The lightest-weight merino baselayer, with wool from the grasslands of Patagonia blended with Capilene® fiber.

Read More Close
Putting the miles behind you on the Lost Coast or threading your way through downtown crowds, this adaptable crew combines the technical merits of merino wool with travel-savvy styling. Worn alone in hot conditions, our lightest-weight Merino baselayer exchanges heat and moisture between your skin and the air to keep you cooler and more comfortable. It also layers easily as part of a system for colder weather. Merino wool is naturally breathable, regulates body temperature and stretches. It's also wonderfully soft and naturally resists odor. Ours is sourced from the grasslands of Patagonia. We slow-wash it for softness and shrink resistance, without the use of chlorine, then blend it with 35% Capilene® recycled polyester for durability and for dry times and moisture transfer superior to that of 100% merino. Features include a self-fabric collar with internal neck tape for chafe-free comfort, full underarm gussets for unhindered shoulder mobility, elastic thumb loops for secure hand coverage, low-bulk merrow seams to minimize chafing, offset shoulder and side seams to lie smoothly beneath pack straps, and a drop tail for additional coverage. Machine wash cold; machine dry at low temperatures.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Women's Merino Lw Crew is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent base layer! It's the craziest season in the Sierra right now--snowy up high, and everything else down low. On a weekend hike in the Sierra Buttes, I experienced humid heat, intense sun, rain, hail, and snow. And this layer was super light--it didn't take up much space in my pack, but was essential for when weather turned wet/cold. Can't wait to use it for cross country skiing!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hem rolls Loved the softness and weight. Bought two. Returned both after having one on for an hour and the hem continuously rolled up. It wouldn't lie flat. Knew it would drive me crazy and not something I wanted to tuck in. Bummer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatility, durability, and a great fit. I bought this top three weeks ago and have been giving it a workout ever since. On a backcountry ski trip with temps in the low 20's, it provided baselayer warmth and a perfect fit to layer over. Next, I traveled to So. Cal. to go trail running in 70 deg. temps and it stayed dry and cool (and odor free). I then washed this top in a sink at the hotel. It kept its shape and was dry in 4 hrs. At 5'5, 128lbs., 34b, the size small fits perfect. Thank you, Patagonia, for a great fitting top that wicks moisture, regulates warm/cold, and is durable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Layering at its best! I bought three different items for my wife and she loves all of them! Must be a world record!! Lightweight, warm, well made and looks great. Most times she has two of the items on at the same time! I have placed two more orders since the first one. She's very pleas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect wool layer I wore this running at first and thought it was amazing. It is so lightweight, yet warm enough on cooler days to wear alone. I will also wear it in the field for hiking and work. Loved it so much I bought a short and another long sleeve in white!
