Fight through the crux, fight to secure the key cam placement, but don’t fight to get the gear in and out of your pack. Our go-anywhere Cragsmith allows instant access to your pack’s contents via the zippered back panel and the zippered top. Two entry options make packing lightning-fast and with the U-shaped back panel, you can lay your pack at the base of a route, open it wide and never expose your gear or the pack’s harness system to grit and dirt. Inside, soft foam lines the sides and bottom to provide structure and maintain shape for easier packing. Durable Cordura® Ballistic fabric combined with reinforced haul handles and a reinforced base withstand the abrasion of craggy environments. Pockets include a zippered stash pocket for your topos and energy bars and one pocket in the lid. The top compression strap holds a rope and manages overstuffed loads; an exterior daisy chain lets you clip on even more gear. A padded waist belt, load lifters and airflow mesh shoulder straps and back panel keep you cool and comfortable when you’re wallowing up long, steep approaches. Made from 7.4-oz 630-denier nylon with a polyurethane coating. The base is 9.25-oz 940-denier Cordura® Ballistic nylon with a polyurethane coating. Both fabrics have a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's awesome I have really been impressed with this pack! It carries a ton of gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great travel pack Had this pack for a few weeks and so far it's been a great travel pack as other reviewers have noted. Fits easily in most overhead bins and will fit under an airline seat if not overstuffed. Dual openings make it very user friendly for packing. Haven't had a chance to take it hiking or backpacking yet but have not experienced any discomfort with the suspension. I'm 5'9, male with an athletic build and the large fits my torso length just fine. Minor comments/drawbacks: would be nice to have some compression straps, wish the hipbelt were stowable for airline use, and had a hard time adjusting the sternum strap height due to the design of the adjustment. Fortunately I won't have to change it again and by design the sternum strap won't shift at all once set. Overall a great versatile pack so far with enough room for a climbing rack, rope, warm weather backpacking gear, or general travel use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from overachieving pack I absolutely love this pack. The quality of build is stellat, the fit is tight and super natural, very adjustable. This thing is super cavernous and seems to hold gear beyond comprehension. Lots of well laid out features. Not hard to figure out how to make the most of it. I have easily done multi-day trips with this. I have such a personal relationship with my pack, I rarely, very rarely make a change, but wheni got this one, it fit so natural. A few clip-ons, lights, dump pouch, bottle holder, and she's become an extension of my own body. Thanks guys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from super versatile have not used for any sport specific activities yet but already works great for traveling. the back load feature makes packing very easy, just fold your clothes and drop them in. the minimalist frame and side foam enable the pack weight to be dispersed evenly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No structure Love the design, love the materials, I really like the u shaped back panel, seems durable, perfect amount of pockets... but really bad back support. I can't carry all the gear in this pack, even for sport climbs, it doesn't have back structure, my back and shoulders hurts. I've been climbing for a long time, I've used many types of packs and this is the worst(even worse than a haul bag)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Fit - very uncomfortable I wanted this to work out. The design seems ideal for climbing. However, I had to return this because of the fit. I purchased a L/XL. I'm not particularly tall (5' 10"), but the bag is too short. The waist strap buckled around mid stomach - 4-5 inches above my hips. There is no way to extend the shoulder straps to lower the waist straps. The more weight I put into it, the more the waist straps press into my stomach. Really uncomfortable. The pack rides high on your back so I felt off balanced. I think this bag might work if you are short - probably good for a woman. But make sure you test out the fit right away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inadvertently the perfect backpacking bag This bag was so perfect for my inter-city, carry-on only, stashing things in hostel lockers Euro-trip last spring. Some assorted PROS: -Its streamlined shaped on lack of superfluous straps and buckles made it a breeze on planes, trains, subways, and busses. No getting caught on things and easy to stash under seats! -Also on that note- being able to gather all the zippers to the main compartment in one place (pretty much at the back of my neck) added extra peace of mind - I didn't have to worry about pick pockets when I was carrying my pack -35L was just the right of space for the amount of stuff I needed for my month long trip, with room to spare -The clam shell opening made accessing what I needed so easy! -The reinforced pocket in the back was the perfect place to store ticket print-outs and all the paper I collected along the way -My 750 ml water bottle fit happily in the side zip-up pocket even when all my stuff was packed -I was able to use this as my carry-on to travel fast and cheap on several airlines -The smaller sized option fit my small girl body pretty comfortably. I guess my main con was that last year's colours were a bit too flashy and I wasn't entirely psyched at the options (I ended up going with navy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great crag bag. Got this bag when it first came out and have been using it for about 6 months now. I am a small frames woman and the small fits me just fine. Pros: Hold a TON. Can fit rope, draws, harness, helmet, shoes, and water IN the bag with the zipper closed once you learn how to pack it. (FYI: the arcteryx rope bag fits great in the bottom) On the flip side, a full double rack and shoes/gear/helmet will also fit in the small. Seems durable - no tears after several trips getting drug over coarse granite. Guidebook pocket is great! Carries well on my small frame. Cons: No compression straps to snug the load although usually the bag is packed full so not much of an issue. Would be nice to have bungee cord to external pack for quickly store jacket/soft goods/helmet if needed. One additional pocket somewhere for phone/wallet would be great. All in all great bag and would replace it if it were stolen or lost...I would say replace if it get damaged, but Patagonia repairs will take care of that!
