Learn More Close
The pitch of a lifetime rises above. There’s only one way to decide who leads it. Rock, paper, scissors: best two out of three. Throw your magic and rack up. Our RPS Pants give you unrestricted movement on techy routes; they’re our lightest-weight rock climbing pants, made from a nylon/polyester stretch-woven blend with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Minimalist detailing includes a crotch gusset and articulated patterning, a separating zip-fly waist with belt loops and our innovative OppoSet™ adjustable closure, and cuffs that cinch with an ultralow-profile shock cord and friction knot. With two drop-in pockets with mesh backing, two rear pockets that double as a reinforced seat and a right-thigh zip pocket that stays clear of leg loops.
  • Light and breathable synthetic-blend fabric has modest stretch and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • Articulated pattern, darted knees and a gusseted crotch enhance movement and comfort under a harness
  • Separating zip fly with belt loops and unique OppoSet™ adjustable waist offer a customized fit
  • Drop-in pockets have breathable mesh pocket bags, darts for a lay-flat entry and a coin-catch bartack that doubles as a toothbrush holder
  • Two rear, top-entry pockets create a reinforced seat for added durability
  • Right-thigh security zip pocket sits comfortably above the knee and below harness leg loops
  • Cuffs adjust with an ultralow-profile shock cord and sliding knot
  • 4.5-oz 52% nylon/48% polyester stretch plain weave with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • 311 g (11 oz)
  • Made in Vietnam.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These darn pockets Why does Patagonia attach the perimeter of their upper front packets to the outside of the pant on all of their pants?? Even rock climbers, fieldworkers, or hikers sit down (and ride in cars), and these attached pockets causes everything to slide out while sitting! There is no purpose to this!! (unless they are running pants so thing aren't jingling about when running) Who climbs with items in the front pockets anyways?? If the pockets hung loose, one would not have to constantly worry about important items falling out when resting 3 days into a backpacking trip, sitting down at night while camping (and losing something in the dark), or 3 miles out in the middle of nowhere when doing fieldwork! Huge downside to a great pair of pants On a different note, I have a 32" waist and some reviews said to down size, so I did and bought 31", and they are sill huge

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pants terrible size options Bought these pants, I was very excited to receive them. The waist turned out to be too big (I wear a 30-31) and got the 31". I returned the pants, and wanted to get the 30" but they do not offer it in a 32" inseam. Patagonia, there are people with small waists and long legs. Please allow optional inseams for such a great pant. You're limiting your customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously comfortable and Great Fit Casual wear with technical fit and features make these my favorite pant for kicking around or fishing out of the boat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Pants These pants are very comfortable with just the right amount of stretch and good articulation in the knee. They are very well made, and seem very durable. I like the deep front an back pockets. And I really like the water shedding property of the fabric -- I will be wearing these in sometimes-rainy weather. Very good product overall. Highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not much stretch I wish these had more stretch for climbing! When I tried them on, I loved the fit, the look, and everything about them except when I lifted my knee up, they felt very restrictive. They'd be an awesome hiking or traveling pant, but aren't the climbing pant for me. Patagonia, please add some spandex to this fabric!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good pants - very comfortable & good looking Nice pants, good meteral, lightweight, small thigh pocket size. Pant runs large. I'm a 31 waist and bought size 31 and the waist was way too large even when I snugged down the Web/button (cool feature) to it's tightest. I like the elastic cinch on the cuffs since they're made for taller folks. Returned because of sizing. Bought a size 30 and the waist is still big but when snugged down all the way fit OK.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pants ever I bought these and a pair of the Prana Zion Stretch pants because I couldn't decide. Well, if you're like me and are looking at both of these options, look no more. These are amazing pants and the Pranas are going back. These have a more fitted look with a narrower leg opening. The drawstring at the cuff is awesome. You could wear these to a biz casual office without issue. I hiked Katahdin in these on a cold, windy day and not only did my legs stay warm (despite the lightweight fabric), but the stretch is perfect. I was able to climb rock without any limitation, and the rough rocks that made my hands raw and scratched up did not affect the pants at all. I got a 32x32 and they fit me perfectly. I'm 5'10", 170 lbs. I love these pants. I will buy more someday.
