Run, ride, rock—just don’t go without our up-for-anything Houdini® Jacket. It encourages improvisation with its weather-resistant 100% nylon ripstop fabric that blocks wind and withstands abrasion on multihour adventures. The slim fit accommodates a baselayer or a light midlayer; the improved hood cinches with a single pull and won’t pinch your ears; cording, toggles and cuffs are all trim and lightweight. Half-elastic cuffs seal the wrists, and a drawcord cinches the hem. It packs snugly into its own small, vertically zippered chest pocket, which has a reinforced clip-in loop for attaching to your hydration-pack straps. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish coats the shell and the center-front zipper. With a reflective logo on the left chest and center-back neck.

Water Resistant

(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this and take it everywhere. I got this after looking for a new rain coat. I understand that it's not what it's specifically for, but I got swept away by all the positive reviews. I am so happy I went for it. I work outdoors in the northeast, and it rarely rains all day. It will rain off and on, and this coat is perfect because it provides enough protection to keep me dry in most situations, but doesn't cause me to overheat when the rain stops, allowing me to keep it on all day versus taking it on and off. I also use it for hiking. Again, since it is very lightweight and breathable, I don't have to keep taking it on and off when I'm in and out of the treeline. If you are on the fence about this coat, just get it. It is absolutely worth the money and doesn't even much more than a much lesser performing coat. I sized up so I could put it over other layers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect layer piece Bought this jacket as a piece to tide me over when it's not cold enough for a thicker jacket but just chilly enough that a long sleeved shirt isn't enough. The Blue Ridge mountains are at that fickle weather stage where a thick coat is too much especially for hiking, but usually at the top you'll need some wind protection. This one's a winner! It packs up so tiny it could fit in a pocket, but I just clip it to my day pack. It was so easy to throw on once the wind started. It's not cool enough in my town to use while running yet, but I know it'll be a much loved piece of gear once temps drop. I ordered a L because I'm pretty tall and nowhere near small framed, but I definitely think I could have used a M with no issues, since it goes over a base layer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket -- needs a hood drawcord I've been wearing this jacket for a couple months, mostly while biking and walking. The fit is great (size m, 5' 7" and 145 lbs), and I love that it's lightweight and easy to stash. Why is there no drawcord in the hood?? That would make this jacket perfect. When I'm on my bike the hood flies out like a parachute and blocks my view behind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for biking This jacket is amazing. While highlighted for trail running, I'm using it as a windbreak/light rain barrier for mountain biking and it works great. It is light and easily fits in a jersey pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect layer This was the perfect layer on a fall backpacking trip. It's just enough to block the wind, but light enough that I never overheated. It packs down and stores quickly and easily. I often wear a small, but chose the medium for this because I am tall and have long arms, and it fits great with just enough room to wear a warm layer underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish windbreaker This is a stylish, minimalist windbreaker that looks great and does what it's supposed to do — help minimize windchill and protect from drizzling rain. It's not intended for cold weather or for a downpour. For those who complain that it doesn't have pockets, please understand that pockets defeat the purpose of what's supposed to be a lightweight layer. I've worn it bike riding on chilly evenings (50-degrees F) and it's great at blocking wind without making you overheat. I got a small (I'm 5'5" with 36-inch bust and 27-inch waist with regular-size torso) in shock pink. The sleeves are a tad long but it's not in the way. The body isn't long like new R1 hoody and other Patagonia jackets and shirts, so that's a relief. Love the color and the vanilla-colored zipper. Nice contrast. My only complaint is I wish the hood was larger to fit over a helmet but then again this jacket isn't designed for that. This is one of my favorite Patagonia jackets, of which I have several. My all-time fave is the Nano Air. This might be a close second.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sleeves are too long. Durn. I've admired this jacket for a while, and I would have purchased it long ago, but the colors I liked were sold out until recently. When it arrived I was thrilled...until I discovered that the sleeves are too long. This is strange because I've been a Patagonia customer for years, have always worn a Medium top, and have never had a problem. I'm 5'8", 125 pounds. The cut of the jacket is slim, so everything else works; the downside of that is that I can't exchange for a small because then the body won't fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket for Spring/Summer I received the Houdini jacket as a gift and I love it! I never thought there would be a jacket that I would like as well as Patagonia's Dragonfly, which is no longer available, but I was wrong. It's hard to believe that a jacket this lightweight can keep you warm and block the wind as well as it does!
