Just when the sun starts to warm the afternoon, a blizzard blasts the belay. Through the vagaries of shoulder seasons, our Ultralight Down Hoody holds your heat with 800-fill-power Traceable Down (European goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) and an ultralight yet supertough shell fabric blocks wind and sheds snow with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The sewn-through construction, tight channel pattern and just the right amount of down increase versatility for use in more moderate temperatures and diverse activities. The slim silhouette (and low-profile, single-pull adjustable hood) maximizes thermal efficiency and suits its ideal uses: belay parka over light layers at crisp crags, minimalist summer alpine bivies and unmatched warmth layered under a shell. Pockets include two zippered handwarmers and one zippered chest. The hoody self-stuffs into the left handwarmer pocket to become a travel pillow, and into the chest pocket for storage, with carabiner clip-in loop. A drawcord hem helps keep in the heat.
  • Ultralightweight Pertex Quantum® shell and liner fabrics use interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance the performance of the DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked)
  • Variegated channel construction stabilizes goose down; side panels with narrow channels provide shape and reduce bulk
  • Longer-length hem; center-front zipper has interior storm flap and wicking kissing-welt zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Low-profile, single-pull adjustable hood seals in warmth
  • Two zippered handwarmer pockets and one zippered chest pocket have zipper garages; jacket self-stuffs into chest pocket with carabiner clip-in loop, as well as into the left handwarmer pocket to become a travel pillow
  • Elastic-bound cuffs and hem with single drawcord adjustment seal in warmth
  • Shell and lining: 0.85-oz 15-denier 100% nylon ripstop Pertex Quantum® built with Y-shaped filament technology; with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked). Fabric is certified as bluesign® approved

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing runs small After receiving my order I was bummed to find that the fit was so much smaller than the older Down Sweater it was replacing. In fact, I checked the label to see if they sent me an XS by mistake. I thought the fit was suppose to be "regular" and not "slim fit". I weigh 155 lb. and I may try a size M but, of course, the color I wanted is out of stock. My size S Down Sweater fit is perfect with enough room for layering without feeling too snug. I can't understand why Patagonia would suddenly change their sizing. After years of being a customer, you learn how to order online. So much for that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and Versatile Originally bought a size small and it was a bit snug, I'm 155 lbs, wore it a few days and realized this wasn't going to work. Then tried the Medim, and it was way too big, very weird sizing as it was long and baggy in the chest. Really bummed it didnt fit cause the jacket is super warm and versatile. I ended up getting the headier weight down and for some reason the Medium fits in that style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quickly became my go to Got this early in December just before a photography trip to coastal Maine. When I first put it on I was afraid it would not be warm enough for New England conditions. I was happily wrong. Layered with a light base and the lightest primaloft layer I am comfortable from 0 to mid 40s. Would not wear for high output activities. Love it when I slow down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much warmer than my leather coat! My wife bought this for me for Xmas present but two weeks prior we had a cold snap and she gave it to me early . I'm very pleased with how warm it is in 5 degrees weather! I'm a first time wearer of your product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm! Light! A little tight. Super stoked to pick up this jacket on sale. To be honest I was about to purchase one second hand on ebay for a comparable price when I got wind of the sale. Thanks patagonia! I am one of those people who is in between sizes so I ordered a men's S and XS to compare the fit. The men's S was definitely a little too big and the XS leaves very little room if I need to layer underneath. Specifically, shoulder width and armpit area could use a little more room. I ended up sizing down to the XS. I find newer patagonia gear fits a runs a little large on me. I live in San Diego so the jacket alone should keep me toasty 90% of the time. Btw, Hooray for Orange!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i never take it off... never... the fit, performance of the down, the weight, the hood size and mechanism- and the color- are all perfect. i get more compliments on this jacket than any other garment i have ever owned. i am between L and XL in size, so i talked to patagonia rep before i ordered and they gave me detailed measurements so i knew exactly what i was getting. it occasional spits out a feather, and if doing brush busting i would cover it with a shell to be tear-safe, but generally it feels pretty durable.
