Naturally dyed fabrics change over time as they wear, fade and break in. It's part of what makes the garments in our Clean Color Collection unique.

Organic Cotton

In 1996, with an increased awareness of the dangers of pesticide use and synthetic fertilizers in growing conventional cotton, we began the exclusive use of organically grown cotton in all of our cotton products.

The quality of organic cotton is equal to or better than conventionally grown cotton, yet organically grown methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improve the quality of soil and often use less water. Growing organically takes more time, requires more knowledge and skill, and, for now, costs more. But it’s worth it.

To ensure we are buying cotton that is organic as defined by the USDA’s National Organic Program, we require numerous certificates issued by an accredited third-party certification body for every step of the supply chain, from farm to factories.

Clean Color Collection

We’ve taken the byproducts of food waste, dried beetles and the poop of silkworms (among other things) to create a line of clothing dyed with natural ingredients and sourced from 96% renewable resources.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weird Fit, Lame Zipper I was excited about this thing: cool color, great weight, looked stylish on the web site. When it came in the post, I was pretty bummed. First of all the zipper was a cheap cotton bound metal zipper (not at all what you would expect on a Patagonia jacket) with a cheesy looking/feeling zipper pull. Then I tried it on - it just was not right from a visual or comfort perspective. I like the intention here, but even if it's casual wear, I still expect good quality from the big P.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Style This jacket is just what I have been looking for from Patagonia. Something stylish I can wear out at night but comfortable. The medium fits me well, 6'1, swimmer build. I would agree with another reviewer, it's not as hefty of a jacket as you might expect. But it's definitely not flannel/shirt weight. It feels like a jacket. My one gripe with the jacket is that the dye used for the clean color line has a very noticeable and persistent smell to me it smells like I just squeezed off 100 rounds on a .50 cal mounted on a humvee, or that I just shot a few mortars off during the 4th of July. It smells heavily like sulfur/gun powder. I gave the jacket a wash and it still smells. I may need to wash it again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not really a jacket, more a shirt. This jacket feels more like a shirt with a zipper. There's something wrong with the cuffs. The canvas is just a little too light and soft to make what it should be; a jacket. I was hoping for something a bit more stiff and rugged, but it literally feels like a flannel shirt with a front zipper. I think they really missed the ball here on this "jacket". I'm bummed out. I thought it would be perfect for a ride on the motorcycle at night.
