bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Men's Nine Trails Shorts - 8" is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can run for miles These pants are amazing running shorts. This is my first pair of the Nine Trails Shorts. I never owned earlier versions of this pant so I can't really compare it to previous years. However, contrary to other reviews, I really like the long compression liner. Makes my legs look real nice. But seriously, the compression liners keep the pants right in place, no riding up and no sagging. Manufacturing is excellent. The zippered pockets are great for not losing things on the trail, and the rear pocket is perfect for small items like keys and cash for an end-of-run beer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poorly designed Material is great but the new cut is way to low on the hips.Have gotten these for many years because of design and durability. No more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these shorts! I don't understand all the haters either. I have a pair of Nine Trails shorts from a few years back and I wasn't very thrilled with them so I was a little tentative to spend the money on a newer pair. These blow the old version out of the water. So far I have used these for trail running, gym workouts, and the occasional yoga class and they have performed great everywhere. Perhaps it's my build but I think the compression shorts are far superior to the boxer style liner. The pockets are minimal but I don't tend to put much in my pockets when running so this is actually a plus for me. I would definitely recommend these shorts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit I purchased these as a surprise gift for my husband - he is VERY picky about his clothing. They fit perfectly, the material is amazing, and he says they are extremely comfortable! Definitely would buy them again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NOT AN IMPROVED VERSION I've owned each version of this short since 2008. This version ties with the open side pocket version (2014?) which fit great but what are open pockets for in a hi impact enviro? If I want compression shorts I'll buy (maybe) U Armor. When active, They do ride up and I'm 6'4" 220#s. They feel excellent in a static position, but obviously that's not what Patagonia is about. Quite giddy I purchased 5 pair of the most recent version prior to these. I only use these for yoga which they are perfect stars that, not for their high impact abilities which I bestow a 2.5...Patagonia always gets a round up so...3.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Need to remove compression shorts These shorts would be perfect if they had a brief style underwear portion instead of long compression shorts. I have very large thighs and the compression shorts pull the entire pair of shorts down and I end up having to roll the compression shorts up or bunch the up near my groin to do any kind of activity. However, I do love the fact that they have zippered pockets and a pocket to hold your wallet. It makes them a great pair of shorts for transitioning between various physical activities and around town. They would be perfect if they had a brief style liner. I like a do everything short that I can swim, run, bike, hike, and walk around town without having to change or bring extra clothes along. This is my go to short for that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits weird Bought a month ago and used on 3-6 mile runs. The compression portion of the shorts make the outside lining fall weird and bunch up near the pockets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shorts, but not the best on the market I will preface this review by saying that I have bought 8+ pairs of high quality running shorts from almost every major manufacturer in the last year (2016). These are my #2 choice, and here's why: Pros: 1) 3 zippered pockets, but they are all pretty small and at a weird angle to reach into. 2) Long, snug, boxer cut liner, a significant improvement over the previous generation of Nine Trails shorts that had brief cut liner. 3) The perfect length for my personal preference at 6'2" tall. High enough above the knee to give freedom of movement but not so short that you look ridiculous. Cons: 1) Seems to be cut somewhat low in the back, constantly feel like they are sliding down. If the liner is snug, they just don't reach high enough and seem to sit on the hips instead of the waist. 2) Waistband could be a little wider and the drawstring is also quite narrow. Wider for both of these would add to comfort. Also, I think I slightly elastic drawstring is better than the tight cord that these use. 3) They hang off you like a circus tent, even when they fit in the waist. Other brands have a fake fly in the front to allow them to hang nicer and give a more aesthetic look. So, basically, these are good shorts but for the price, a little more attention to small details could be paid. I can't recommend these over my all time favorite- lululemon pace breaker shorts. For the same price, those are better, and really do a better job on some of the minor details. You won't hate these, but if you really take the time to try out all options on the market, these are not quite at the top. Just my two cents.
