So light. So warm. The Ultralight Down Hoody combines 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) with a superlight 15-denier 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® shell for a lightweight, toasty-warm down jacket.

Just when the sun starts to warm the afternoon, a blizzard blasts the belay. Through the vagaries of shoulder seasons, our Ultralight Down Hoody holds your heat with 800-fill-power Traceable Down (European goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) and an ultralight yet supertough shell fabric blocks wind and sheds snow with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The sewn-through construction, tight channel pattern and just the right amount of down increase versatility for use in more moderate temperatures and diverse activities. The slim silhouette (and low-profile, single-pull adjustable hood) maximizes thermal efficiency and suits its ideal uses: belay parka over light layers at crisp crags, minimalist summer alpine bivies and unmatched warmth layered under a shell. Pockets include two zippered handwarmers and one zippered chest. The hoody self-stuffs into the left handwarmer pocket to become a travel pillow, and into the chest pocket for storage, with carabiner clip-in loop. A drawcord hem helps keep in the heat.
  • Ultralightweight Pertex Quantum® shell and liner fabrics use interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance the performance of the DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked)
  • Variegated channel construction stabilizes goose down; side panels with narrow channels provide shape and reduce bulk
  • Longer-length hem; center-front zipper has interior storm flap and wicking kissing-welt zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Low-profile, single-pull adjustable hood seals in warmth
  • Two zippered handwarmer pockets and one zippered chest pocket have zipper garages; jacket self-stuffs into chest pocket with carabiner clip-in loop, as well as into the left handwarmer pocket to become a travel pillow
  • Elastic-bound cuffs and hem with single drawcord adjustment seal in warmth
  • Shell and lining: 0.85-oz 15-denier 100% nylon ripstop Pertex Quantum® built with Y-shaped filament technology; with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked). Fabric is certified as bluesign® approved

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Men's Ultralight Down Hoody is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia Ultralight Hoody I have been a Patagonia customer for more than thirty-five years and have been well served by many Patagonia products. The Ultralight Hoody is no exception. Light, warm and well-made! I am 5'10" and weigh 165 pounds. 32 inch sleeve. I normally wear size medium or large in Patagonia jackets and baselayers. Medium is the right size for me in the Ultralight Hoody. The first one shipped to me had some light gray spots in a couple of places. Graingers detergent did not take them out. However, Patagonia shipped me a new one that was perfect very quickly. Patagonia has the best customer service in the industry!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very warm yet light-weight Love this jacket. It's very light-weight, yet very warm. The hood fits very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great fabric but arms are too tight This hoody would make a perfect lightweight layer but the arms are too tight. A large usually fits me fine but in this case with just a first layer and a fleece, the arms pulled at the elbow. The fabric is a little crinkly but I was intending to wear a shell over it. This could be a very cozy hoody if you don't intend to wear anything but a thin layer underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Men's Ultralight Down Hoody I bought this a month ago and March has been plenty cold and windy to give this wonderfully light but incredibly warm parka a good test. It has passed with flying colors. When the hood is up it seals out the wind very effectively. First rate all the way!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Jacket This jacket is the best, warm, light, and packs nicely. Only advice is if you want to use this jacket for more of a causal piece and want to lay underneath, you have to size up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from State of Art Expect to see lil feathers coming out once in a blue moon! The store said its normal. There is no animal cruelty involved in making this jacket. Feels light, the hood works perfect, can fold into the pocket and easy to pack, completely worth the money. It must be so hard to achieve this quality in a jacket. I get many complements from every person I meet! Thanks Patagonia!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm and light.Wasn't pumped about the sizing This jackets leaves no boxes unchecked. The build quality, the fill power, and the responsible sourcing/manufacturing are better than anything else you can find. I'm planning for the PCT and this jacket was the obvious choice since Patagonia has never let me down..... but I have an issue with the fit. This problem may be unique to me and my body but it's something to be mindful of when buying online (you should try one on first). I'm 6'0 and have a pretty long torso and athletic build so I've exclusively worn size large my whole life until I got this jacket. A large is way to baggy in the torso but fits my arms alright and a Medium fits my torso but the sleeves slide up my arm when I move around. I figured it was better to be on the smaller size to maximize the insulation factor but bummed about the short arms. After a week of being in denial I brought it back to the store to try on alternatives and found the nano puff to have a better fit for me although really not thrilled to add 3 oz to my pack and not have the magical fill power of down but we'll see!!! I really wanted to rep this jacket and have it be my go to for years to come but I just can't vibe with the any of the sizes. If any Patagonia tailors are reading this can you make me a medium with size large arms?!? I'll buy you a 6 pack and a double high five!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from a little too thin for me The jacket had some nice features but was a little too thin for me. My arms were cool/not as warm as the rest of me when wearing it in about 35 deg, windy weather. The hood was very nice, as was the longer hem/waist length. I compared it to the Montbell superior down hoody which was a little warmer, including my arms. Not sure why.
