Our Mini Messenger is as much a part of our daily routine as our toothbrush, morning coffee and the search for clean socks. It balances the need to carry day-to-day essentials—lunch, phone, keys, a stuffable rain shell, a book or two—with the desire to stay light and move freely. The main compartment is padded to hold most 13" laptops and includes several mesh pockets to keep easily misplaced items accessible; a discreet zippered pocket provides a convenient stash for your wallet or credit cards. An outside sleeve keeps your water bottle within quick reach. The large weather-shedding front flap features a zip pocket for your boarding pass or shopping list and a reflective panel for dawn and dusk visibility. The no-slip shoulder strap is fully adjustable, and a top-mounted carrying handle provides a briefcase-style carry option. Made of a tough yet lightweight 450-denier recycled polyester plain weave, with a 450-denier recycled polyester ripstop bottom. The lining is 200-denier 100% polyester. All fabrics have a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Mini Messenger 12L is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Size for the Minimalist I use this everyday as my Indiana Jones, laptop satchel. Its been with me on two business trips so far and has been great. Outer pocket creates easy access for keys, wallet, phone, etc... Plenty of organization inside. Laptop sleeve easily accommodates my Surface Pro, with room to spare for chargers, ipad and other files in the main compartment. Water bottle pocket is very nice convenience. The pocket zippers are a little chincy and you get the inclination that they might fail sometime in the future. I would strongly suggest to the development team to just accept the upcharge and go with a YKK zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size bag I love everything about this bag: it's size, it's shapes, all of the pockets, the color (I got the lovely blue). I use this for work and can fit everything I need in it without it feeling too heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bag I bought this bag about a month or so and I am absolutely in love with it! It's the Patagonia Mini Messenger 12L. I work in clinical research so I tend to have to carry paperwork and study specific research materials. This bag doubles as my purse and utility bag for when I'm up and about seeing patients. I found it to be smaller than expected online, which was great for me. I also use it outside of work as my regular bag. Definitely recommend if you're used to walking around everywhere and need something to organize your things that's is also lightweight. Did I mention its waterproof??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for travel and work I bought this bag a couple weeks ago to replace my larger Timbuk2 messenger laptop bag which has served me well but was often too large for my everyday needs. I was a little hesitant because I thought it would be too small and murse-like but I just returned home from traveling in Europe for a week and this was perfect for using as my small bag for the plane and daily travel through train stations, markets, museums and for short hikes. I used it with my 35L duffel with shoulder straps which was a perfect combo. I was able to fit into it: 2 collapsable water bottles, point & shoot camera, my wife's DSLR, iPad, rain jacket, notebook, passports & train maps and an inflatable pillow. It didn't feel overloaded and was the perfect small size to keep it light weight and unobtrusive for 12+ hours/day of walking. I actually preferred having no additional shoulder pad as I didn't need it for comfort and think it would be too bulky and unnecessary for this slim bag. The pockets, organizers and features all work well and a .5L collapsable water bottle works in the outside pocket nicely. This bag matches the high quality of the rest of my Patagonia gear and I'm looking forward to getting many years of use out of it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good features except for one This bag works for the reasons that other reviewers have mentioned. Smallish, yet large enough for a 13" laptop or pad and file folders plus misc. stuff, ample pockets, and the back outside pocket is really handy for flight or rental car info, etc. But. The bottle pocket must have been designed and approved by someone who never uses one. The upper portion of the pocket is made of a stretch material, which is good, but the bottom half is the same material as the rest of the bag and is not large enough in circumference. No stretch. This means that many bottles, very popular ones such as Hydro Flask, or even a small Power Aid bottle, won't slide into the pocket without effort and then, because there isn't enough pocket material, space is stolen from the side of the bag itself. Example: my wife had loaded hers with things, including a pill bottle on the inside side pocket, adjacent to the bottle pocket. Her Hydro Flask wouldn't fit. The pill bottle wasn't bulging outward, but was taking up the proper volume of the body of the pack. This is a case of design limiting function. Not quite a deal breaker, but......

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Mini Messenger! This is a perfect smaller bag that has just the right amount of room and not too bulky. The colors are great. I do wish it had a hidden support strap that could be used to secure the bag to the body if desired like the Atom has. It is a perfect everyday bag for simple needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential travel companion Purchased the Mini Messenger to replace my previous version ( which after many years and trips was in great shape ).. Find that the new size is more suited for today's traveling routines. It is the essential travel companion. Wouldn't think of getting on a plane or train without it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BRING BACK THE SOLID COLORS! I have bought 3 of these packs in different colors and have absolutely loved them. I have used them to go shopping, travel internationally to keep the bag close to your body, go to ballgames. They are easy to wash...just empty and throw in washer and dryer. I completely hate however that Patagonia has gone to these funky colors. Bring back the solid traditional colors! Also this bag needs to come in different sizes like previously available. Would love to see a messenger bag this style in solid colors like in previous years
