If a spring ascent of Liberty Ridge tops your climbing list, the Levitation Hoody soft shell should top your packing list. This full-zip hoody is made with a tough but lightweight stretch-woven double-weave fabric that breathes, resists wind and staves off precip with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. A 2-way-adjustable hood with laminated visor pulls easily on or off your helmet at belays, and a soft microfleece-lined collar feels soft on the chin. Minimalist detailing includes our stretchy Variable Conditions Cuffs, which integrate cleanly with your climbing gloves. Three zippered pockets (two high handwarmers, one chest) keep small essentials secure.
  • Lightweight, double-weave soft-shell fabric resists abrasion, wind and weather while maintaining great stretch and breathability for highly aerobic activity
  • Helmet-compatible hood with laminated visor and single-pull adjustment provides exceptional coverage and visibility, with total range of unrestricted motion
  • Center-front zipper with interior wind flap and minimal-welt microfleece zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Wicking microfleece at back of neck for next-to-skin comfort
  • Variable Conditions Cuff with spiral-seam construction fits over gloves and allows sleeves to push up easily without constricting forearms
  • Two high handwarmer pockets and a left-chest pocket secure with zippers
  • Flat-cinch, no-bunch hem adjusts by pulling cord in handwarmer pockets and releases with cord locks at side hem
  • Shell: 5.2-oz 100% polyester stretch double weave. Cuffs: 5.4-oz 88% nylon/12% spandex stretch double weave. Shell and cuffs have a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Fabric is certified as bluesign® approved

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Water Resistant

(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Women's Levitation Hoody is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Levitation Hoody I wore the levitation hoody during a recent ice climbing trip. The hoody was great. Water and wind resistant. My only critique is that the hoody runs small in the arms, overall length, and somewhat form fitting. Combined with two layers the hoody material isn't flexible and was tight in the arms, shoulders, and length wise was shorter than the two layers I had on underneath. Unfortunately the hoody wasn't available in the store so I ordered it online. I would recommend trying on the hoody on rather than ordering online as it runs small in the arms and overall length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Softest Shell I am in love with the Levitation Hoody, which kept me warm and dry while ice climbing. It's remarkably light and moved with me as I went; once I zipped it up I barely knew it was there. The hood is compatible with a helmet and easy to manage. It is perfect for layering and breathes well. The shock pink color would not have been my first choice (it was on discount), but I actually like it; it's a bit brighter and more sporty than I expected, and I like the visibility. I am also impressed by the durability of the material. I'll be wearing this non-stop from now until June. Sizing: at 6'1'' and 160 lbs with an athletic build, I really struggle with the majority of Patagonia's women's clothing (but buy it anyway because I love their ethics). This is the first piece which fit perfectly- with long enough sleeves! Hooray!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I really like everything about it. The color, the style, the function. Lightweight, water resistant, and perfect for outdoor adventures. More of a shell only, so nothing too insulated if that she what's you're looking for?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great everyday layer I was looking for a lightweight jacket that is water repellent and this was a great find. I typically wear an M but after reading other reviews that it was tight in the hips, I bought a large, which is a bit long in the sleeves, but allows me to be able to wear a sweater or vest comfortably under the jacket. Have worn it in the snow and in rain without a problem. Lightweight and compact, a very functional jacket!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too small in the hips I've tried at least 3 different types of jackets from Patagonia. I'm convinced they do not make any size to fit a woman with hips. I ordered a Medium which was fine and a bit large above (would have liked it cut in more) but EVERY jacket I tried (Mediums for all) fits good, but snug in the hips. What good is that if you need to zip up? Ive tried exchanges for Larges but then I'm swimming in the coat. What gives Patagonia? I'm 5'6" and 148 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all around shell I selected 'Other' because I LOVE this jacket for everything I do! I've worn it almost all winter since I purchased it, mainly for my bike commute to work, weekend hikes and snowshoeing. It's the perfect soft shell-breathable, water and wind resistant, warm, and the hood is large enough to fit over my biking helmet. When not in use, the hood is larger than other jackets but the purpose is clear-to fit over helmets. The cuffs are smartly designed, removing the adjustable tabs but keeping the profile sleek and secure, I never have water leakage problems and they fit nicely over a pair of waterproof gloves. And the chest pocket is a must for smaller, need to reach items. The fabric is stretchy and comfortable. I have a Medium sized down jacket and Better Sweater, but purchased a Large Levitation Hoody, which fits perfectly over the layers. The torso and arm length are perfect, a little longer but I don't feel like I'm "drowning" in the extra fabric. All around a bomber jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for High Energy Alpine Skiing I took the Levitation Hoody (and Dual Point Alpine Pant) on a Alpine Touring ski trip at the suggestion of friends also going on the trip. I was convinced that it was not going to be warm enough, or dry enough. Boy, was I wrong. It was great for climbing up (even in high wind and snow), and with an R1 jacket added, also great for descents. I have since worn it spring skiing. It has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of Patagonia gear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from once I figured out the hood it was good It took me a while to find the elastic drawstring on the hood. That changed everything! Now I'm in love with my jacket again and feeling embarrassed and apologetic for underestimating Patagonia's design team. Can't wait to go cross-country skiing again tomorrow
