experience. I read grant proposals from environmental groups around the country and felt I made a difference. The experience also helped me to understand Patagonia’s core values and appreciate my work here even more.
You’ve had a child in GPCDC. How was that? Both of my children were in Patagonia’s day care program, and they are still friends with the other kids in their classrooms.
What is the favorite part of your workday? Volleyball on the sand court at lunch.
