On a hunch, you skinned through the dark and most of the morning to drop into a line that everyone thought would be wind-scoured and boney as hell—and you’d do it all over again. As our most breathable snow shell, the Reconnaissance Jacket delivers exceptional performance for high-output, muscle-powered lines deep into the backcountry or just beyond the gates. It has a supple, double-weave soft-shell fabric throughout the body, paired with a waterproof/breathable 3-layer shell fabric with 2-way stretch on the shoulders, arms and hood for a hardworking blend of breathable comfort and durable weather protection. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish prevents saturation and sloughs snow. To seal out moisture the Reconnaissance has fully taped construction, low-profile cuffs that adjust easily to fit under or over gloves and the Cohaesive® cord-lock management system at the hem and hood. Pockets include two self-lined handwarmers; two large chest pockets (one with internal stash and cable routing); and one interior drop-in for goggles, gloves or your flask. With an articulated fit designed for freedom of movement and an embedded RECCO® avalanche rescue reflector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome jacket I wanted a light weight shell that had great mobility. This winter I found I could layer up or down and ski in great comfort all day long. Great quality and just the right amount of inside and outside pockets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice jacket. Big fit. Like the jacket. Had a similar Patagonia jacket that this is replacing and really liked the breath ability and fabric weight. Haven't had it long enough to really comment on durability of seams and zippers. The fit is definitely bigger than most Patagonia things. It's a little too baggy for me. Maybe it might be helpful for airing out while touring. Also the inside pocket is too small for my iPhone. Maybe a flip phone might fit in there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A winner, almost I have used the jacket once for a short backcountry ski tour. It's comfortable, fits great, and looks good. I have two complaints, though, maybe three. The electronics pocket does not hold my phone. It won't fit through the opening, and the pocket is too small anyway. I have an S6 Active which is an average sized phone, although bigger than an iPhone. That is a fail. Two, this jacket, though intended to be light, minimal, and breathable, should have pit zips, in my opinion. Where I usually tour, California, it is often not that cold and you want to vent some heat while still blocking some wind. I haven't used the hood yet, so we will see if the one pull feature works or not. It seems like it wants to gap around my face at least without a helmet. Otherwise I like it a lot, but I think you should really fix the electronics pocket size and maybe not try to be so minimal on the hood. You want that to fit nicely. And add some pit zips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fit, Keeps Me Dry I've only ridden once with this jacket but it was downpouring in tahoe and kept me perfectly dry. I love the pocket structure and the hood fits over my helmet perfectly. I also liked how light it felt on my body

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Breathable ski jacket Good solid, bomber ski jacket. I've used it more inbounds that out, and found it to be highly breathable. Had to adjust my layers as in strong winds, the jacket gets draughty i.e. you can feel the wind come through it. Layered with a thin puffy underneath (P down jacket in my case), it works extremely well. Little snug in the arms but all around another great piece of Patagonia kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS JACKET! First, it looks great. I know. I know. People want to know about how it wears, but I wouldn't be reviewing it positively if it didn't handle the harsh Montana weather. I constantly get great compliments on the look and cut of the jacket (I have the orange with gray trim). I'm 5'11" and 160lbs -- slim build. The jacket does not have that annoying extra material around the waist, but the sleeves are long enough to manage my ape index. This year, we had -25 degrees (that was NOT wind chill) and I spent my days skiing, shoveling, snow blowing, etc. NO PROBLEMS. I wore it obviously with layers (base layer, medium layer, and a Patagonia Dual Aspect Hoody). When I was done snow blowing outside, I was still toasty warm. Fist
