Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what they were These once were the best product out there - they were perfect. However, the quality has gone down. One would think that with the price going up, quality would at least stay the same. I bought 4 pairs at the beginning of the year. One pair had the lining come out of the leg within weeks. The rest have had the same happen since then. They all unravel in the same spot near the thigh. In fairness, Patagonia offered to replace the first pair when I called, but I never sent them in and I haven't called about the others, but there seems to be a real overall quality issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from changed the fit??? Patagonia must have changed the sizing and fit of these in the last couple of years. I bought a medium a couple of years ago and it was a mid-rise panty that fit great. (I wear size 8-10 pants.) I bought another medium last week, and it is very different than the one I bought a couple years ago. The new one is much smaller and has a MUCH lower rise than the old one. I really liked the mid-rise panty and I'm very disappointed that Patagonia changed this to a low-rise. I might keep buying these just because I haven't been able to find any others made from recycled materials, but I really wish Patagonia would offer a mid-to-high-rise panty for the over-40 crowd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stay in place These are amazing underwear. Usually I need to adjust my undies when I'm on hikes and just long walks. These are so great that I don't even think about them. They are also super soft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Despite the seam issues, great panties. I have owned a few pairs of these for the past 3 years. By far, my favorite go-to underwear for work, working out, running, etc. Despite the waistband seam issue- it seems like it's poorly/too lightly sewn in in the first place- these panties hold up for a long time, even when washed in the washing machine, and the fabric does not get worn out/threadbare anywhere over years of use. The waistband in almost every recent pair I've purchased has come partially undone, but only partially. The fabric Pata uses for these and other items in the "Barely" undie line does not hold onto stinky germs, and the fit is flattering, which I cannot say about another popular travel underwear brand. I'd say these are in the true to size realm of fit, but choose the smaller size if you're in between sizes. This cut works well under most dresses and yoga pants- they stay put and don't show much pantyline.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Waist seam comes undone These are the most comfortable underwear I've found but the waist seam comes undone after only a few uses. I bought another pair of Patagonia Active Briefs from REI to see if they had fixed the seam problem but it had a huge tag even though the website claimed it was tagless so I returned that pair. I am looking for stretch thread that will work to repair my many pairs but I want the same thread so I can be sure it works and doesn't itch. I think I'll call Patagonia and talk to them as soon as I have time. Any suggestions for where to get thread that will repair?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from That tag! Sewn in tag, poor stitching at waistband and leg opening seam have removed this item from any future purchase possibility. Very sad as multiple, previous pairs lasting more than 10 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfy I am 5'4" and 160 lbs. I ordered a large which fit fine, but because the material is so stretchy I probably could have gotten a medium. I love these for multiple reasons; they're flattering comfortable, and they're almost wedgie proof! I work at a deli where I'm always on my feet and walking around and I rarely have that issue, which is amazing! Am now a Patagonia undies convert!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but top seam comes apart I love the active briefs. They are super comfortable, don't ride up, and I can hand wash and dry them quickly when I'm travelling. However, I find the waist band seam unravels sooner than I'd like. Most of mine are less than a year old and in perfect shape except for that seam. I own about 8 pairs and at least half had this happen.
