Majka Burhardt leads the first female ascent of Valhalla, a route that has retained nearly mythical status since its first ascent 20 years ago. The climb consists of perfectly vertical to past-vertical climbing on a thin ice. Burhardt is being belayed by Anne-Gilbert Chase, who described it as “one of the most perfect pitches of pure ice I’ve ever seen or climbed.” February 2020. New Hampshire.
